I very much doubt that The Fairbros would have a chum named Barry.

Hugo, Rufus, Harry or Bertie maybe but surely not Barry.

ppeatfruit · 18/01/2016 13:12

Maybe the name is meant to signal a certain CLASS in which this particular name is more usual? Of course we and TA exist in an equitable society. (in my dreams) Grin

BYOSnowman · 18/01/2016 13:21

To me - Barry is a middle aged name. Not sure about class as I've never really got the whole class thing!

So I wouldn't think a fairbro friend based on age rather than class.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 18/01/2016 13:41

What I will say for TA is I think they have always chosen very 'probable' names, and thought seems to go into it. So yes, I'd expect Barry to be older and working class.

Hell's 36 or 37,

Just catching up on threads for the past few days - and Friday's episode!!

YY to others who have praised the actor who plays Charlie. He had just the right balance of vulnerability and strength in his voice. Also his character has developed over his time on TA, from high handed and annoying to a far more complex personality. And the SL is so believable, this is exactly what Adam would do (shag someone else, weeks after marrying). He really is turning into Brian!

Very glad Knob/Hellin SL is developing. There have been quite a few people coming out of their trance regarding knob:-

Pat ( potentially, given Kirsty has voiced her concerns to her)
Ruth - discussing the newspaper article
Adam - ditto
Also think Jim's return may help, as he has always disliked Knob
Roy also was in on the discussion about the newspaper article.

May have cross posted as haven't caught up on all of the comments.

ppeatfruit · 18/01/2016 14:25

Putthetulip Adam is not genetically related to Brian, so it's merely coincidence that he also has questionable morals.

Yes BOOP for Jazzern'Jim at the Bull Burns night, we've been asked to one this year !

songbird · 18/01/2016 14:37

I wonder if DocLocke will be part of Hellins salvation.
a) well, he's a doctor. He'll probably be brought in because of Helen not eating.
b) he's going to get it on with Lizzie (ick) who has her own experience of abuse.
c) he was party to Knob's paternity test.
It could be him that connects the dots, following convos with various people.

Gruach · 18/01/2016 15:30

It's more than coincidence surely ppeat? Brian is after all the major male role model in Adam's life. He's grown up with him and been aware, consciously or not, of family dynamics at Home Farm. He's been learning, every day, how to be a complete ... something within a marriage while miraculously keeping your spouse sweet.

FinestGrundyTurkey · 18/01/2016 15:47

What I will say for TA is I think they have always chosen very 'probable' names

well, if you ignore Roy & Brenda Grin

DadDadDad · 18/01/2016 16:28

I agree, Gruach. ppeat - your comment implies that moral character is biologically inherited, which is surely not the case (or at least, only a small component).

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 18/01/2016 16:29

Oh god yes, why did I not think of them? BlushNobody in their thirties is called Roy or Brenda. Ridiculous!

Gruach · 18/01/2016 19:09

Maurice!!!! (Even if only reported.)

Definite BOOP!

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 18/01/2016 19:11

Stefan?

Grin
Putthetulipsthere · 18/01/2016 19:12

ppeat I just meant that Adam's attitude to marriage does seem similar to Brian and yes Adam is his stepson

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 18/01/2016 19:12

He is such a dick

GypsyFl0ss · 18/01/2016 19:13

Rob makes my skin crawl.

BYOSnowman · 18/01/2016 19:13

Was it just me or was rob doing a different voice when talking to Tom - in order to distinguish himself no doubt

Stickerrocks · 18/01/2016 19:14

Oh Tom, please take those rose-coloured specs off.

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 18/01/2016 19:15

How does Tom keep from strangling Knob and stuffing him in the freezer ??

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 18/01/2016 19:21

Yes BYOS that special voice that makes me have violent thoughts

enochroot · 18/01/2016 19:25

Rob's going to start filling the shop with all sorts of non-organic stuff now, I think.

Helen seems suspiciously sleepy. What can he be giving her?

BYOSnowman · 18/01/2016 19:27

Isn't it just because she's not eating enough?

How far along is she? Surely the 20 week check is due

enochroot · 18/01/2016 19:39

She could be too depressed to get up in the mornings or feigning sleep to avoid his nagging and fussing!

DadDadDad · 18/01/2016 19:48

Helen is nearly 23 weeks based on the generally accepted time scales.

R4 · 18/01/2016 19:52

Well, we are coming up to the anniversary of Ambridge Flexible Time but even that didn't stretch to three week differences.
