Wishful thinking. I think she's in it for the long haul Sad

OP posts:

But then Helen reassuring him that he was a good parent was horrible too- as if he had called her back because he was unsure of himself.

Gruach · 17/09/2015 08:05

He couldn't do that Scary - Henry would have told Helen. It's too unsubtle.

What he did was to take advantage of the tiniest opportunity to ruin her evening.

Minimammoth · 17/09/2015 08:06

My guess is. Helen will attack/murder Rob to protect Henry. She will end up in the dock. No one will believe her, as she has always praised him and said how wonderful he was. Jess will save her.

BYOSnowman · 17/09/2015 08:16

I'm sure soc can find an old eastenders script to recycle

RhinestoneCowgirl · 17/09/2015 08:22

Children fall over when they're running around, it's what they do.

I'd be extremely unimpressed if DH called me home for a bruised knee, as he's perfectly capable of dealing with it and offering comfort himself. But then, he's not a controlling arse...

InimitableJeeves · 17/09/2015 08:39

Hmmm, what would we like them to mention....

I want them to finish off the Golf Club storyline, if only by telling us that they've got into horrendous debt through the combined mismanagement of Martyn and the restaurant manager friend he got in. Come to think of it, it could provide quite an interesting storyline if suddenly there was acres of golf club land up for grabs.

InimitableJeeves · 17/09/2015 08:44

I do think the writing and acting of Helen last night was very good. I was just thinking that at last she was beginning to stand up to him when he tried to belittle the WI and when she made it clear that it would be ridiculous for Emma and her to hold a grudge; only to be disappointed when she meekly went home early. But then I was cheering for her again when she called him on how unnecessary it was. There definitely has been a change in her attitude, there was a time when she would have been virtually apologising for having anything to do with Emma and insisting that she would stay home if he didn't want her to go out.

I'm also wondering slightly about Rob talking about the possibility of a baby as something for the future, maybe coupled with Helen being pale: is it now clear that she isn't pregnant? And maybe that's why he's extra snippy?

Snakesandbastards · 17/09/2015 09:12

Just seen Rex and Toby on BBC breakfast and Toby looks like Hugh grant !

Gruach · 17/09/2015 09:15

OMG! What are they saying?

(No TV here.)

Snakesandbastards · 17/09/2015 09:29

It was to do with grace and the burning barn and x number of years since it happened. wasn't paying that much attention til Toby and Rex came on It showed the actors reading from scripts. Peggy is 96 and well sprightly!

BYOSnowman · 17/09/2015 09:29

Well if they are doing the sofa merry go round they are obviously here to stay and coming to a big story - which hopefully sees Toby disappear

Snakesandbastards · 17/09/2015 09:31

The bad boy is the best looking.

Agree with Gruach that Knob wouldn't have hurt Henry - quite the opposite. I think he wants Henry to like him more than he likes Helen. That will be another weapon in his armoury.

ppeatfruit · 17/09/2015 09:42

Playingsolitaire I reckon that Lilian thinks everything 's good for a laugh, she 'd only go to the W.I. if it believed in "Gin and Jerusalem" Grin

I also said "Don't do it Helen!" when knob talked about adopting Henry Grin

BYOSnowman · 17/09/2015 09:58

Snakes - who is the good looking one! I will be generous and assume they don't photograph we'll and look better 'live'

Is quiffy Toby?

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 17/09/2015 10:48

Jess will save her

Did anybody else first read this as Jesus? Grin

DylanNells · 17/09/2015 11:01

RhinestoneCowgirl Just caught up with last night's ep, as I was out last night at my WI meeting (we didn't sing Jerusalem).

Ditto! We drank wine and ate chocolate and cake and had a good laugh. We've only been going 18 months and the only 'old' member we have is far from an old biddy.

The HellRob SL is being so well written and acted isn't it? God he's awful (seem to be saying that a lot!)

ppeatfruit · 17/09/2015 11:14

BYOS I was going to post exactly the same thing. Not keen on facial hair, or small eyes. So Toby isn't doing it for me. Rex? meh Grin

WipsGlitter · 17/09/2015 11:23

Very well done last night. She's beginning to get his measure but is still (rightly) afraid of him.

squeaver · 17/09/2015 13:52

Oooh, that's so interesting about the adoption process. I hope they do it accurately (can't remember the Dan one).

R&H both acting superbly. Storyline still being handled subtly and cleverly. Was delighted to hear from Lils but thought the "amusing" counterpoint to the R&H scenes was as overplayed as the ghastly Italian nonsense the other week.

Toomuchtea · 17/09/2015 14:26

I wasn't much impressed with the Lillian and the WI stuff either. Or with Jennie and John Tregorran - why bring all that up again?

Helen I think is still in the managing what Rob puts before her phase - I don't think it's occurred to her yet that this will be the way the rest of her life goes, if not considerably worse, and she hasn't asked herself if she wants to spend the rest of her life in an endless power struggle. It might be that she stays in this phase until someone else asks her how she stands it, and the scales really fall from her eyes. A role for Kirsty maybe?

BoreOfWhabylon · 17/09/2015 14:34

I'm willing to bet that Knob told Henry that Mummy would be cross with him for tearing his trousers. Wonder if Henry will tell sHelen?

Toomuchtea · 17/09/2015 14:43

Yes, I think you're absolutely right. That's just what he would do.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 17/09/2015 15:02

He won't have said "mummy will be cross" he'd say "oh dear, what will mummy say?"deniable and more frightening

Eastenders has overmight adoption stories all the time.

And the thing is sometimes even abusive men are just nice for no reason.it is part ofwhat keeps their dp with themand it is confusing because the victim ends up second huesding and looking for a motive all the time but if they criticise the abuser for being 'nice' or caring then it makes the bictim look unhinged and ungrateful.

So i predict sometimes Rob will just do nice things.

That said I think he avoided meeting so he could look like a good parent. I do not see why Hellin keeps badgering him for his opinions though. Leave it well enough alone!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 17/09/2015 15:03

Guessing not huesding.
