Deluged damp squid or not? And has Peggy been assisted off the mortal coil by Rob yet?
And when will JD and Brian remember Debbie?

I thought Kenton's anger was entirely plausible given the circumstances: horribly jet-lagged, facing the devastation in the pub, news of Frida's death topped off by David's financial bombshell. I'm surprised it didn't result in a fracas to be honest.

minkGrundy · 17/03/2015 07:48

Surely it would be Lyndacide. Grin
I still think Scruff will be doing something heroic or heartwarming like raising an orphaned lamb.

Littleturkish · 17/03/2015 07:51

Ohhhhh Kenton was angry!

The Phoebe/Kate/Hayley Mother's Day scene was excellent. Are we building up to Kate being kicked off her course and running off to India to do some more yoga?

Helen/Rob has calmed a bit, nice work from the writers to ease off a bit.

Halsall · 17/03/2015 08:59

I read that as 'Linda's laughter', Apint

I suppose it was fairly predictable that, after Lizzie'n'Smugula had rolled over so easily about the cancelled sale, Kenton would be the one to lose it. I often feel the need to defend Kenton against the dismissive treatment he usually gets from members of his own closest family, but I wasn't too impressed with his rage.

Harking back briefly to SOC's claims to be channelling Ayckbourn, WT actual F? The JennyDarling kitchen story was pure misery and tedium with nary a spark of wit or lightness, AND it seemed to go on for about 10,000 years. If he genuinely can't see how agonisingly bad it was, that's a worry.

ppeatfruit · 17/03/2015 09:01

I reckon Kenton did the rage very well, he's angry with himself as well of course.

Love the pome for Freda Gaspode Grin

Zero I thought of your prediction about Trevor yesterday!

Halsall · 17/03/2015 09:03

PS I see that OldPip has resurfaced in that new Caitlin Moran thing, 'Raised by Wolves'. They played a clip on the radio and I immediately recognised the voice that so tormented us, even though she's assumed a Wolverhampton (ish) accent...

BoreOfWhabylon · 17/03/2015 09:05

Oh, I did enjoy that! Don't think we've ever heard Kenton lose his rag before, have we?

On another tack - only in The Archers would anyone think it would be a good idea for a man not in his first flush of youth, who has been crushed by a bull and subsequently spent a couple of months in hospital and rehab to finally return home and totter through the door to be greeted by a massive famleee parteee.

Alsoflamingo · 17/03/2015 09:29

Had a tear in my eye listening to poor old Bert .

Enjoyed the episode and thought Kenton's fury was convincing. Suspect a lot of camel's back going on, though. Kind of pathetic to expect inherited money to sort one out through life isn't it? My sense is a good part of his rage was directed inwards (albeit subconsciously); he should be able to stand on his own two feet financially at his age and stage.

Wonder how the other sibs will react to Kenton's stance….

R4 · 17/03/2015 10:02

Something that confused me: when Fallon was doing the talking about the flood thing, did I hear her saying "you should have seen it a few weeks ago". So Dave has had weeks in which to tell/not tell Kenton?

Kirk1 · 17/03/2015 10:18

R4, that confused me too. Did we skip some weeks of Ambridge time between flood week (day...) and this week?

ZeroFunDame · 17/03/2015 10:45

Hah - all the timey-whimey stuff has come back to bite them on the nether end.

I see Trevor is married to Barbera and they have a daughter called Amy. Does anyone (with an Archers crib) have any further info on these potential new residents / visitors? Hope they'll be allowed voices for Freda's funeral.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/03/2015 10:48

Yes, Fallon said 'a couple of weeks' ago'. So they've silently compacted a week of dull cleanup and got back on real time. Although clearly the waters haven't subsided as Hayley met with significant diversions.

BOOP from me for Bert and Jill's discussion of the funeral.

squeaver · 17/03/2015 11:20

David and Lizzie and Shula did all have a conversation about calling Kenton, didn't they? So he can't really expect any support from them. It is entirely in character that he would have maxed out his cards which, of course, they should have realised but I can understand them not wanting to ruin his holiday.

As someone mentioned earlier, I'm slightly surprised that it was just a ring for Jolene and not a harbourside apartment in Sydney.

I think if they'd stuck to real time after the flood, it would have been extremely boring splash, squelch, sorrow for seven days straight.

Lindt70Percent · 17/03/2015 11:36

I loved Kenton's anger! He shouldn't have spent money that he didn't actually have yet, after all sales can fall through for all sorts of reasons. However, David should have told him as soon as the decision was made as it was obvious they'd be spending more and more while they were away and could have at least curtailed their spending (is that a new ring Jolene?) or tried to downgrade their flight home, if possible.

Bert's bravery was heartbreaking.

I hated all the flood stuff (was like listening to a bad episode of Casualty) but did enjoy last night's episode.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 17/03/2015 12:29

wouldn't they have had to pay customs on the ring??
at least they can sell if needs be...
He was crazy cross, I was smirking to self.

I was surprised though that as they had been emailing back (I'm sure we heard about a pic (Shula and Lizzie) of Meriel's new haircut? And FFS bit late for Meriel's trust fund she must be nearly doing her HSC by now. (At Erinsboro high perhaps?!)
Do we have the Grey Gables trip advisor link?

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 17/03/2015 12:31

Sorry what I mean is I am surprised that they waited to tell her about Freda....
That is going to affect takings as much as anything, where'll they find someone so willing in the kitchen for 2 and 6 a day?

ppeatfruit · 17/03/2015 12:39

Well Olivia they said they're going to have to have a new kitchen at the Bull so Freda'd had to have a holiday (if she'd lived) for a long time anyway

Also if you wear a ring through customs and throw away the box no one is any the wiser Grin

Minimammoth · 17/03/2015 13:40

Pips voice is getting more difficult to recognise.
Def. Boop for Bert and Gill.
As for time, Amnesiabridge maybe. Or will they all have a Bobby Ewing moment, and it will all have been a dream.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/03/2015 13:45

Grey Gables Trip Advisor link

BOOP point for TripAdvisor, they've worked it out it's not a real establishment and not deleted it, just put a nice warning message at the top! Smile

squeaver · 17/03/2015 14:04

Lol at Freda working for 2 and 6 a day. Maybe Jenny darling's kitchen could be pressed into service? Or Jill could up her pie and casserole making quota?

Iwantacampervan · 17/03/2015 14:15

I made it safely to and from 'Borsetshire' over the weekend - no signs of any floods, the only road diversions in place were due to motorway closures.

ZeroFunDame · 17/03/2015 14:22

One would hope that the job at the Bull is Emma's for the taking.

(I sometimes suspect the SWs lose track of who is doing what: Emma has been a cleaner for Adam and Ian, Brookfield and Peggy over the past few years but I'm not at all clear which of those jobs still exists. Her aunt was supposed to be babysitting while she was at the Lodge, what happened to that arrangement?)

But perhaps the upcycled cup cake business has already brought in so much money she'll be able to turn the Bull down. In which case it will have to be Cathy ...

Aside from the troubles at the Bull I am really missing Nic and her offspring (not so much Will), Johnny, Maurice, Jamie, Josh, Chris, Vicarage Amy as opposed to potential Amy ... That's a lot of drama school hours.

Travelledtheworld · 17/03/2015 14:28

I enjoyed Kentons Anger. He has always been irresponsible hasn't he ?
