Rejoice, for the Dopeys are staying in Ambridge to feast on Oedipal flapjacks. Or at least David is. Discuss The Archers here.

Will Peggy make it to the end of this thread?

Eddie said he preferred David holding on... Implying Eddie wouldn't be able to hold onto David...

That was heart thumping drama! This is not what I listen to the archers for... It's supposed to be cosy!!!
Great fun though!! Wink

LillianGish · 02/03/2015 21:03

I actually felt sorry for Pip when she told David not to leave her on her own - I can't believe he's not going back there to check she is ok. And where is Josh? Don't have a problem with the flooding - it's been heavily signposted for weeks now. As for Knob - well his name says it all! Was I imagining it or did I detect that Hellin was starting to lose patience?

nauticant · 02/03/2015 21:09

Such is my state of disbelief at the goings on, I was reading the West Wing stuff above and idly incorporating it into the discussion of the TA. But then I'd go a few posts on and think "hang on, secret service guy?"

TA has a peculiar quality at the moment in zoning me out because it doesn't actually mean anything, it's just a load of arbitrary half-realised events.

As R4 wrote above, that had little to do with TA on the radio. It was something else made for telly but put out as a radio broadcast.

LillianGish · 02/03/2015 21:12

Blimey Mimsy just read that link. Eddie down the manhole is based on a real-life incident.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 02/03/2015 21:21

Mimsys link is really depressing! This isn't what I want them spending their production budget on.

I'm thinking of turning off until June as I can't bear this ridiculous rehashing of an old emmerdale script (that is what they've done isn't it?)

If anyone dies I am going to be extremely unimpressed at the mega drama going on

LillianGish · 02/03/2015 21:25

Is this an old Emmerdale script? I've never watched - perhaps that what Sock is banking on.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 02/03/2015 21:30

Well I haven't either (well not since the ridiculous plane crash) but I imagine this as an emmerdale script

Surprise we haven't had a trail of a special week long 'one night'

minkGrundy · 02/03/2015 21:37

Josh is at sleepover t at a friends.

I think H was just bit surprised at the dissonance between the Rob she imagines and the twat she lives with.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/03/2015 21:59

Yes... she may really believe that Rob would actually want to stay and help the old and infirm of Ambridge rather than escorting her home, because all the men she's known - Tony, Tom, her cousins, Greg too I expect - wouldn't have dreamed of scuttling home, and would have realised that she actually does have the nous to get herself and her son home safely.

middlings · 02/03/2015 22:07

Sorry CuttedUpPear won't happen again.

It's nice to hear a bit of Helen being sensible but David, Harrison and Fallon all lost their minds tonight. Do the actors not take a minute to say, 'waiiiittttt a minute' to the script writers?

ZeroFunDame · 02/03/2015 22:10

Perhaps they don't like the climate in Costa Rica?

middlings · 02/03/2015 22:12

Zero that's the second time you've made me laugh out loud this evening.

Just caught up with the flood drama.

Sounds like Pip's in trouble - heavy hinting re pit electrics & David too busy rescuing his beloved Ambridge to check on his own daughter. If anything happens to Pip then I predict that Ruth will never, ever forgive him.

FuturePerfect · 02/03/2015 22:33

Islands in the Am......

From a robot to my mother, ah ha ..."

enochroot · 03/03/2015 00:27

Rob's a bully and does his thing when there are no witnesses (usually). Bullies are cowards. Rob showed his great big yellow streak tonight as well as utter selfishness in the guise of concern for Helen & Henry.

If he does anything during this wild night it will be to creep off to Peggy's and make sure she doesn't survive to change her will.

GypsyFloss · 03/03/2015 07:57

It would be a good night for Rob to disappear. He could go to Costa Rica anywhere and reinvent himself ,far away from Jess and the baby, the CSA and even Helen who isn't quite the mild mannered heiress he imagined she would be.

minkGrundy · 03/03/2015 08:02

I don't think he picked H for the money. I think Jess was getting difficult/boring so he picked someone he could control.

I think he is just annoyed about the money because he thinks they are entitled to it. Tje same as he thinks he is entitled to a stay at home wife and many other things.

Icimoi · 03/03/2015 08:28

I found myself getting annoyed again at the way Pip couldn't talk to David without sounding as if she was accusing him of something. Telling him that they would have problems if the water got to the electrics was hardly telling him something he didn't know, but she was sounding like the whole thing was all his fault. I suspect that was down to her acting rather than the writing, it would have sounded more sensible in a slightly different tone of voice.

LillianGish · 03/03/2015 08:36

I thought it was quite reasonable for Pip to be in a panic. It also illustrated the way she had gone from hardly speaking to David to springing into action as soon as Ruth had driven off and wanting the reassurance of being with her dad in an emergency. Actually a much more realistic portrayal of the way I imagine Pip would react because contrary to appearances - her new voice makes her sound about 35 - she is still quite young.

ZeroFunDame · 03/03/2015 08:40

That's the thing - with OldPip, even though she was annoying I would have been at least a little concerned for - I suppose it's not the new actor's fault that she simply doesn't sound like David's child.

ApplesinmyPocket · 03/03/2015 09:37

Oh dear I didn't enjoy this episode Sad I don't want massive big fire&flood dramas, that's the reason I stopped watching EE and even beloved Corrie in the end, I want Victoria-Sponge-Rivalry-at-the-Bake-Show Drama. Hopefully it was just a scene-setter for repercussions and tonight's ep will be free of panicky voices and watery gurglings.

Zero "Perhaps they don't like the climate in Costa Rica?" Grin

R4 · 03/03/2015 09:44

tonight's ep will be free of panicky voices and watery gurglings.

I've got a horrible feeling that, having spent months setting it up, he will take days to play it out.
I want today to be today, not two days ago.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/03/2015 10:01

Note to lurking SWs - please note we like things played out with real weather in (nearly) real time with the 'real' characters doing real things.

A big drama may be ok once in a blue moon but this one is far too close on Otto's furious heels.

I'm not sure when there is next some sort of TA anniversary, but can you make sure that it is celebrated by an episode full of the proper characters doing normal village things. Cake should be involved; chilli shouldn't be.
