Rejoice, for the Dopeys are staying in Ambridge to feast on Oedipal flapjacks. Or at least David is. Discuss The Archers here.

Will Peggy make it to the end of this thread?

Yep, Ruth in car crash. That's my bet too.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 01/03/2015 19:17

Water coming up the drains in the parlour

PseudoBadger · 01/03/2015 19:17

Kenton is probably buying a Sydney apartment...

OP posts:
nauticant · 01/03/2015 19:18

Well that was annoying. A fabricated conflict between Ruth and Jill and more omens and portents than you can shake a headless chicken at.

GypsyFloss · 01/03/2015 19:19

There's multiple options for deading tonight.

David and Pip drowned in the milking parlour. Jill and Freda flattened by a tree. Rooth and Josh/Ben in a pile up. Place your bets.... I'm going for one not listed...Lizzy in a ditch on her way home from Shula's.

dairyfarmerswife · 01/03/2015 19:20

I think Pip said 'the pitnis full of water, it's coming up through the drains'

The pit is the part of the milking parlour where the operator stands and is below ground level, a bit like an inspection pit. I'm a bit Confused about it coming up through the drains though, because the drains in our pit go straight to the slurry lagoon due to the quantity of muck which gets washed down them, they wouldn't go into a normal drain...

dairyfarmerswife · 01/03/2015 19:21

Oops... 'The pit is full of water...'

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 01/03/2015 19:22

I wonder if Jill might sotmc. They've given her a massive SL to leave on if so and it would be a shocker. Particularly as Ruth has been so bitchy

Speaking of which - why is it always assumed that a man can't possibly make a decision on his own and it must be his mum/wife behind it?

GypsyFloss · 01/03/2015 19:24

I wonder whether you might be right BYOS .

Littleturkish · 01/03/2015 19:24

Cannot wait to see the Tom/Rob story play out.

I suspect Tom will play the 'unmasker' of Rob's downfall. His paternity, financial instability and disproportionate anger will all be unveiled at the same time, and Tom will be there, pointing his finger and showing Rob the door...

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 01/03/2015 19:26

Oh I do hope you're not right, BYOS! Jill reminds me rather a lot of my own mum. Sad

R4 · 01/03/2015 19:42

Another possibility: Ruth goes oop north despite David's concerns about the weather. On the way they have a crash. Ruth is fine but Ben gets badly injured. Her desperation to sort out one section of the family (HeatherPet) causes harm to another (Ben).
Ruth comes to her senses but has Guilt for the rest of her days.
And HP SOTMC.

TheSilveryPussycat · 01/03/2015 19:45

BOOP point - Shula and Elizabeth eating biscuits.

Sink-hole ahoy, I think.

When is SOC on Feedback? Has this all been a Cunning Plan all along?

R4 · 01/03/2015 19:45

What day were we in btw?
Why go to Prudda on a Sunday and make Ben miss school. Also I can't believe that Shula would have Shepherd's Pie for Sunday dinner, she's a Sunday Roast sort of person.
Was it Saturday?

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/03/2015 19:47

Ooh! Stürm und Drang und PORTENTS!

I think no one will be deaded but there will be a Near Miss that will make them all realise what is important (that's right - Famleee) and draw the First Family of Ambridge close together again, just as the massive sinkhole opens, threatening to subsume the whole of Borsetshire into its gaping maw...

RocknRollNerd · 01/03/2015 19:49

Kerist that was clunky with portents of dooom! All Ruth needs is a nun with guitar and a cute orphan in her car and we'll know she's a gonner.

I'm despairing over the whole 'what would telling Kenton achieve' line they're all desperately trying to convince themselves of. I'm surely not the only one who would spend totally differently on my 'trip of a lifetime' holiday if I thought I had 6 figures coming my way versus my usual income. It wasn't just the flights FFS!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 01/03/2015 19:51

It must be Saturday because its karaoke night

I hate the way they fuck around with the days. Part of what I love about the archers is that you can imagine you are eavesdropping on real life!!

DopeyDawg · 01/03/2015 19:52

Did someone mention my name??? Grin

GypsyFloss · 01/03/2015 19:56

DDD is that you? Are you back to do spreadshit maps for us?

choccyp1g · 01/03/2015 20:06

I thought I'd strayed into the start of Casualty with all these portents of doom. Floods, motorway pile up, trees falling , and most of the cast being about 90. Which ones going to join Tony in Borchester General. Will the Ambridge coma fairy be busy again?

EBearhug · 01/03/2015 20:06

It was definitely Saturday, because Ruth kept going on about having to go now, else Ben wouldn't be back in time for school, when David was trying to persuade her to go the next day instead.

My money's on Ruth or David, because they didn't say goodbye properly, and there will be years of guilt for whichever of them survives.

But these things would be far better without all the clunky signposting. They would be far more shocking, then, whereas this way, there's just a sense of relief that we finally got there.

ragged · 01/03/2015 20:20

I like the day variations, I keep up anyway.

Nobody's gonna die, there will be some kind of emergency with no important long term impacts which still "brings them closer together" blarblar. Ambridge Reconciliation Fairy, I guess. Bit like Baby Henry & Tony's Accident.

Bea · 01/03/2015 20:50

Nobody dead!! It's not Eastenders! (almost!! Though not quite!!)
Just query over flooding in pit... Leading to drainage issues... leading to sinkhole. .. Leading to no Road!!
Ambridge is saved. .. Deevid and roooth will sort it out.. But not until we've had endless sarcastic, mean, passive aggressive remarks from Ruth!
Personally I'm hoping /waiting for David to lose his temper with Ruth and give her a right dressing down over her horribbleness and her betrayal re:Sam threatened the "famileeee" a zillion times more than wanting to stay at Brookfield!! Pah!!

TopazRocks · 01/03/2015 21:19

I am pretty sure Hayley did say 'mom' a few weeks ago. I only became aware of this phenomenon in the last few years and was quite pleased to hear Hayley saying it right. Smile But I thought the 'mom' word was a thing in a very specific area - around Worcester rather than the whole of the West Midlands and Borsetshire. Happy to be put right though.

I think there will be no road accident at all. Too many omens. So a red herring. Ruth and Ben will come back safely. Though less sure of the fate of some of the oldies, esp. Heather and/or Jill. There will be some kind of flood though - in the parlour obvs. The weather talk seems a bit over the top, no? I did look on BBC for, I think, Coventry and Gloucester - and it seems Dr Foster is safe at present. Grin

TopazRocks · 01/03/2015 21:22

BTW was Shula feeding biscuits to her wee sister? I too think they should tell Kenton asap. He will be in deep financial doodah otherwise.
