I like the first one.

If only you could have a musical accompaniment when you click on a link - we could have the swanny whistle!!

Minimammoth · 03/02/2016 21:09

Pulls out pedant soapbox.....its Swanee whistle, after the river.

BYOSnowman · 03/02/2016 21:13

Is it? Well you learn something new everyday!!

(I called it a penny whistle on my first attempt...)

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 03/02/2016 21:24

Interesting. I guess maybe she didn't go. That will come out though.

The jobshare. Its not the sw who have lost the plot, it's Rob. Stuff controlling men make up doesn't have to make sense cf tarty maternity wear.

Minimammoth · 03/02/2016 21:26

I dare to catch up now it all sounds too grim.

BYOSnowman · 03/02/2016 21:26

The sw will have lost the plot of pat doesn't do a 'wtf' when she finds out though

Gruach · 03/02/2016 21:34

Essentially, since they will now need another employee to cover the unstaffed shifts, he has pushed her out of her job.

EBearhug · 03/02/2016 21:44

I've never done a job share, nor (knowingly) worked with anyone on a job share. But I always thought the point of a job share is that you have two people covering one job between them, to make a full-time job that covers whatever the role is. So if you each do 2.5 days, one does mornings only, the other afternoons only, or one does Monday - Wednesday, the other does Wednesday-Friday, or you do alternate days or whatever. But crucially, unless you plan to have some overlap for handover, you don't actually overlap, so that a full-time position is basically covered without having one single person to do it. This is particularly important if the role is customer-facing like receptionist or, I dunno, shop work.

Rob is too stupid to understand how jobshares work.

Imbroglio · 03/02/2016 21:44

Hopefully Tom will have something to say about having to look after the shop for extra hours.

Sadly I think you are right that Helen will just give up going in.

EBearhug · 03/02/2016 21:49

Josh and Rex need to work together on being seconds for Rob's & Toby's duel, to make sure there's no doubt they will both die. They then can go off and run an egg empire together.

spiker · 03/02/2016 21:51

I hope she DID go. Or MW will call up and - for plot development reasons - Knob will intercept the call and there will be another excruciating scene.

Patbot can't possibly think it reasonable or sensible from business perspective to shift share - either H is well enough to work or she isn't. If SWs have Knob tell Patbot poisonous tales as to why H needs to 'be kept an eye on' then it will be totally unbelievable if she doesn't TALK TO HER PROPERLY at that point.

Veritat · 03/02/2016 22:04

Let's hope someone says it makes no economic sense to have to employ a third person to cover their jobshare. And if Rob comes out with it being difficult to ferry Helen back and forth for different shifts, surely another member of her loving family could help out.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 03/02/2016 22:06

I have a jobshare. The whole point is, as everyone else has said, that two people cover one job between them. I don't go in and sit beside my jobshare partner to make sure she is doing her work properly, nor vice versa.

Are we now supposed to believe that they are moving from something like this:

Helen: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning
Rob: Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, Friday

to Helen and Rob: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning
Rob: Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, Friday

He can't expect her to come along for his shifts - how will she get all this rest he's so keen on for her?

Josh - not a Troughton. Angus Imrie. Yes, son of.

EBearhug · 03/02/2016 22:12

Meant to say the other day, after a fine comment I've not forgotten - some of the continuity announcers would fit right in if they started posting here.

(I suppose they already could do.)

DadDadDad · 03/02/2016 22:28

If SWs have Knob tell Patbot poisonous tales as to why H needs to 'be kept an eye on' then it will be totally unbelievable if she doesn't TALK TO HER PROPERLY at that point.

But what if Rob tells Pat: "do you know H actually tried to take Henry out of school for an outing, and told the school it was a doctor's appointment, and she doesn't know why she did it - I really think she needs to steer clear of any stress", then he'll do the shift while H stays at home. And if Pat asks H about that incident, H will be embarrassed and agree with R's conclusion.

PresidentOliviaMumsnet · 03/02/2016 22:50

I was really annoyed that she didn't say "oh well, I've bought them to be dual purpost darling, they'll ve useful for when I breastfeed, darling. Only what's best for your baby. They will need to be low cut for that...

I was also incensed that he was moaning about driving her places.

And also that Tony wasn't driving her to the scan but that he couldn't sit in the shop for an hour so that Rob COULD go (not that I'm wishing her time alone with him)

AdventuresOfADentist · 03/02/2016 22:51

How many weeks is she now?

spiker · 03/02/2016 22:53

dad - I totally see H would be embarrassed and fall in with Knob-line but I think NormalPat would be v worried at the idea of H behaving so oddly that she needs watching and would gently probe and smell a rat. But PatBot won't...sigh...

When is H going to check her bank statement?

DadDadDad · 03/02/2016 22:57

According to the GADD* Helen is coming up for 25 weeks.

*Generally agreed due date

AdventuresOfADentist · 03/02/2016 23:27

Thanks dad

enochroot · 03/02/2016 23:32

I had a sudden nightmare vision of Rob in the delivery room being contemptuous of the MW, demanding the consultant be present, not allowing any pain relief.

ColdTeaAgain · 03/02/2016 23:44

I am clinging to the hope Knob will be gone before she goes into labour.

His idea about their shifts in the shop is outrageous but totally believable. He is now completely consumed by the need to control her.

DH is amused by the fact that I haven't listened this week but am still able to keep him updated via MN. There is no escape Wink

GiddyOnZackHunt · 04/02/2016 00:09

delurking.
Can you work tie backs in with curtains for Rob?
I'm also finding it all still hard to listen too. It's getting horribly reminiscent of awful ex.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 04/02/2016 00:17

Flowers for everyone on the thread for whom the Knob sl is bringing back memories but I am heartened to see the word "ex" being used to refer to the culprits. Smile just goes to show.

Cooroo · 04/02/2016 05:35

Hope this is ok, but someone on Archers Appreciation on Facebook has started a collection for Refuge under 'rescue Helen Archer'. £7,500 in a few hours! FB not all bad. Here's the link in case anyone wants to contribute www.justgiving.com/helentitchener
