Will Peggy make it to the end of this thread?

The underwater gurgle seemed like a time-effect way to show what was happening rather than have someone telling us.

I quite like the flood.

And I am worried about Scruff.

ApplesinmyPocket · 05/03/2015 09:30

I'm following The Lonely Cow now, great find, thank you Grin I had to stop following the main Archers twitter because I listen the following morning and was getting spoilered.

Thank you so much for the map links. If anyone wants a fold-out pretty paper map, I bought this one Used on Amazon for a mere penny, plus £2.80 postage, it shows the fields and hills and main locations, I refer to it all the time! No photographs. The booklet with it is outdated regarding who lives where but is still quite nice. Archers' Addicts Official Map of Ambridge (1994) (click on Used from £0.01 and choose the best condition you can find, eg Very Good)

enochroot · 05/03/2015 09:39

Yes indeed. Thank you for the maps links.

trevortrevorslattery · 05/03/2015 10:43

The underwater gurgle was ok but then was swiftly followed up with the clunky "don't worry Charlie, I'm just wrapping my coat around you"... so either we can imagine what's happening or we can't!

I felt for Pip too but it does hamper things that she sounds 35 years old.

Poor Bert. I think a pp alluded to this though - I don't want all the old characters to become helpless old duffers Sad

Loving the "mudbloods" comment too Grin.

I think we've had enough water for now, though. I hope today is a new day.

Abraid2 · 05/03/2015 10:48

Yes, Pip sounds the same age as her parents. Though I am warming to her a bit.

WipsGlitter · 05/03/2015 10:51

I'm enjoying it too!!

enochroot · 05/03/2015 11:15

If David hadn't called off the sale last week would Justin still be a keen buyer at 7.5 million?
I think not. Justin would either call it off or reduce the price - so David is off that particular hook and is probably well insured.

Rob might get some praise for his daring rescue but he didn't safeguard the mega-dairy therefore he's a useless manager. Charlie will be angry when he dries out.

Alsoflamingo · 05/03/2015 11:38

Will grudgingly admit Pip far less irritating last night. Actually felt for her...

ppeatfruit · 05/03/2015 11:49

Cor blimey I'm enjoying it too. Grin Good to hear a vulnerable but decisive and active Pip [stronger than Tom?]. I thought Auntie Cardboard was a gonner on tues. night.

So once charlie heroically cleared the culvert the flood waters 'stopped rising' . Pip said which was why Brookfield was safe.

squeaver · 05/03/2015 12:01

I think Rob will get the sack.He had the warning and he did nothing at all about it. Cue Helen: "But you were a hero, how could they?" And Shula "Actually he was an arse". But Rob will be secretly fine because then his mini-mart/plastic cheese dreams will be realised.

The problem with NewPip is that her natural speaking voice has an unfortunate tone of petulance, so even poor old Bert sounded like he was being told off when she was just giving him a blanket.

Good point about David's insurance, enoch. Maybe even enough to also help Kenton pay off his credit cards? I'm convinced Justin Elliot is coming to Ambridge, though, so maybe he's going to buy the Dower House from Lillian?

ErrolTheDragon · 05/03/2015 13:18

I didn't think Pip sounded petulant in that - she sounded like someone of college age having to deal with a flooding milking parlour and a frightened and (hopefully temporarily) rather confused elderly man, and the non-reappearance of her father. For once it would have been odd if her voice hadn't been a bit all over the place!

I don't know where Ed's grazing was, but I bet he's quite glad he got rid of his herd quickly. Hopefully he will now prove invaluable to everyone else (and get paid for it!).

Shouldn't whoever was managing Berrow farm have kept on top of clearing the culverts etc?

Icimoi · 05/03/2015 13:21

Weren't they looking at exchanging contracts on Brookfield around last Friday? If so Ruth will blame David even more for not grabbing the money while they had the chance. Though maybe if JE heard the weather forecast he would have manufactured reasons to delay.

stilllearnin · 05/03/2015 13:23

As long as we don't lose Lillian Shock (why do I let myself think these things?

EBearhug · 05/03/2015 13:32

I can't quite imagine Shula phrasing it as he was "an arse"...

So, Helen going to sell the shop, she's not inheriting the Lodge (though Peggy would have to die first in any case), and Rob's going to get sacked.

Ed 'n' Emma are going to look like the rich ones at this rate.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 05/03/2015 15:12

I think Rob will get the sack.

Oh please oh please oh please....

LillianGish · 05/03/2015 16:44

I'm another one who thinks Knob hasn't done his job. Firstly by not keeping the culvert clear, secondly by ignoring the flood warning, then by not going back to check on Berrow Farm when he saw what was happening. Hopefully his knock on the head will be overshadowed by Charlie's nearly being drowned (though no doubt he'll make an absolute meal of it). I was so hoping last night that Ed and Eddie would go to Charlie's rescue - getting him off the hook for hedge trimming and everything else.

enochroot · 05/03/2015 17:06

Mike, Vicky and Bethany aren't listed as being at the Church or Grey Gables though Roy is there. Is this an oversight?

I think things are going to go pear-shaped for Rob when the water recedes.

Oooh, listening to the news. MI5 are going to use MN to recruit spies!

J62 · 05/03/2015 17:08

Would love to hear Shula say "arse"

J62 · 05/03/2015 17:08

Would love to hear Shula say "arse"

ppeatfruit · 05/03/2015 17:22

enoch I heard that too, MN spies!

enochroot · 05/03/2015 17:23

I see a 'spy' thread has been running since this morning so I'm late picking up on this news.
However, didn't we once speculate that the sink hole was an underground outpost of GCHQ and Rob was a Russian spy?

Minimammoth · 05/03/2015 17:37

I too am hoping Rob gets the push, he will then bring up New Years kiss and Charlie and Adam will make min meat of him. Will he then become a 'grocer' and rescue Ambridge organics?

TopazRocks · 05/03/2015 18:28

Of course Rob didn't do his job properly - but sadly weasels like him will try to blame everyone else for his own shortcomings. I feel the Knob story can't be over yet.

I suspect though we now have an explanation for Soc's non-appearance on Feedback as he's been so busy discussing gurgly and other watery sound-effects with the tech team.

TopazRocks · 05/03/2015 18:33

BTW I am liking it too. It IS a bit ridiculous in parts but it is entertaining listening. I think we have to be on (last!)Sunday night by now. Helen fawning over Rob; Charlie being fawned over by Adam (yuk), and whatever else. Hopefully a swim-on part for Scruff.

And I hope next Sunday they will have a scene on the church step with somebody saying what an awful week it's been, and then we can keep going from there.

I think Roy being on the list for GG was because he was at work there, no? Willow Farm is not near the river, I think. But happy to be corrected.
