Will Peggy make it to the end of this thread?

Possibly because they have always treated her like the world's wonder? She thinks she is in charge and they are not to be trusted. Grin

songbird · 10/03/2015 13:09

Oh Pip was hilariously bad last night. She said 'I can't just leave' (por something similar) twice to Ruth so I wonder if she's gearing up to blame her mum now.

I love Bert!

Hakluyt · 10/03/2015 13:12

Isn't that odd. I thought she was really convincing being shocked and distressed and everything getting on top of her.....And I thought she was convincing being tough and competent over the milking machine thingy and t flood. It's her day to day stuff I find hard to take.............

trevortrevorslattery · 10/03/2015 14:18

Definitely gearing up to blame Ruth songbird

ErrolTheDragon · 10/03/2015 15:47

Bit mean of them to have Ben spend a whole day rescuing Freda's recipe books if she's going to SOHMC - that'd just be so ungrateful. Such a sweet thing to do though - and the sort of act which crops up here regularly enough on the 'unstealthy boast' type threads to be totally credible.

ZeroFunDame · 10/03/2015 17:15

Well Bert seemed equally fond of the recipe books - they'll be a lovely memento for him.Sad

But perhaps he'll take a few to the hospital for her. Would be very fitting for Freda to depart this life holding the tools of her trade.

toldmywrath · 10/03/2015 17:25

Freda is playing a big part at the moment-not bad for a voiceless actor.
I thought Pip's intonation today(2.15rpt) was dreadful, squeaking up & down like a fiddler's elbow (or something similar)

toldmywrath · 10/03/2015 17:27

I suppose as we get near to the 1000 posts mark, we'll need a re- born thread.

PseudoBadger · 10/03/2015 18:15

Don't worry new thread soon...

toldmywrath · 10/03/2015 18:16

Sorry Pseudo that was my feeble attempt at "born (of the) thread" I'll get me coat...

ErrolTheDragon · 10/03/2015 18:22

Those criticising Pip's under-stress delivery... do any of you have a teen/young adult? Grin

enochroot · 10/03/2015 18:35

Good point Errol Grin

Her slightly patronising to her parents voice struck a chord with me!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/03/2015 18:45

She often reminds me of kevin the teenager with his breaking voice

Last night I just thought bad acting and can't get over the fact Ruth sounds younger than her own daughter at times.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/03/2015 19:15

There you go - jazzers safely housed

Charlie and Adam - cringe. Please can we not have to deal with this nonsense for much longer.

Like Adam pointing out BL could be blamed!

And unsurprised Eddie didn't pay the insurance. Poor clarrie.

I like the way pat always gets rolled out to do the politics

kiritekanawa · 10/03/2015 19:21

this is a bit embarrassing given all that's gone before on here, but I actually really like Pip, and particularly the newpip actor... she sounds exactly like the naice lacrosse-playing undergrad gels I used to teach in the UK - even the all-over-the-place pitch aspects, and the sounding all cross and wooden when she's exhausted and wants to cry. So there is a context where this particular actor's performance does fit perfectly - the problem is it's not the right context! Grin

I'm having problems with the more-established actors voices. I really cannot warm to new-old Clarrie because she always sounds whiney. The old one used to grumble but you could tell there was a heart of gold underneath. This one only sounds mean and cross.
And Adam ... words fail me. Is he trying to do a Roger Moore impersonation? And I am bored bored bored with the Adam/Charlie thing.
But Pip is awful. She didn't sound traumatised. She sounded like someone acting traumatised, badly.

Davros · 10/03/2015 20:47

toldmywrath do you mean Pip's intonation is up and down like the lodger's nightshirt? (As we say in this house!)

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/03/2015 21:01

they can't have another jilting surely!

Bluestocking · 10/03/2015 21:17

Kiritekanawa makes a very good point. The female undergraduates at the university where I work talk like Pip. She's not as posh as they are but she might have been exposed to girls like that on her degree course and on her farming placement. And that might explain why she's suddenly talking like that. She just needs to add a little bit more vocal fry.

kiritekanawa · 10/03/2015 21:23

(Bluestocking I suspect we may have been at the same institution Grin. Over a 3 year degree course the ones initially with accents from deepest somewhere-rural often ended up very like newPip, with wandering accent, sometimes sounding like their parents, sometimes sounding like a mix of a prep school boy and 45 year old posh RP-speaking woman).

Bluestocking · 10/03/2015 22:05

Oh how interesting Kirite! Do PM me if you want to confirm. Do you recall the girls often having humongous manes of super-unruly hair? And the boys insisting on wearing shorts and flipflops even when it was really, really cold - or at least as cold as it gets in this part of the country?

WaltzingWithHeiferlumps · 10/03/2015 23:02

Haven't been listening much to TA what recently with RL getting in the way a bit, but I must say this whole flood debacle hasn't really done it for me, it's felt quite artificial and contrived. Too much going on - Rob, Charlie and Adam, the Brookfield drama, so many homes flooded etc, it's so bombarding that it's kind of washed over me (pun not intended Grin )
