Mobiles though it is it not likely that there is no powe? to the mast(s). Parts of where i live used to use phones after heavy rain but that was landlines and it was water in junction boxes I think

it is quite usual for mobile network to be damaged when things go wrong.

A utility company I used to for with dropped the radio-telephones out of all their vans and went over to mobile phones; them realised that in a severe incident, their engineers would be working to restore infrastructure, so re-equipped with PMR.

PC Plot's radio would have been working, and he would at least have been able to pass messages on and get status updates.

Assuming that the burst riverbank is a local problem, you would expect the rest of Borsetshire and neighbouring counties to be coming in to help.

But wasn't PC Plot in mufti? - so only his personal mobile.

I think Helen and Tom would be believed if they are beneficiaries of Peggy's first will and are declaring that she had changed her mind. But would Rob gave changed Helen's way of thinking by then? (I assume Helen and Henry are safe at home.)
