That's the thing - I like both Ian and Charlie, and Adam doesn't deserve either! Whingeing world-weary-voiced wanker.

BertrandRussell · 09/12/2015 11:57

"I absolutely won't be surprised if it turns out Rob's a git because of his mother"

I won't be either- it's such a depressingly familiar trope. Man can't cook? His mother's fault. Man is misogynist arsehole? It's his mother's fault.

And as for Adam- do middle aged settled people behave like that? Answer, of course- yes they do.Sad

NotdeadyetBOING · 09/12/2015 12:32

Forget Hellin not making it to the wedding, that wedding aint going to happen. Full stop!

NotdeadyetBOING · 09/12/2015 12:32

Is it wrong that I am longing for some hanky panky between Adam and Charlie?

BYOSnowman · 09/12/2015 13:00

I assume we don't hear from Ian so that we don't empathise with him and so we forget him a bit and don't question the fact the Charlie Adam romance is deceitful and grubby

choccyp1g · 09/12/2015 13:43

At last year's Hunt Ball, Adam told Kate that Charlie was a bit young for her. Considering Adam is roughly 20 years older than Kate, does anyone else feel there's something a bit innappropriate about the whole SL? Like Adam is just encouraging Charlie's crush?
I suppose fit-farmer Adam is svelte and gorgeous, unlike chubby-chef Ian and therefore ideal crush material, but he should have recognised the risks, especially after Pavel.
Pavel made a pass at Ian too, and he told him off and immediately told Adam.

enochroot · 09/12/2015 14:02

Charlie has rather thrown himself at Adam and it's not surprising that Adam is tempted but he really does seem to me to be trying to do right by Ian.
Poor Charlie is suffering from unrequited love and I don't think Adam intends to let Ian down.

My bet is that the wedding will go forward, Helen will go but Rob will ruin it. Then it will be forever open to doubt what Adam would have done if Rob hadn't vent his spite.
The outcome depends on whether the Ian actor has a panto contract!

Gruach · 09/12/2015 14:11

I don't carry their birthdays in my head but the blog confirms roughly 10 years between them. Adam 1967, Kate 1977 ...

Xmas Blush
choccyp1g · 09/12/2015 14:21

Ah was mixing Kate with Alice, who was a large baby whereas Adam was a teenage scandal. Anyway he only said it to put Kate off.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 09/12/2015 14:45

You don't end up being abusive because of your mother tho7gh.
A child not being able to cook may be the parents' fault. But an adult can learn. Etc.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 09/12/2015 14:46

It would be plausible though if Hellin goes through a phase of thinking, poor wob. It's not his fault. I can save him.

Before realising he is a dick because he chooses it.

BYOSnowman · 09/12/2015 14:49

They are ramping it up too quickly for Helen to have any thoughts outside of 'what just happened?'

ApplesinmyPocket · 09/12/2015 15:12

I really like Charlie too, something about him just grabbed my heart - so tough and efficient when we met him, so vulnerable underneath.

I only started listening last year and Ian has not really been featured much, he's very shadowy to me.

So I'm in the camp of hoping for Charlie to win Adam's heart, while at the same time feeling a bit shabby for wanting it Smile

trevortrevorslatterfry · 09/12/2015 16:05

I feel sorry for Ian, who's too fat to fit in his civil partnership suit for the wedding. Sounds like Adam has permission to stray Hmm

Minimammoth · 09/12/2015 16:08

I wonder how many yurts Kate has bought in. I rather fancied one As a simmer house. For a 12ft, all weather, they were around £6000 before any furnishing or wood burner. That's quite a lot of capital outlay.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/12/2015 16:28

Jill is on Desert Island Discs on Sunday 27th December! I know she's not everybody's favourite but she reminds me of my mum, so I have a very soft spot for her. Xmas Smile

lljkk · 09/12/2015 17:13

Ian is lovely & Charlie is a selfish twat. imho. Adam is selfish too, though. :( Ian deserves far far better.

Imbroglio · 09/12/2015 18:19

I think Adam is just a bit bored of Ian. The wedding idea feels like Ian trying to get Adam back on board.

Freeriver · 09/12/2015 18:51

I still don't understand why Adam and Ian need to have a 'wedding' ? They had a Civil Ceremony isn't that sufficient?

Just to add Minimammoth I have some friends of friends (quite upmarket types) who have had Yurt holidays this year - seems to be the new "in" thing though can't see how different it is from camping myself (which I wouldn't fancy).

Gruach · 09/12/2015 19:11

I don't want Roy to die. Xmas Sad

Something that's just occurred to me given all the mirroring in the Christmas show ...

BoreOfWhabylon · 09/12/2015 19:19

Nooooooo Gruach ! Surely SOC won't do that?

And poor, poor Clarrie Sad

Gruach · 09/12/2015 19:22

So. The Dower House will now have one person resident? And Ambridge Hall (with room enough for paying guests) will have two? One of those I suppose will host Mungo and parents since Lynda mentioned him coming over Christmas.

And Grange Farm is still empty.

FinestGrundyTurkey · 09/12/2015 20:15

Freeriver, people can be very particular about relationship commitments!
Some same-sex couples felt a civil partnership wasn't quite right & they should be able to marry
Some hetero couples say they don't want to marry, it's not fair that they can't have a civil partnership (the husband/wife thing has overtones of ownership or something)

Hadron21 · 09/12/2015 20:23

The metaphors are a bit clunky. Roy and Brenda moaning about past mistakes and the pan boiling over. Don't cry over spilt milk.

JessieMcJessie · 09/12/2015 21:14

Goodness me FreeRiver did you completely miss all the media coverage of the importance to the gay community of being able to marry in exactly the same way as heterosexuals? It's a matter of extremely important principle. Your comment is borderline offensive.
