Rejoice, for the Dopeys are staying in Ambridge to feast on Oedipal flapjacks. Or at least David is. Discuss The Archers here.

Will Peggy make it to the end of this thread?

R4 · 06/03/2015 11:09

I didn't hear last night's episode. Did I miss anything apart from yet more, interminable sploshing?

squeaver · 06/03/2015 11:17

I am lolling at "subplots".

I hate to say it but when Roy was talking to Lizzie, I suddenly envisaged a future together for them. Even the flood didn't seem to stop him sniffing around her like a dog on heat. Unless Hayley decides to come back now, of course.

I think it's VERY odd that no-one's mentioned Peggy. Adam did mention that Ian was working tonight so he's putting the chicken in the sandwiches but no mention of Mike and Vicky either. Maybe they're only updating the "who's where?" graphic when people are actually mentioned on air.

squeaver · 06/03/2015 11:19

R4:

Rob's a hero; Shula's still not said he's an arse.
Roy helped Lizzie into a dressing gown and told her about the divorce. She did not seem to reach for a sick bag.
Scruff's still missing and it's all David's fault for selling Brookfield, according to Linda.
David (and presumably Jesus) wept.

squeaver · 06/03/2015 11:20

Oh, and Joe's ferrets are safe.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/03/2015 11:24

Roy and Lizzie seemed quite comfortable together - even with his back turned why was he even in the room with her while she was showering? Still, at least as soon as there was doubt about Phoebe's safety Roy's attention turned immediately and totally to her.

R4 · 06/03/2015 11:32

"I quite like the multi-episodes for one day, it's creative."

This is what's wrong. You know all those posters whose OH have to keep saying "you know it's not real" ... I don't want creative, I want 'RL'.
I hate Radio drama. If TA is going to turn into a drama then I'll stop listening.

Thanks for the updates though I am confused as to what Roy is doing at LL when LL is miles from the river and on the opposite side to Willow Farm. Was Lizzie not at LL?

squeaver · 06/03/2015 11:52

No Lizzie's gone to GG to be with Shula (I think).

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 06/03/2015 12:01

I'm with you R4

I like to think i'm eavesdropping on real life!

RocknRollNerd · 06/03/2015 12:12

Where are Freddie and Lily? Are they at LL? Perhaps Lily has branched out from communicating in mime to via shadow puppets careful constructed in the light of the flickering candles Grin

enochroot · 06/03/2015 12:24

Lily is perfecting her water ballet.

trevortrevorslattery · 06/03/2015 12:25

Ha Lily's mime would come in handy.. like an episode of Skippy the bush kangaroo.. what's that little fella? I think she's trying to tell us something.. there's an old woman? stuck down at the Lodge?

Minimammoth · 06/03/2015 12:54

Scruff is on the raft with Kate< in own little world - me that is, not Kate and scruff>

Abraid2 · 06/03/2015 12:56

I thought Linda was acting out of character. She is usually more robust.

I also thought that David would insist on going back to the farm. His only daughter, who's only, what 20? is alone coping with flooding. Nothing would stop him from getting back there.

songbird · 06/03/2015 13:29

If this goes on much longer we'll need to work it into the next thread title. Can I nominate we shove in 'Soak Ambridge To The Core' somehow?

PseudoBadger · 06/03/2015 13:29

And Freddie is pleased that there's now a water polo venue nearby Wink

Torygraph article concerning the confusion caused by the Ambridge flood forecasts etc.

minkGrundy · 06/03/2015 13:35

Yy they cannot lose a week. Mother's day would be out (and I predict mothers' day being v significant this year. Peggoi, Ruth, Kate, Hayley etc)

Roy makes me boak. Oh Hayley. Don't leave me. Breakdown. On no, look there's Lizzie. Lizzie. Lizzie. Forgets all about Hayley.
He is a scumbag.

timetosmile · 06/03/2015 13:38

Anyone else, like me, listening to this whole saga from another part of the world?
I agree that its uber-dramatic but it has really sucked me in like a culvert and it feels very odd listening to the podcast late at night with hyenas and strange night birds' calls in the background.
As if my two little spheres of existance have collided in a strange way.

dairyfarmerswife · 06/03/2015 13:39

R4 Roy is at work, at Grey Gables. Lizzie was taken there when her car got stuck in floodwater in the lane. She was soaked, hence Roy: 'let's get you out of these wet clothes' Grin She knows the twins are safe, presumably at LL.

minkGrundy · 06/03/2015 13:41

Kathy and Jamie listed as at GG as is Robert.

However, if you look at St Stephens group. God that would be a miserable party. Hilary, Usha, Carole etc. Mind you they could plan an Ambridge production behind Linda's back.

florentina1 · 06/03/2015 13:46

Trevortrevorslattery, serious under- estamation of Skippy's ability there mate. Would have been,
What's that skippy, an old woman stuck at the lodge, Is it Jill,
Nah not Jill who is then, oh the one with the blue haired rinse and pearls, whose just changed her will again, Roight lets go.

squeaver · 06/03/2015 13:50

mink - I'm sure Carole's got some of her "special herbs" hidden in her girdle. She could make them all a brew.

LillianGish · 06/03/2015 13:57

Thanks for that link Lilymaid. I must say I am someone who finds the latest drama much less irritating than the previous efforts (the unbelievable farm sale and the hastily approved bypass). It has been well signposted with pouring rain for months - I'm still wondering if the sinkhole will re-emerge as a result of this. I do wonder if it wouldn't have been even better without all that nonsense beforehand. Ruth could still have driven up to see her mum in a fit of pique, David could still have been distraught about his beloved farm, I don't think Lynda being furious with David really adds much. I suppose Jolene and Kenton wouldn't have been on the other side of the world, but they could have gone on a more modest holiday (if their being away is crucial to the drama). I think all in all slotting the flood into a more realistic turn of events would have made it more believable rather than it seeming (to some) like another piece of melodrama on top of more melodrama.

enochroot · 06/03/2015 14:00

Will Alan then organise a knees-up to keep them warmwarm?

enochroot · 06/03/2015 14:03

BTW Pseudo's opening post Is looking more and more prophetic.
