I am also going to miss Charlie. It would be very poor plotting to have another oh no, they're not going after all plotline, but I actually wouldn't mind that.

The Fairbrethren, on the other hand.... though I am intrigued by the Brighton stuff, as I am supposed to be.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 13/01/2016 12:16

I always pop on to these threads and moan about Matt

usually I'd rather they got rid of a character rather than changed the actor. But in this case I'd've preferred them to keep Matt AT ANY COST

LillianGish · 13/01/2016 12:22

Ruth came on a work placement as a student (a bit like Mathew the relief milker), Alan was the new vicar, Alistair the vet, Rob came to be dairy manager at Berrow, Jolene was on the country and western scene with Eddie. The Fairbrethren appeared out of nowhere to set up a Goose farm despite having no land and no experience of farming and no particular reason to be in Ambridge except for a rather spurious family link (spurious in that their existence had never before being hinted at but their arrival conveniently coincided with the anniversary of Grace Fairbrother's death) that's what I mean by parachuted in. Nothing against new characters, but like to believe in them. Sorry BOOP - happy to BOOP any number of plots and characters, but draw the line at the Fairbrethren especially when their appearance seems to be at the expense of other storylines - Johnny, Tom, Tony (new actor, but then never heard from again), Alistair and Shula - what is happening with those two? Alan and Usha (at least she has been allowed to speak to Ruth) - I would have thought Alan's midwife daughter might find a role with Helen pregnant, Lillian's lost fortune and business dealings ....

BYOSnowman · 13/01/2016 12:24

Jolene was a minor character for quite a while before the showered with Sid

redshoeblueshoe · 13/01/2016 12:32

I'm hoping when Feebs couldn't find Alex that he was busy shagging someone else. I hope she catches him and decides that she's off men. Then studies like mad. #Team Pheobe Grin

GruntledOne · 13/01/2016 15:55

Let's hope Hayley turns up, if she tells Phoebe she'd be insane to give up Oxford Phoebe might listen to her.

GruntledOne · 13/01/2016 15:57

Helen is so much better at calming Rob down now, she is a shadow of who she was.

Th trouble is that she's also in that situation of not knowing what will suddenly send him into a towering rage, like the business with Ian. He didn't want Ian to be a godfather, but got furious when he said no - I suspect because he saw it as another opportunity to wind up the gays.

Dumdedumdedum · 13/01/2016 16:01

GruntledOne, I've come to the conclusion that Rob wanted Ian to turn Helen's offer down in order to isolate her even more and to be able to prove to her that Rob is the only one she can rely on, she has no friends. Why else would he be so insistent about picking god-parents almost before the first trimester is over, particularly since neither of them is, or ever has been, a pillar of the church?

enochroot · 13/01/2016 16:36

Ever since she mentioned Adam and Ian as god-parents he's been scheming to prevent it and chose to use the info about the snog to get the result he wanted.
No mention of whether she actually asked Adam though or is Ian refusing for both of them?

I assume he was smarming to 'the boss' when he first came to the village and invited Adam and Ian to dinner. Or has he adopted homophobia as a means to separate Helen from them?

Who are Henry's god-parents?

OliviaMumsnet · 13/01/2016 16:53

how old is Alice? They've been married a fair while now...she may be thinking about getting pg. ...how is her job? ARE they living in one of thoe holiday cottages?
Forget the milk yields being down, has anyone booked in the holiday cottages with all the flooding? Has anyone thought how the yurts would affect those?
Alan's MW DD whose name escapes me had an affair with a MM...what is she doing now?
And Alistair had a snog with someone around the time of Daniel's 18th
This is all from AmEx which I miss terribly

DSClarke · 13/01/2016 17:45

Come on Feebs! Ditch Alex, he's bloody useless

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 13/01/2016 19:05

Hooray, Kirsty is talking about it!

Stickerrocks · 13/01/2016 19:05

Yay for Kirsty! Come on Roy, don't dissuade her. She has had a word with Pat though.

Stickerrocks · 13/01/2016 19:07

Oh Hayley, the voice of common sense.

Gruach · 13/01/2016 19:08

Ooooh - what was that between the loving parents just then???

BertrandRussell · 13/01/2016 19:08

Oh than heavens for Hayley and Roy!

Stickerrocks · 13/01/2016 19:11

It's good that they can still work as a team to support Feebs. There's always a glimmer of hope that they can have a happily ever after, even if it's not together.

Gruach · 13/01/2016 19:12

Hurrah!!!

Stickerrocks · 13/01/2016 19:14

Hurrah for Feebs!

Stickerrocks · 13/01/2016 19:15

Fire!

Stickerrocks · 13/01/2016 19:16

Such a shame Rob didn't feel fit to grace the Wassail.

BertrandRussell · 13/01/2016 19:16

Oh oh, where's Joe?

Gruach · 13/01/2016 19:19

Joe? Hayley? Phoebe?

Sad
Stickerrocks · 13/01/2016 19:20

I think it's all designed to make Clarrie worry about money & being thrown out again.

GypsyFl0ss · 13/01/2016 19:37

Probably just as well Rob wasn't there this year; he was quite grim leering at Feebs last year and sadly he seems like Teflon so there's no fear of him catching fire.
