Townie here, I assumed if you do geese you keep and hatch your own eggs for the next batch Blush.

GruntledOne · 19/02/2016 17:23

It's Tony's health that makes me wonder these days. 65, major heart problems, major injury a year ago leading to concerns whether he'd live or walk again, but you'd really think there isn't a lot wrong with him.

ppeatfruit · 19/02/2016 17:28

Yes it seems a good idea but you never hear of the Grundys doing it do you? Or keeping a few as guard geese either. I'm a born townie but live between rural Fr. and Sth.England\ London.

AnnieNoMouse · 19/02/2016 17:31

Has anyone died of a long term ilness in TA? Other than Jack Woolley? Everyone else seems to gave an accident (Nigel, John A, Mark Hebden) or die quickly of heart disease (Sid and Freda). What about cancer, MS and MND? what about showing the day to day situation of someone with or caring for someone with a life limiting ultimately terminal disease? The Robhell SL shows they can sustain a long term story.

AskingForAPal · 19/02/2016 17:35

Betty died of cancer didn't she?

AskingForAPal · 19/02/2016 17:36

And I suppose the gamekeeper chap who shot himself sort of "died of" his depression.

JessieMcJessie · 19/02/2016 17:36

Ruth Jones as an Archers SW would be fantastic; I echo what others have said about the talent for detail and multi-generational writing evident in Gavin & Stacey. I'm going to look for Stella now that it has a TA fan's seal of approval.

I always imagine Chris still having a tiny vestige of hare lip and it being v sexy, like Joaquin Phoenix or the dastardly one (Dolotov?) in War & Peace.

Can I please ask anyone who has been listening to the Women's Hour drama this week to go to my other thread and fill in a bit of plot I missed? Thanks :-)

JessieMcJessie · 19/02/2016 17:37

No Asking Betty had a heart attack. Two I think.

AskingForAPal · 19/02/2016 17:42

Oh you're right Jessie, don't know why I think that.

Lizzie's heart condition hasn't given her much bother either has it?

R4 · 19/02/2016 17:44

Listening to Ruth cope with HeatherPet would have been amusing. But she did a quick SOTMC too.

2rebecca · 19/02/2016 17:52

Agree they don't really do chronicillnesses, but then they aren't that interesting to listen to. Endless oldies moaning about their aches and pains and discussing their trips to the doctors' in depth as some are prone to do would have everyone reaching for the off switch. It's like in the programme Lost where a whole plane load had no-one needing longterm medication for heart disease or diabetes just 1 young drug addict.

BYOSnowman · 19/02/2016 18:13

Hopefully the new editor will bring back Beth

Unless the intention is for Helens baby to be 'not perfect' in robs eyes due to a disability of some sort. Then we would have the benefit of a sl that deals with an issue relevant to many people's lives but also potentially gets knob out of the way as he wont want access.

dairyfarmerswife · 19/02/2016 18:44

I didn't hear Ruth Jones but liked Gavin and Stacey, and am a Stella fan too. A lovely mix of comedy and drama and lots of interconnecting family storylines. Plus I'm a sucker for a welsh accent! The current series is the last I think, it's Tuesdays at 9pm on Sky1, and we must be over halfway through. Worth watching the others if you can get hold of them.

Oh and geese - yes later on I think, though my sister has hatched some this week from geese she kept on from her Christmas flock. But the first year I don't think she had them until mid summer.

FinestGrundyTurkey · 19/02/2016 18:48

I liked Steve Lamacq's wish list for Rob - that something from his past comes back to haunt him, Ambridge rises up against him & he disappears to leave us wondering if he's gone for good or not. (Bit like Clive Horrobin I suppose.)

BYOSnowman · 19/02/2016 19:08

So ursula did pass the message on

Not sure about Justin and Lillian - not exactly Matt is he. Hopefully they won't be on too much unless the point of the sl is that Matt returns and is ragingly jealous!

BYOSnowman · 19/02/2016 19:10

I don't like skipping between scenes that are clearly far apart in time. I always think they should have a scene in between so it seems more 'real time'

BYOSnowman · 19/02/2016 19:10

And does Cheltenham have better shops than Birmingham? And is it really that close to ambridge?

BYOSnowman · 19/02/2016 19:13

Is rob sending the anonymous cards to cause trouble?

I can't imagine Justin as handsome. I think of him as jowly.

Another writing criticism - I don't like the way that the last line of the previous scene matches the first line of the next scene iyswim. It's all a bit afternoon play rather than eavesdropping!!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 19/02/2016 19:14

So Valentine's card, Charlie or Rob?
Or did Ian send it himself to try to out Adam's secret?

FinestGrundyTurkey · 19/02/2016 19:14

Cheltenham is much classier, also smaller & much nicer to shop in I reckon. & it is quite a bit nearer (going by Inkberrow)

HumphreyCobblers · 19/02/2016 19:15

Gosh!

ColdTeaAgain · 19/02/2016 19:15

ShockShockShockShockShock

BYOSnowman · 19/02/2016 19:16

What a load of crap at the end. I can't believe they have decided to go down abusive dh and abusive mil route. Really disappointed in them.

ColdTeaAgain · 19/02/2016 19:16

Dammit!! Kill all the Titchners!!! Grin

EBearhug · 19/02/2016 19:17
