Good grief, I've just looked at the price of shepherd's huts. £10K flatpack, £17K "finished". But then it's another fortune to install things like a stove, electrics, guttering, oak floor, etc; and you're paying by the mile for the sellers to deliver the thing.

How come Robert's got all that money hanging around in his back pocket? Am I imagining that at one stage he was quite cash-strapped?

BertrandRussell · 24/01/2016 17:19

We have very richfriends who have a shepherd's hut, a gypsy caravan, a tree house and a converted smithy in their "garden"- aka wood. You can choose which you want to sleep when you go to stay.

GypsyFl0ss · 24/01/2016 17:24

That sounds fabulous Bertrand ...do they need any new friends? Grin

BertrandRussell · 24/01/2016 17:28

I still remember when I had two small children and was very tired spending a summer night alone in the shepherd's hut while dp and the children slept in the caravan. It was heaven!

They are planning to build a reed bed natural swimming pool next. I can't wait!

BYOSnowman · 24/01/2016 17:49

I'm trying to convince dh to let me get a £5k flat pack one based on my proficiency at ikea flat packs. Funnily enough he's not keen

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 24/01/2016 17:57

You cpuld make one based on a ~800 shed for about 2k I reckon. Or just pay a joinery manufacturer to make one. 5000k is an outrage.

BYOSnowman · 24/01/2016 17:59

You get a bit more than thaone for the £5k though!

Pipe dream anyway - dh wants to put a sauna in. Again, a pipe dream! If only we had the space!!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 24/01/2016 18:03

In fact not even an 800 shed thete are some for less than 300 that would do the job. Paint them white. Bung on a curved roof. Ok so the wheels and axles might be a bit tricky...but still.

LillianGish · 24/01/2016 18:06

They may have some cash left over from insurance pay out after the flood.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 24/01/2016 18:08

Does Robert not build theatre sets? I am sure a shepherd hut isn't outside his capabilities (over infested...i googled for wheels for it)

BYOSnowman · 24/01/2016 18:10

It is the wheels that can be pricey - look nice but probably not necessary

Maybe I should just convince dh to let me tart up a shed

BYOSnowman · 24/01/2016 18:11

That's true - he could probably manage it easily and given location have easy access to iron wheels

Or buy an old one and do it up. I think that is a cheaper way too

BYOSnowman · 24/01/2016 18:12

They could also use it as a guest bedroom for the b&b

toldmywrath · 24/01/2016 18:35

The man who lives around the corner from us has a rather large shed & he's fitted it with a wood burning stove. That is the height of luxury imo.

No euphemisms were hurt in this posting.

BYOSnowman · 24/01/2016 19:05

Ha ha - Rob is such a knob!!

Gruach · 24/01/2016 19:06

OMG - Rob's revenge is swift!

BYOSnowman · 24/01/2016 19:08

If I were Tom I would be asking for proof tbh

After what happened to ambridge Organics I fear this shop is going to be failing too

And honestly, the wedding sl is so crap. You know fallon, you can say no. She's not running her business very well

BYOSnowman · 24/01/2016 19:11

Rob being shopkeeper is such a bad idea - no one is going to want to go in there!!

BYOSnowman · 24/01/2016 19:12

So who is running the cafe while fallon and Emma are at the wedding?

BYOSnowman · 24/01/2016 19:15

Ian does surly well. Was Adam comparing Charlie to a piece of lamb?

enochroot · 24/01/2016 19:17

It would be like nipping into Dracula's lair to buy a loaf of bread!
No wonder the sausages aren't selling even if Rob isn't damning them with faint praise.

Poor Charlie.

Gruach · 24/01/2016 19:25

And undoubtedly Pat will now side with Rob against her own son.

TopOfTheCliff · 24/01/2016 19:25

Do you think Dracula will sell any black pudding? or just keep it for himself?

Rob does sound very intimidating but Tom isn't apparently afraid to cross him. It is a battle of wills there and it will be interesting how it plays out!

Travelledtheworld · 24/01/2016 19:35

So frustrated that Tom didn't start a conversation about Rob and the Sausage boycott while he was talking about black puddings....

PseudoBadger · 24/01/2016 19:50

"The man who lives around the corner from us has a rather large shed" Grin
