Deluged damp squid or not? And has Peggy been assisted off the mortal coil by Rob yet?
And when will JD and Brian remember Debbie?

I know what a onesie is. In its current interpretation.

But in a previous century, that I fondly recall, a onesie would have brought to mind a leotard type contraption.

So if you say to me "leopardskin onesie" and "Joe Grundy" in the same sentence ...

trevortrevorslatterfry · 18/03/2015 11:23

I like Joe not wanting to get grease on his ferret magazine but hated him wearing a tiger onesie! The first was in character but the second not at ALL.

I hope Kirsty helps Helen to see the light.

Icimoi · 18/03/2015 12:36

It could be fun if Pat and Tony insist that Kirsty is the one who should take over AO and Knob tries to object. If Hellin is no longer involved P and T would be perfectly justified in telling him to butt out, so he would then have the dilemma of deciding whether to do a U-turn and encourage Hellin to go back.

stilllearnin · 18/03/2015 12:45

Well thanks for that zero Grin

Would pat put k in the shop so close to Tom? She sounds like a flump but I like her. I liked Pat getting all testy with her too. It's so true that you cannot cry in front of lots of people in your family but a small kindness or somebody unexpectedly remembering you means a lot.

stilllearnin · 18/03/2015 12:46

Oh teary not testy!!

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 18/03/2015 12:51

Also interesting note that Pat calls Helen a housewife I know plenty of women not in paid employment but don't know ANY of 'em who call themselves that!
She's not an SAHM that's for sure, she's always foisting Henry off on randoms: Emma, Tom, the mate from NCT, nursery?
What will she do between 9 and 3 come Sept when he starts school (he is only a bit younger than DS2)

squeaver · 18/03/2015 12:59

yes that was a very loaded term for Pat to use!

When Henry's at school, she'll spend the day making Knob's dinner and warming his slippers by the fire.

Although I do think he'll be fired. I'd love to see Pat and Tony (and Tom!!) have to decide between him or Kirsty to run AO.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/03/2015 13:08

Pat is 63 and non-metropolitan - even though she's more politically aware than anyone else in the area, I think she probably would use the term 'houswife'.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 18/03/2015 15:17

Yeah I can't see women I know of that age talking about a "stay at home mum" especially given that she hasn't got a young baby and her child is at nursery.

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2015 15:28

Yes Gaspode I love the image of Jo having a pedicure in his tiger onesie and Sabrina's old fur coat adding 'tone' to Grey Gables. Especially with his ferrets and cheese and onion pasty. The 'proper' residents are going to be thrilled by the smell alone Grin Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 18/03/2015 15:45

Somehow I think that Caroline and Oliver will make a special effort to find housing for the Grundies! Grin

Hazel Woolley must be due to reappear soon. I was wondering if she will try to use the devastation as a lever to change her tenants/rent and maybe the shop. Not sure how you go about change of use on a shop, but if they get the temporary packing shed setup working, maybe she'd use that as evidence that the village doesn't need her property?

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2015 15:49

I got a very sarcastic tone from Pat when she said 'housewife'. Anyone else?

Errol I reckon that SOC is bringing in Hazel as soon as he thinks there is room for more drama. Oh dear.

Iwantacampervan · 18/03/2015 16:01

Knob seems able to get home for lunch frequently - I can see Helen as the 1950s housewife, she wold have fitted well into the TV programme shown last night.

mummytime · 18/03/2015 16:09

I think Pat was struggling to find a way to describe Helen's occupation. Pat was also not about to very publicaly wash all the family dirty washing with Kirsty, who is the ex-fiance.

Minimammoth · 18/03/2015 16:11

Bop for Pat and Kirsty' conversation. I think Pat conveyed exactly what Kirsty needed to know in those very few words.
I would love to know Knob's back story.

HumphreyCobbler · 18/03/2015 16:41

So glad Kirsty is back! Hope she stays.

given that Kenton is now deep in financial shit I thought his rage entirely appropriate. How on earth will he pay for it all now? Being technically in the wrong to have spent all the money before it was in the bank is only going to piss him off more, surely?

cheminotte · 18/03/2015 16:42

Boop from me too for Pat and Kirsty's (almost) heart to heart. I think housewife was used deliberately.

LillianGish · 18/03/2015 18:39

Tom and Kirsty do have form for getting back together so it would't be without precedent if that were to happen. I still can't see the whole thread so am having to read posts in reverse - infuriating!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 18/03/2015 18:50

Tom and Tom make me think

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 18/03/2015 19:22

Tom and Kirsty!! Although Tom would probably prefer to marry himself

ErrolTheDragon · 18/03/2015 19:28

My guess will be that Tom will want to get back with Kirsty but she's now been shat on by him twice so she should have more sense. So, clearly she should manage AO and pair up with Patrick. After a reasonable amount of time (about 10 years) and a couple of kids, Patrick will die in a freak bittern attack and Tom, who will never have got over Kirsty, will be there for her. Sorted.

Minimammoth · 18/03/2015 21:00

Brilliant long term plotting there Errol

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 18/03/2015 21:04

We can only hope that Rob doesn't return to his old tricks and start trying it on with Kirsty.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 18/03/2015 21:04

Patrick will die in a freak bittern attack

Genius, Errol Grin

Icimoi · 18/03/2015 21:46

It was good to hear Lynda getting back to full fighting form despite her distress. With the village newly united (apart from a few gullible types like Susan) JE and Charlie should have a major fight on their hands.
