Is Ed's wedding very soon?

ZeroFunDame · 23/05/2015 10:21

I've understood the Friday reference now - and it's a pity because I woke up hoping they'd carry on tonight with all the fun and fights and gossip of the reception; then realised it's Saturday. So frustrating!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 23/05/2015 10:23

He has remarried and is very happy. Except when he's in a room with his ex and all the feelings come to the fore again. It was an extremely painful period in his life and he hasn't lost the feelings.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/05/2015 10:24

I'm glad for him, BYOS. No easy answers in those situations.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 23/05/2015 10:29

No - even harder for their kids. Such a minefield arranging any events!!

It is irritating that we go from one sibling fall out to another. Particular such a contrived one

R4 · 23/05/2015 10:34

I'm going to retract my cynical comment about the budget only stretching to 10 actors! It actually married well (arf) with the stripped back / pared down nature of the wedding.
The only jarring note was the same as BR's, when Ed was talking to some random bloke and I had no idea which of the generic menfolk it was. Luckily the SW threw in a "all of us at Bridge Farm" so I could work it out.

ZeroFunDame · 23/05/2015 10:42

I didn't think it was Charlie - I thought it was Rex. Really, really struggled to understand why he was so much with Ed on his wedding day. GrinHmm

BertrandRussell · 23/05/2015 10:44

I thought that it was Charlie about to quiz Ed about culverts........I was excited for a minute.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 23/05/2015 10:45

Part of the charm of the archers is that they convey scenes well with a small cast!

It does make it imperative that you can tell the characters apart though!!

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/05/2015 11:42

According to THIS (DM link, sorry) Keri Davies says
We can only have 39 actor bookings in a week, which is roughly six or seven in an episode. Sometimes if you have a big party you will have eight or nine, so it is up to us to decide with all of those restrictions how we are going to tell the tales.

ZeroFunDame · 23/05/2015 11:47

Which reminds me - no one here has said they joined the Ed and Emma Facebook Q&A yesterday ...

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 23/05/2015 12:20

@ZeroFunDame

Which reminds me - no one here has said they joined the Ed and Emma Facebook Q&A yesterday ...

I so meant to but was at the school disco

ZeroFunDame · 23/05/2015 12:28

Cool!

(I dare say its still available to read.)

ppeatfruit · 23/05/2015 14:04

AAAaaaah A really lovely wedding (I want to see the pics pleeease).

Yes to the poster who said Ed n' Will have been enemies since they was babies so it took a huge effort for them both to make up (it was loverly, a 3 tissue episode).

Gozogozo · 23/05/2015 17:15

ZFD I thought it was Rex or Toby & only twigged at all of us from Bridge Farm too...twas a lovely episode & if Will was perhaps generous more than might be expected, it was as much for Clarrie & Eddie as thanks to Nic's strong words. Both boys have always been swayed by their parents. It's heartwarming to have such a real family in soap land - complicated, low level feuding over a long period (no over the top shrieking one week & murdered/best friends the very next)

Icimoi · 23/05/2015 18:44

Yup, definite BOOP there. But I do still want to know about Clarrie's dress. I get it that presumably she's happy about it despite not being consulted in any way, but I'd still like to know how she reacted and what it's like - did they go for vintage tat or what.

cheminotte · 23/05/2015 19:19

Lovely wedding and they even get a honeymoon after all!

PseudoBadger · 23/05/2015 20:13

Just caught up - what a lovely episode.
But bloody hell they need to replace Tom or Charlie PDQ - didn't they 'screen' test them or compare them?

OP posts:
LillianGish · 24/05/2015 08:57

Another one who had no idea it was Tom talking until he mentioned Bridge Farm (needed signalling much earlier in the conversation). Otherwise loved it! Just hoping we don't go into a time slip now with the wedding still going on in tonight's episode.

oddfodd · 24/05/2015 09:28

Glad I wasn't the only one who was confused that Charlie was at the wedding and giving Ed a present.

I listened to Weds/thurs/fri back to back and it was lovely. The film will be great Smile

Very happy here

minkGrundy · 24/05/2015 09:39

I was running through in my head the list of people it might be Tom, Charlie, Fairbrethren etc. When hog roast was mentioned.

It is distracting when you are trying to work out who it is.

Wonder if so many of us thought it was Charlie because we were hoping it was for culvert operations update.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 24/05/2015 10:33

Alice! Alice! Where the fuck was Alice?
She should have been at the sewing bee, surely? and also at the wedding???
Also why wasn't Jazzer automatically Best man?
I know was lovely chance for Edwood and Willyum to make friend but really? Ed would've just asked his best mate, no?

ZeroFunDame · 24/05/2015 10:44

Alice?

Yes.

But where the hell was CHRIS? The bride's brother - not mentioned once in the last six months at least? (Unless someone said his name at a cricket thing, when I do tend to tune out ...) Neither Neil nor Susan seem to have remembered his existence. He's wiped from Emma's memory. I didn't hear of him having a wild time with his mate and soon to be BIL Ed at the stag do. I'm puzzled. Surely people are let out of drama school for major family events?Confused

PseudoBadger · 24/05/2015 10:46

I miss Chris. I think Jazzer doesn't 'do' being Best Man Olivia? Presumably as a cunning plot device in this case Wink

OP posts:
Icimoi · 24/05/2015 11:06

Another one here who was convinced that was Charlie till Bridge Farm was mentioned. I thought it was great that they gave Ed a honeymoon in recognition that he saved Tony's life.

ZeroFunDame · 24/05/2015 11:19

Oh goodness - am blubbing again.

So Emma (?) did say Tom's name as she arrived with Joe.

Listening again it seemed Tom meant something very specific re two people being "meant for one another". Kirsty?
