She'll have a card and maybe Pat (who is also collecting Henwee) will get cash from a machine for her.

Either bad acting or being married to Knob BYOS Grin

enochroot · 11/01/2016 12:04

Then why is he giving her money to buy maternity clothes if she can simply use a card?

Putthetulipsthere · 11/01/2016 13:09

When did we start realising what a knob Rob is? I think it was the aftermath of the salmon incident at the party and then the horrible phone conversations he had with Jess when he was divorcing her.

Love the idea of Kirsty & Hellin disappearing in a fast car out of Ambridge Thelma and Louise style😀😀😀 ( not forgetting Henwy of course)

trevortrevorslatterfry · 11/01/2016 13:35

Hullo all. May I just take a moment to state my appreciation for a new insult I've heard on this thread courtesy of Joskar - "fannybaws".
Brilliant.

As you were Smile

enochroot · 11/01/2016 13:39

He was gaslighting Helen before he divorced Jess. That began, or was first noticed, almost as soon as Helen moved in with him. The criticism of her clothes began very early on as well and the sudden dislike of things she'd cooked. Also there was the Valentine's day disappearance so nearly two years ago now.

enochroot · 11/01/2016 13:39

Or is it one year? Senior moment.

BYOSnowman · 11/01/2016 13:44

i think we noticed rob was a knob a couple of months before the sw's!

Toomuchtea · 11/01/2016 14:01

Helen probably won't spend money on the joint account because she'll have to account to Rob for every penny. My ExH always criticised me for everything I spent money on unless he'd approved it first, and we didn't even have joint accounts.

enochroot · 11/01/2016 14:08

I think we once commented on whether there was a wiley lone SW quietly pursuing a subtle EV story without SOC noticing!

DadDadDad · 11/01/2016 14:42

enoch - just checked, and the one night with Jess was two years ago, it's just that the paternity test story that played out a year later, so it feels more recent.

CuttedUpPear · 11/01/2016 15:12

BYOS I remember an interview with the Rob actor where he said that the SWs weren't sure how his character was going to develop at first.
So when he arrived in Ambridge he was just a bloke waiting for his wife to join him and Jess was in no way an oppressed wife.

I think his character development has veered over to the present incarnation without a logical pathway but as long as we can forget that it's an interesting SL.

GruntledOne · 11/01/2016 15:24

I suppose the Jess storyline could be consistent on the basis that, from Rob's point of view, the marriage was no longer viable because Jess was insisting on pesky independent things like becoming a social worker and not accompanying him to Borsetshire initially. Who knows, perhaps it was her social services training which led her to a degree of self-preservation.

ppeatfruit · 11/01/2016 15:47

enoch I think we should ask the SWs about the inconsistencies, I guess not everything is spelt out or maybe there isn't time, I don't know.

AnnieNoMouse · 11/01/2016 17:01

Rob was definitely a known knob in autumn 2014 - and the signs of EA were there by then. I remember because that's when I became a born again listener (lured in by talk of Roy and Hayley at Loxfest), and then picked up on all the Rob stuff, helped of course by discovering these threads.

enochroot · 11/01/2016 17:10

So they did start living together about 2 years ago. It wasn't entirely a figment of my imagination! He's been messing with Helen's head for most of that time.

I suppose inconsistencies are inevitable what with SWs changing week by week but I thought it was the job of the editor to watch out for them!

Freeriver · 11/01/2016 17:20

I am glad to read that most feel now Kirsty is watching over Hellin all will be well.
I don't think Kirsty is clear on the situation yet though, going by her few words with Hellin before she said her goodbyes.
After all, they had been together most of the day then the drive home but clearly Hellin hadn't opened up and if Kirsty had suspicions about the treatment of H she (K) doesn't seem to have felt it necessary to pursue/dig deeper.
Maybe K will just ponder for a while, speak to someone else about it?
Suspicion is all very well, but is this a 'watch & wait' situation for K?

And yes, I do get too invested. Blush

DadDadDad · 11/01/2016 17:35

As much as we would cheer K riding in to save H, I think it's going to make a more compelling drama to have K do a Miss Marple round the village having those innocent conversations that gradually piece together. And then, can she find allies in Pat and Ian to challenge Rob?

Freeriver · 11/01/2016 17:49

I do wonder if Knob checks Hellin's phone?
He might see K's number come up frequently if H feels like opening up
But she won't open up will she because in her situation everything is fine.? Shock

Freeriver · 11/01/2016 17:51

Correction == Meant pov. not 'situation'.

GruntledOne · 11/01/2016 17:54

I think the fact that Kirsty specifically whispered to Helen about contacting her indicates that her antennae are at least on the alert. If she picks up anything at all from other people she is likely to put two and two together, and goodness knows there's plenty to pick up.

BYOSnowman · 11/01/2016 17:57

I would prefer it if Helen rescued herself and realised she's not helpless and pathetic etc

Freeriver · 11/01/2016 18:08

But she has completely lost her self esteem. She has no confidence in herself. She ccannot rescue herself atm.
The not driving - she said to K "Mum and Rob thought it best", her feelings are overridden by other, more sensible people in her view.

I do worry about her.

BYOSnowman · 11/01/2016 18:09

Well she's not going to do it tomorrow - but a lot of women don't have someone who can swoop in and help so it would've good to hear someone extricating themselves

Stickerrocks · 11/01/2016 19:11

What is the point of the pig storyline except to bring Jazzer back in?

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 11/01/2016 19:12

The SWs are watching this thread Wink
