As if Kirsty wouldn't have known about Roy. Did she just accept that Hayley (her 'friend') had just moved to Birmingham and Phoebe in with her grandparents, without ever questioning it??

I like Charlie too but he's pestering Adam. I would feel so sorry for Ian if everything went wrong. Which is may do down to Rob's malicious behaviour.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/12/2015 21:21

I took it that FreeRiver was astonished that anyone would want to bother with having two big celebration parties, not that she didn't understand the difference between a CP and a marriage. I hope I was right. Even if I am, though, Adam and Ian are having a very low-key reception this time and there isn't going to be a lot of fuss - if it happens.

I'm reminded of a colleague of mine about 30 years ago who had been living with his partner for quite a while. They were going to get married. There were quite a few whispers in the office about his friendship with another colleague, but the wedding went ahead. Unfortunately, within weeks he and his wife split up. He told me that he'd just got caught up in the juggernaut of wedding preparations and hadn't felt able to tell his fiancee that he was having doubts. It must have been awful for all concerned. He did then get together with the colleague and as far as I know that all worked out - for a while, anyway.

Imbroglio · 09/12/2015 21:21

Adam is seriously tempted by Charlie and I get the feeling he's doing the running - asking Charlie out for beers, trying to put him off going to Scotland.

enochroot · 09/12/2015 22:33

Didn't Kirsty know Hayley and Phoebe had left when she was angling so pointedly for a room to rent?
Or was she hoping Elizabeth would offer her one?

BitOutOfPractice · 09/12/2015 23:11

She knew she'd left. But, it seems, not why

Joskar · 09/12/2015 23:14

Oh poor Clarrie! Please, please let something good happen soon. I can't bear it!

Surely when Kirsty heard Roy and Hayley had split up her first question would have been why?

Btw, Adam, Scotland needn't be spoken of in tones of such appalled distaste. There's indoor plumbing, electricity and lots of gay people. It's very civilised these days. Xmas Wink

BitOutOfPractice · 09/12/2015 23:18

Remind me what day the wedding is? I need something to focus on. I have had the most appalling news this week. I need TA to distract and entertain me dammit!

Gruach · 09/12/2015 23:24

So Kirsty didn't ask Hayley - who could surely have done with a friendly shoulder? And she didn't ask Roy - even though she must have realised he could only have room in his house because of some obviously cataclysmic explosion in his domestic arrangements?

Beyond weird.

Perhaps too many of the SWs are too busy doing other things to actually concentrate on what they write.

Gruach · 09/12/2015 23:27

Goodness BOOP. I'm sorry you've had bad news.

I think the wedding is supposed to be entertainingly close to Christmas ...

BitOutOfPractice · 09/12/2015 23:41

Ah ok. I thought it must be this week.

I needed a bit of sparkle in my life this week.

Gruach · 09/12/2015 23:50

I'm not actually sure of the date.

But Kate will probably be hosting some kind of spiritual welcoming ceremony for her billionaires' yurts soon!

And all the residents returning to their de-flooded homes will be throwing parties. Drinks and glitter all round.

minininipie · 10/12/2015 05:58

Wedding is the 14th, so Monday.

Eastpoint · 10/12/2015 06:28

Boop sorry you are having a grim week Cake.

I am not listening anymore and am no longer missing it. I seem to have lost interest in the way you do when you move neighbourhood - mild curiosity but pleased to have moved on. I guess the next step will be not reading these threads .

Sorry to hear that life is poo, BOOP (see what I did there?Grin)

Ruth will be back soon. That will cheer you up ... oh, perhaps not.

I'll shut up now!

trevortrevorslatterfry · 10/12/2015 09:50

Flowers BOOP

I have a BOOP for Brian - "I thought the point of going on holiday was to stay somewhere better than your own house" Grin

Adam is a selfish pig and reminds me of a twat someone I used to know - doesn't want to take the drastic step of actually being with Charlie but wants him to stay around the place so he can have the excitement/ego boost of a bit of flirtation. I hope Charlie has a backbone and leaves now.

Anyway I am having a break from listening and will just keep up via this thread. I can't bear the misery-entertainment of the grundies and people's marriages coming apart at the seams.

Last BOOP for Phoebe being so excited about Oxford though - good luck to her Smile.

DadDadDad · 10/12/2015 11:00

Yes, I'm with Brian on the holiday point.

A couple of years ago, we borrowed a tent and tried camping as a family. It didn't help that the weather was dreadful (August Bank Holiday downpour), but I came back saying why would anyone do camping? It's so much work! (I did lots of camping as a Scout, and I'm glad I had that experience, but I wouldn't call it a way to relax).

But I suspect Brian means staying in a luxury hotel, whereas I'm content with a comfy-but-basic self-catering cottage somewhere nice in England.

DadDadDad · 10/12/2015 11:00

*naice not nice Smile

JessieMcJessie · 10/12/2015 11:10

Does anyone know if Oxford admissions have changed? Feebs said something about "I'll be happy whichever college accepts me" but AFAIK prospective students only get an interview at one college. Yes, there might be multiple interviews with different tutors at the same college, so that was realistic, but giving the idea that you interview with multiple colleges was not. I just don't see why the SWs would not get this right- no plot reason for it and entirely possible that kids at school thinking of applying might be listening, as the Feebs storyline is very much on the lines of "anyone who is clever enough can get in".

LyndaNotLinda · 10/12/2015 11:21

Sorry to hear you're having a difficult time BOOP

While it was hard listening to Clarrie last night, the scene between her and Susan was so well done and really reminded me of the Archers of yore - the realism of her calling Susan and begging for an ear and the dialogue between old friends. There used to be loads of that and it's all got a bit lost.

I do like Adam normally but he's being an utter twat over Charlie. I agree with you trevor. Although part of me is hoping for a bit of passion between the two of them Blush

And yes, it is beyond ridiculous that Kirsty didn't know about Roy's affair.

ppeatfruit · 10/12/2015 11:22

DadDad Has camping ever been a way to relax? Xmas Grin maybe glamping but certainly not bog standard camping.

(My spell checker wanted to put 'clamping' Xmas Grin )

CremeBrulee · 10/12/2015 11:23

I wonder if the Grundys will wind up in one of Kate's yurts for Christmas? Confused

BitOutOfPractice · 10/12/2015 11:26

Thanks for all your kind wishes. Don't want to say too much here as its bitcoins to share if you see what I mean but suffice to say, yesterday was a day I do not wish to repeat.

Anyway, I have a feeling in my water that Adam and Charlie will be together. I think Ian's recent absence has been preparing us for his departure. Which I will be sad about

ppeatfruit · 10/12/2015 11:27

They could do worse, the yurts on the telly always look lovely (on 4 In A Bed) , Xmas Blush I watch it sometimes because our friends have a B & B,!!.
