It's all getting rather delicious. I feel sorry for Kenton the fool

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 27/02/2015 09:52

Yes it cut off the endings for me too (annoyed emoticom). I tried to make it work (you know on the slidey thing). To no avail.

Bluestocking · 27/02/2015 09:58

Piggoi needs to tell everyone about her will because she is a ghastly old haggis who can't stand not being the focus of her family's attention. I think it's quite accurate.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 27/02/2015 09:58

Try the podcast: www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/archers

Help ma boab! That's a lot of posts since I was last on the thread!

Massive BOOP all round for today's episode. I have been in a chronically bad mood for the last few days but I was actually smiling broadly by the end, passers by must have wondered if I was mad. At the end Rob said something arch villainish like "I can't believe that you don't think the same way I do darling!" and Helen stood her ground.

My absolute favourite was Peggy saying "but aren't you supposed to provide for Helen Rob?". And the bit where H said how well Knob was doing at work - he's so going to get fired!

For those who have problems with the iplayer, you can use the podcast instead, it's better. Just google "archers podcast" and it comes up. You don't have to download anything, it just plays right away when you click on the green box.

Loving the Copper Kettle bluestocking. Did you go to Cambridge by any chance?

trevortrevorslattery · 27/02/2015 10:06

ghastly old haggis Grin Grin spot on.

I like the way this thread has gone all Caledonian!

Can you download the podcast to your phone and then listen later? If so I shall give it a try. I busted my data limit last month by streaming On Demand TA and Bridget Christie Minds The Gap on my way to work Blush so to download using my wifi would be a.ma.zing.

ZeroFunDame · 27/02/2015 10:15

Jessie That was exactly the Copper Kettle I was thinking of!

ppeatfruit · 27/02/2015 10:19

Thanks jessie but I'm in forrin parrts and don't get them.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/02/2015 10:26

There's a Copper Kettle near me which is an antique shop, not a teashop, so that is actually the perfect name for Fallon's business. Until/unless she breaks up with Plod, of course.

Alsoflamingo · 27/02/2015 10:27

A fellow BOOPer for last night's episode. Blardy marvellous.

Must say though, was surprised that Knob showed his true colours in such a crude fashion; he is usually a far smoother operator. Hellin's defiance nearly shocked me into dropping a bag of apples (was listening to podcast as I wandered around M&S - irrelevant) .

LOVE Oedipal Flapjacks. Really LOVE.

And thought acting from Rooth fabulous. Will confess to being 'Team Ruth' and was feeling deeply frosty as Deevid had the temerity to try to 'ask her opinion' about things to humour her as we all know that she isn't even consulted for the big life-changing decisions

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 27/02/2015 10:28

IIRC, Jessie is in even more forrin parts than you, ppeat!

TaurielTest · 27/02/2015 10:29

trevortrevor, yes you can - install a podcatcher app (I use the free version of BeyondPod), download episodes via your wifi, then listen whenever you like. It's braw.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/02/2015 10:30

I've never seen Supergran (probably too old). My reference for 'scunners' (and 'Crivens', which I think I should start using IRL) is the Nac Mac Feegles, predictably enough. Grin

Alsoflamingo · 27/02/2015 10:37

You are all talking in a foreign language. I thought I was reasonably au fait with crikey/blimey type vintage chat, but God knows what all this braw, scanners, crivens, jings business is all about

JessieMcJessie · 27/02/2015 10:38

Correct Mimsy - I am in Hong Kong and I have also listened to the podcats in (off the top of my head) - China, Bali, Vietnam, Malaysia, Mexico, France, USA and Japan. You just need t'internet.

It's the iplayer that's restricted outside the UK.

JessieMcJessie · 27/02/2015 10:45

"scunners" flamingo, not scanners Smile. Google "the Broons" or "oor Wullie". It's yon Jazzer that does it to us all, he's a braw laddie.

Ah, fond memories of the annual on Christmas morning.

And yes, having whined about the obscure Cold Comfort Farm references I am well aware of the irony of my wholesale adoption of a different set of "literary" references!

squeaver · 27/02/2015 10:58

Rob is going to get into trouble at work for repeated picking Henry up from nursery misdemeanours. He'll try to blackmail Charlie with exposure of the Adam snog-a-thon. Charlie will fire him anyway. He will take over AO himself and turn it into a non-organic mini-mart. He'll even delist Borsetshire Blue and replace with Cheese Strings. Helen will be so brainwashed by then that she won't be able to do anything, what with being chained to to the Aga and everything.

Travelledtheworld · 27/02/2015 11:03

Jessie

My In Laws give my DH either The Broons or an Oor Wullie annual every Christmas.

Do you like Irn Bru ?

Alsoflamingo · 27/02/2015 11:08

I'm there, Jessie. Fully Googled-up

Delisting Borsetshire Blue and replacing with Cheese Strings. Superb.

ppeatfruit · 27/02/2015 11:08

Bull poo Alsoflamingo I'm team Dayveeed and he was going to the North for Ruuuuth until his heart and his Dad started talking to him. Grin

ppeatfruit · 27/02/2015 11:10

Oh and his mum of course we must never forget Jill of the oedipal flapjack Grin That's brilliant btw I had to borrow it Grin

trevortrevorslattery · 27/02/2015 11:24

Thanks puddock that's braw indeed.

Hm depends how old you are errol (it's from the 80s).

beyond I think I shall join you on Team Rooth as I was also very frosty INDEED towards David today.

Alsoflamingo · 27/02/2015 11:27

But ppeat, I'm not disagreeing that moving 'up North' was a bonkers idea on a gazillion levels….. My issue is that he shouldn't have made a unilateral U-turn styleee decision without even consulting his wife but luckily Mummy was there to really help him decide

enochroot · 27/02/2015 11:30

Try thinking of Peggy as the old granny in the Giles cartoons!

(Or am I the only old 'un?)

Alsoflamingo · 27/02/2015 11:30

Sorely tempted to get a 'Team Ruth' T-shirt made up

squeaver · 27/02/2015 11:36

Do we think Knob is going to inveigle his way along to the AO Summit Meeting tonight?

I really hope Pat reminds Helen about how ho happy and enthusiastic she was when she spent a couple of days there. Just so that Knob can say, "but then the window shutter was a bit sticky - don't you remember darling?" in that alien brain-probes way of his.

My issue on the David/Ruth thing is that they had all these discussions about splitting the land or a bridge etc before they decided to move north. Why couldn't he say to her "look, before it's too late, let's just think these things through one more time". He would probably just have had to find one emotional trigger to keep her there, like when he didn't run off with Sam because he was putting mushrooms in the spag bol.
