No Gruach Hell only helped out at Jess's party because the food was coming from the shop ASFAI can remember. Maybe Emma was doing something else or there wasn't a 'firmed up' catering thing then.

Oh dear I must get on with clearing up Grin

BYOSnowman · 11/01/2016 10:38

I think you're right ppeat. Fallon and Emma served but food was delivered by Helen. She didn't stick around and was really awkward with Jess

BYOSnowman · 11/01/2016 10:39

Although Helen didn't provide the dressed salmon

ppeatfruit · 11/01/2016 10:43

Wasn't Hell asked to serve though? Making it VERY awkward indeed. No she didn't provide the problematic salmon Grin

enochroot · 11/01/2016 10:44

Did Helen have to ask Rob or money to but Pat a birthday present, I wonder.

enochroot · 11/01/2016 10:47

I remember that Jess pressed Helen to help with the party more than H was comfortable with at first. Helen actually seemed to feel a bit sorry for her though I think a mixture of curiosity and lucre came into it. Jess paid well.

ppeatfruit · 11/01/2016 10:49

enoch They have a shared bank account because Knob asked Tom to mention to Pat to pay their wages (for the shared job) into it.

BYOSnowman · 11/01/2016 10:49

Whilst rob was nasty to Jess he didn't display the same behaviour with her

If all he wanted was a baby mother totally under control he could have achieved that with Jess - dad just died, about to move away from family, no job etc

BYOSnowman · 11/01/2016 10:50

Although I guess the sw hadn't thought of the ea sl by that point

Rob was always nasty so would never have made a great replacement for Brian

LillianGish · 11/01/2016 10:50

Patbot hasn't twigged to Helen's anorexia because she's constantly being promoted by Knob about how peaky H is looking due to pregnancy which is why she needs to be locked in the house and never allowed to leave. Kirsty hasn't been fed this constant line and so she sees what's happening. Knob hates Kirsty because she falls into the can't stand Knob, thinks he's a nasty piece of work camp and is immune to his charms.

ppeatfruit · 11/01/2016 10:52

Well they had been together for years, Jess did say to Hell. "You don't know what he's like". Maybe he tried and she wouldn't allow it or something.

LillianGish · 11/01/2016 10:56

I wonder if she was like Helen - could see what was happening, but couldn't do anything about it. If he is following a pattern do we expect him to start having an affair?

BYOSnowman · 11/01/2016 10:56

He doesn't strike me as the kind of man who would stick around if he wasn't getting his way though. His behaviour has escalated too quickly with Helen for this to be 'new' behaviour surely?

WipsGlitter · 11/01/2016 11:01

It was a good episode in that there was so much Robbishness in it. Possibly laying it on a bit too thick actually.

enochroot · 11/01/2016 11:04

ppeat They have a joint account but he seems to dole out money to her for maternity clothes so I'm doubtful that she has access to their money.

ppeatfruit · 11/01/2016 11:12

Everyone has access to their own joint account don't they? She was criticising him spending so much on Xmas wasn't she?

ppeatfruit · 11/01/2016 11:13

That's probably why Jess refused to join him in Amb. Though SOC hadn't thought the SL through before Knob arrived in Amb.

BertrandRussell · 11/01/2016 11:15

"Everyone has access to their own joint account don't they? She was criticising him spending so much on Xmas wasn't she?"

She isn't allowed to drive so probably can,t get to a cash machine........

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 11/01/2016 11:18

ppeat I suspect she won't be accessing that account for long ... He could get the statements (and who still gets paper ones anyway?) delivered to the shop or another address, or intercept them, and her bank card could go the same way as the cheque book, perhaps?

Interesting thought about him having an affair. I wonder who with? There's not really anyone else middle class available of the right sort of age, is there? Alice is the only candidate I can think of.

BYOSnowman · 11/01/2016 11:22

But Jess seemed really upbeat and keen to start life with him in ambridge

CryHavoc · 11/01/2016 11:23

Kirsty KNOWS. With any luck she won't allow herself to be fobbed off by Helen or driven away by Rob.

JapanNextYear · 11/01/2016 11:25

Kirsty does know and should have enough nous to actually start talking to other people! Go Kirsty!

ppeatfruit · 11/01/2016 11:26

Yes BYOS as I said the SL wasn't properly thought through then was it? She was vaguely hysterical too.

BYOSnowman · 11/01/2016 11:39

I thought that was bad acting!!

enochroot · 11/01/2016 11:47

I think she doesn't have access to the money at all. He's probably taken the cheque book off her after the wood delivery incident. She would need to get to a cash machine. There might not be one in the village - I have to drive three miles to one - so she'd have to ask someone else to go. He'd quiz her if she asked for money. She will have the same problem accessing cash from her own account.
Unlike him, she wouldn't take cash from the till at work without asking Pat who would also ask questions.
She could perhaps do some online shopping on the computer she uses for fruit orders but she seems not to.

I wonder if she'll notice her salary is being diverted on payday. I hope she asks Pat about it then.
