Will Peggy make it to the end of this thread?

No farms viable, food grown in vats - quorn of the dead.

PetulaGordino · 09/03/2015 23:05

Grin you lot

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/03/2015 23:14

Stress causes Brian to hallucinate the spectre of his former lover - Siobhan of the Dead

TurnOverTheTv · 10/03/2015 00:17

Sorry if it's been done, I can't keep up! Are Tom and Pip going to get it on? She was very fluffy when he turned up.

Bluestocking · 10/03/2015 00:55

Loving all the "... of the dead" ideas, particularly Siobhan of the Dead. And Carol Toboggan. You lot are totes hilair.

Jolene manages to interrupt PC Plot in the shower again - Horn of the Dead.
Haven't listened to today's epper yet, just off now to LA.

Icimoi · 10/03/2015 07:36

I thought it was hilarious when Pip couldn't work out what day it was and when she had done what. After that week long weekend, it's hardly surprising.

stilllearnin · 10/03/2015 07:38

You see, when I was at school I had a fantastic memory. So they'd give me big roles in plays as they knew I'd remember the lines. I absolutely hated it. I felt stupid on stage and I was a terrible terrible actor.

Do you think I could be new new pip? I often think that acting is harder than it looks and critics should lay off unless they can do a better job, but that from Pip last night was terrible terrible, wasn't it? Or am I being harsh?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 10/03/2015 07:39

No, not harsh. She sounded like a slightly distressed lump of wood.

stilllearnin · 10/03/2015 07:40

Although it is good that not just old folk are traumatised. I think you freak out later when something like that happens

stilllearnin · 10/03/2015 07:41

Grin Mimsy - it was bad.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 10/03/2015 07:46

It is harder than it looks but there's no shortage of trained/would-be actors willing to give it a go! I have suffered in my time with temps in boring office admin jobs who are very keen to explain that they're 'really' actors. What that means is that they have an Equity card and once or twice a year take part in a play that a friend wrote and another friend is directing in a tiny pub somewhere out in the sticks. They don't get paid but another friend writes a review for a freesheet or a blog and they hope a casting director will attend. Then they help another set of friends to make a short film and put it on Youtube, also for no money. The other 350 days of the year they do office temping to pay the bills.

The rest of us might call the acting a hobby in those circs, but no, it's a vocation.

If I sound bitter and twisted, that's because I am, after my experience with two of these people in particular. To be perfectly fair, the temp who was really a juggler was lovely and we were sorry to see her go. The temp who was really a writer, ditto.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 10/03/2015 08:36

I would have more sympathy for pip and toms wooden acting if soc hadn't made suh a song and dance of hiring 'trained actors'
Of all the new editions of late I think only johnny is a natural at radio acting

Minimammoth · 10/03/2015 08:44

Just listened on catch up. Freda def. SOTMC. Pip, oh deary deary me. < sings at top of voice LET IT GO, LET IT GO> no seriously though, understandable pent up feelings, but actor not really up to it.

stilllearnin · 10/03/2015 08:53

Tom is ok ish maybe when I'm feeling nice. I prefer his character now, although there's no emotion conveyed at any time. But Pip was practically unlistenable. I imagine she was trying to portray 'holding it together but failing'. Hopefully she's on bed rest for the rest of the week.

mummytime · 10/03/2015 09:01

Tom's main problem is that he sounds so much like Charlie. But that has always been a problem I think I used to get Christine and Jennifer muddled back in my youth.

Exactly!

squeaver · 10/03/2015 10:37

Did anyone else get the impression that we're supposed to have moved on a few days now? Pip couldn't remember when she last checked the calves "was it yesterday"; David referring to "that night" not "Saturday night". Bert saying Jennifer was going to take him to the hospital "again".

And what about Scruff?? And PEGGY, ffs??? (They're not going to spring a surprise SOTMC/will drama now are they? They've just forgotten to mention her.)

TheSilveryPussycat · 10/03/2015 11:06

re Pip and Tom - I thought I could hear the beginnings of a hero-worshipping crush on Tom by Pip - although I am very glad it was Pip that solved the milking parlour. FWIW I didn't think Pip's actor was too bad last night - or perhaps bad acting sounds like on-edge brittleness to me?

enochroot · 10/03/2015 11:17

You'd think everyone but Rob would be falling over themselves to drive Peggy to the solicitor's office!

Scruff is bound to be micro-chipped and will be shipped home from a few miles downstream.

I felt David was pushing his luck last night if he's still uncertain about Ruth's attitude. He was using a trowel to lay on the friends and neighbours pulling together stuff.

squeaver · 10/03/2015 11:47

Ha, yes!

D to R "It makes you realise what's important, doesn't it, Ruth? FAMILY, NEIGHBOURS. THE VILLAGE. Do you get it Ruth? Do you? Hmm???"

D to Jill, moments later "Oh I still can't discuss it with her Mum, it's too early..."

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 10/03/2015 12:07

ppeafruit - it wasn't really his fault - he did get swept away but still...
It was REALLY bad here, luckily I'm on a hill.

@choccyp1g

Killing off Freda won't save much on the actors budget.
ROFL

Loving all the walking dead refs - you lot are hilarious Grin
My contribution:

No maize maze this year: sweetcorn of the dead

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 10/03/2015 12:20

I'm not sure why Pip thinks she's the only adult on the farm? Her mum and dad are RIGHT THERE.

ppeatfruit · 10/03/2015 12:27

You're being kind Olivia Grin If he had LOOKED properly he wouldn't have tried to go in, I wouldn't have.

Ref. the dead thing; I've never watched any of those vampire type series . Did someone say Buffy was good Grin In what way? Grin I do get Anthony though Grin

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 10/03/2015 12:38

You're cheerful today, ppeafruit :)

I haven't watched Buffy either, except when forced by manically obsessed keen friends.

Giles is my "totally would" older man though.
