go Ruth!

TeenAndTween · 07/01/2016 19:12

Nice to hear David and Ruth having a giggle together.

Gruach · 07/01/2016 19:39

Who asked why all the boys flock to Pip's yard? Haven't you heard she's going to inherit a farm?

TopOfTheCliff · 07/01/2016 20:10

Surely she would only inherit a third of a quarter of a farm?

BYOSnowman · 07/01/2016 20:14

My milk cows bring all the boys to the yard
And they're like
It's better than yours,
Damn right it's better than yours,
I can teach you,
But I have to charge
Etc

If we get pip singing that next episode I will give soc next months wages

Vita this:

I find it very upsetting to listen to Rob and the way he speaks to Helen. I actually read the latest thread before I decide whether to listen to the podcast, I don't listen "in real time" anymore - I missed a fair few until Scruff came home and there was a BOOP point. Will the abuse escalate when the baby is born? Will Helen have really dreadful PND? Will Rob bankrupt Bridge Farm? I won't be listening then, that's for sure. Sad

Part of the "fun" of the Bridge Farm shop stuff (although I hate how they have all rolled over) would have been listening to how it's affected people like Fallon etc. But we get nothing like that. Just more Rob being Knob - I am going by the Lowfield Summaries and this thread. Have LA to Scruff's return (couldn't miss that), and bunny costume one. But that's it for the forseeable...

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/01/2016 20:37

I don't think David and Ruth only own a quarter of the farm. Brookfield Ltd or whatever it's called has A shares and B shares. Elizabeth, Kenton and Shula have B shares which are worth nothing unless the farm is sold. (That's why they would have been quids in if Brookfield had been sold off because of the road scheme.)

David and Ruth have A shares. They have the right to a dividend when the farm makes a profit, whereas the B shares get no dividend.

David must be about 56 by now. It's time he and Ruth started talking about inheritance planning. We need to know if they have an absolute, unfettered right to leave the A shares to their children and we also need to know if the B shares expire when their owners die or if Dan, Meriel and Frilly will end up owning shares in Brookfield in the future.

I'm just going to keep popping in to say that the Archers scriptwriters are misogynist arseholes in the hope that they read the threads.

TASWAMA.

Gruach · 07/01/2016 20:47

TopOfTheCliff There's a past thread where we thrashed out this issue very thoroughly. There's also at least one BBC Archers blog piece about it.

It's all as Gasp0 describes - but I'm confident neither Phil nor the SWs had any intention to divvy up the farm beyond the three Brookfield offspring - probably with a vastly larger share to whoever has shown the capability and willingness to run it profitably.

The off site Archers get nothing unless the farm is sold.

DadDadDad · 07/01/2016 21:01

Do you realise that one of you is about to make the 40,000th post on this series of threads? Shock

I thought the Fairbrother versus Archer scene this evening was nicely done.

Gruach · 07/01/2016 21:09

Having changed my mind about the Archers Topic question (I wrote a long post outlining my reasoning, then looked at myself like thisHmmand deleted it) I of course agree with everyone else that Pseudo should have the 40,000th post.

I am also a lapsed real time lister, and do check what's happening, before actual listening. I hope they speed up the Helrob SL. Can't bear all the anomalies. ( no uni or degree here' btw)

VitaSackvileVest · 07/01/2016 21:20

Yes Bertrand I agree with you - except remembering the old mustard land days and Mr Keri with Betty doing change counting - he's ok!

GypsyFl0ss · 07/01/2016 21:25

How will we know when it's almost the 40k post so we can summon Pseudo?

nagsandovalballs · 07/01/2016 21:31

60 posts to go....

DadDadDad · 07/01/2016 21:35

Er, guys, I don't know how to break it to you, but vita just took us to 40,000!!!!!! Congratulations, vita! Flowers

DadDadDad · 07/01/2016 21:38

I didn't realise some were assuming the milestone would be reached at the of the thread. The threads don't go to 1000 so only a sad person with a spreadsheet could track the exact number.

Marilynsbigsister · 07/01/2016 21:42

I am de lurking again, to say that after 47 yrs of 'conscious' listening and probably a good three years before that... I have stopped. Pat bots complete character morph nearly did it for me a few weeks ago. I find her exceptionally annoying most of the time but NEVER would she be behaving as she is now. It is beyond out of character, it is simply appalling, sloppy plot-driven melodramatic 'east-ender style' script writing . Far below the standard I have enjoyed for half a century. However what has finally done it for me is the Shula/rob horse travesty. She has been around horses all her life. She would never be spooked by a new horse. She has broken horses in for gods sake. (That's the kind of thing a archivist would know) she also has serious reservations about Rob following the previous hunt Sab incident (which seems to have been forgotten) so would never be singing his praises. Sloppy sloppy sloppy... Half a century of huge enjoyment. - I will continue to enjoy this thread.

BYOSnowman · 07/01/2016 21:43

who would be that sad DDD? (joke!)

Well done Vita

3littlefrogs · 07/01/2016 21:55

Oh God, yes.
Shula, the horse, Rob and the "harness".

I despair.

I don't know how the actors can stand it TBH.

DadDadDad · 07/01/2016 22:18

Here's a screenshot of my spreadshit showing that the 940th post on this thread brings the total to 40,000. (There is some subjectivity, as there are cases where a new thread started but there was the odd post to the old thread, and some of those got counted).

I reckon if we keep up the pace, Pseudo can have the 50,000th post round about the time Baby Titchener is born. (Going by the accepted timeline that Helen is now 21 weeks pregnant).

The Phoebe offer is just tosh. She doesn't do anything (at all), has never shown any interest, isn't active in any groups or organisations. No prior indication of educational aptitude. I know a fair few students who have applied and been interviewed for the same course- sorry no chance she would have been accepted.

BYOSnowman · 07/01/2016 22:34

she does it all off air

you know that she was single handedly responsible for Jeremy Corbyn being elected? And the last budget, she came up with the apprenticeship levy - sneaky little minx!
