Rejoice, for the Dopeys are staying in Ambridge to feast on Oedipal flapjacks. Or at least David is. Discuss The Archers here.

Will Peggy make it to the end of this thread?

I fear the next few episodes have to be a continuation. They've spent far too much time giving us heavy rain sound effects to confine it to two episodes before moving smartly on to the characters standing around with cups of tea muttering "That was a bit hairy, damp round here, isn't it?"

Icimoi · 03/03/2015 13:46

With any luck Knob will feature prominently in the Borsetshire Echo under a "Local Hero" headline, only for some hitherto unrevealed witness to his altercation with the sab to pop up and say "But he was the person I saw hitting that man and trying to take his camera."

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 03/03/2015 13:50

I occasionally look on Twitter at the posts from Lonely Cow. I have only the vaguest memory of who Lonely Cow was - the last one of the Bridge Farm dairy herd, who had a dodgy TB test, and had to be kept back when all the others were sold? Anyway, she sent out a brilliant tweet last night.

Alsoflamingo · 03/03/2015 14:12

That is SUPERB Mimsy Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 03/03/2015 15:11

That's great Mimsy! Grin Do pass on sightings of LC for those of us who think Twitter is what Robert and Jim listen out for.

What happens next? Maybe Rob (as a presumed competent dairy person who doesn't know the village too well) will be sent off to help Pip at Brookfield. That could be fun - Rob being bossed around by an annoying though actually quite competent and knowledgable girl.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 03/03/2015 16:15

I have predicted for months that pc plot will die a heroic death (leaving his worldly goods to fallon) so I will be very smug if he drowns rescuing Jill from the church roof (or similar)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 03/03/2015 16:20

LOVE the Islands in the Stream rendition - keeps making me laugh!

ZeroFunDame · 03/03/2015 16:20

But then we'd have to listen to months of lovelorn Fallon and, worse, Jolene egging her on to sign up to POF.

Fabulous photo Mimsy!

PetulaGordino · 03/03/2015 16:29

the islands in the stream duet made me want to chew my own arm off!

my views on pc burns / fallon relationship have been made on threads passim

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 03/03/2015 16:31

I don't think we want any more deaths (with so many magical disappearances anyway), or any serious injuries as poor old Tone isn't yet home from the hospital.

But what else could they be working towards? Someone being flooded out of their home and having to move in with another family? (but we have Lilian doing exactly that)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 03/03/2015 16:32

Oh sorry I met Zero's:

"And we rely on each other, ah ha
From a robot to my mother, ah ha ..."

ZeroFunDame · 03/03/2015 17:07

  • Jolly good.Grin

I dare say we'll be living with the standard "one in one out" model of drama now - Tony out of hospital someone else in. TV soaps seem to feel they have to do this with births, marriages, deaths and incarcerations for murder ...

ErrolTheDragon · 03/03/2015 18:18

Zero - what does POF mean please?

A lot of the musical references escape me but even I couldn't fail to notice 'Islands in the stream' (and 'Hit the Road, Jack', last week).

Icimoi · 03/03/2015 18:31

I'm not sure they're working up to any major deaths or injuries, or at least I hope not. They could well be moving towards some sort of serious damage to Brookfields or The Bull or something, but I really hope that what this is really aimed at is destroying the road proposals. Then it will in effect be two fingers to Ruth's moaning (mostly) and we can all pretend the whole stupid plotline never happened.

If that's correct, they do seem to be looking at winding up that plotline very precipitately. I thought we'd have weeks of Ruth and David arguing before they dealt with the road menace. Perhaps SOC has been leant on?

ZeroFunDame · 03/03/2015 18:45

I understand it's a dating site Errol.

But I only know that from reading relationship threads here.

(I swear.)

Perhaps Brookfield and The Bull will benefit from insurance pay-outs which will put everything right.

Unless of course Kenton has forgotten to renew the policy

TopazRocks · 03/03/2015 18:50

According to my map of Ambridge, Glebe cottage is less at risk of flooding from the Am than the vicarage and Glebelands. How many homes at Glebelands? I assumed Eddie went down the pit as he is smaller made/lighter than David. I though Pip sounded less whiny, more anxious than usual.
I can't believe any Archers will die - for one, they can't have Jill having any more orphaned grandchildren. Not just yet anyway. Frilly still recovering form the demise of Nigel. SadAnd who is at Nightingale Farm these days? as it - acc to my map - at risk of flooding too. Basically the house is in the middle of a field beside the river.

Ref. 'my map' : 'Archers Addicts Official Map of Ambridge' (1994)

Like others, I did think it was a bit overdone, but I do feel quite intrigued about tonight. Does anyone have a boat in Ambridge? cos I think that is a crucial fact on whether Ruth and Ben can get home. Smile

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 03/03/2015 18:51

I need a MAP?!?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 03/03/2015 18:57

Isn't Helen in nightingale?

nauticant · 03/03/2015 18:58

OMG! I can't believe you've been doing TA without a map Olivia. Get a map, it'll be like when it goes from black and white to colour in The Wizard of Oz.

TopazRocks · 03/03/2015 18:59

I got mine off Amazon a few months ago. An idea from a poster here. It was quite cheap. I'd intended giving it to the son who likes TA whose birthday is early Jan. But forgot about it in the festive season muddle so missed his birthday. It's just a family asset now.Smile Though DH refuses to look at it as he's already got a map of Ambridge in his mind's eye apparently. Grin

TopazRocks · 03/03/2015 19:01

PS I don't mean I missed his whole birthday, just forgot the map. That would really be BAD PARENTING, esp. for a January born child. Grin

Is Helen not at Honeysuckle?

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 03/03/2015 19:03

Where can I find such a thing - WITHOUT seeing pics of characters?!?
Quick, the floodwaters are rising - it's 2 mins to 7?!?!

If so, it's a two minute walk from the Bull. And no river to cross. BAD Rob.
