It's all getting rather delicious. I feel sorry for Kenton the fool

Lawks a mercy. You can't mean Charlie has designs on Ed. He's not going to catch him unawares trimming the hedge, do you think.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/02/2015 22:27

He's got enough nous to realise that his late change without discussing it with her would be bound to piss her off ... and he's a decent bloke who wouldn't do that under any circumstance anyway.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/02/2015 22:28

well that would be very hollyoaks!

charlie was being a goady fucker with david

ErrolTheDragon · 26/02/2015 22:38

What is it with Charlie? Sometimes I quite like him (though mainly perhaps when he's taking Rob down a peg) but mostly he is indeed so goady.

I bet Ed finds out there's a heck of a lot more hedges than he was bargaining on for him to deal with.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/02/2015 22:40

i doubt charlie has forgotten tat he and ed fell out. he's plotting something and i hope ed reads the contract properly!

PigletJohn · 26/02/2015 22:57

the scheme seems to be that Ed will work for 12 months for no pay, and the estate gets the field back.

Dummy.

TopazRocks · 26/02/2015 22:57

Help ma boab, I go off to do something else with my life and you lot fill up nearly 2 more pages. I do hope there's no more misfortune for Ed. And I can't get used to how young Charlie sounds. But he did sound a tad too friendly for my liking.

I hope too Rob does not just turn up tomorrow at the family meeting. He IS family now, after all. HmmBut shurely (that's ma loose wallies making me slur ma words!) he has actual work to do. Hearing Pat and Tom putting him in his place will compensate though.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 26/02/2015 23:02

Ed knows the work and has considered its better to do that then have to pay the rent. That part is fine. I just wonder what the contract will state as it all seems too easy!

Could he sub let the land?

ZeroFunDame · 26/02/2015 23:14

Wait.

Ed sold his herd because the estate gave him notice for non-payment of rent for the land he kept the cows on?

He now finds that actually he is tied into paying rent on that same piece of land ^for another two years?

So he could have continued with his dairy herd on that land with two years to find a different field or make a new plan?

But - I repeat - he sold the herd. Immediately.

Can Ed actually read?

R4 · 26/02/2015 23:26

I thought Ed got advice from the Tenant Farmers Association?

ZeroFunDame · 26/02/2015 23:28

I'm praying that I am the one who's misunderstood the situation rather than Ed.

Because otherwise his action looks a mite precipitate.

R4 · 26/02/2015 23:33

It was a mistake to tell Charlie that he had some money and was going into beef and contracting. He should have said that he was stony broke so they would have no incentive to waste legal fees on chasing him for the debt.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/02/2015 23:39

No, it wasn't just that - it was also the uncertainty over Mike's milk business. Ed sold 4 cows to clear his immediate debt, but he wasn't turning a profit so if he'd tried to carry on he'd have had to gradually sell off the others. This way he's got a decent bit of cash to invest in beef and some sort of tractor.

Bluestocking · 26/02/2015 23:54

If poor old Fallon ever does get her retro tea room, she must call it The Copper Kettle as a delicate compliment to PC Plot.

I loved Tom's powning of Rob. I agree with the PP who said Rob is losing it a bit - saying "so WE aren't getting the Lodge?" was a bit blatant and he is normally pretty subtle. I dislike Piggoi very much so I suspect that her motive for changing her will is more to do with keeping everyone running round after her than any genuine change of heart.

Deeevid really is such a dimbo, sitting at the table chomping and blathering on to Ruth about a smaller herd and milking by drone. I think FF is doing a bang-up job of getting the absolute frostiness across - she clearly is hoping he will choke on one of Jill's Special Oedipal Flapjacks.

ZeroFunDame · 27/02/2015 00:09

Oh Bluestocking ... I have put up with marauding robots, suddenly extinct tigers and glamorous grannies weeping in Aldi. But I am afraid The Copper Kettle would just about finish me off.

But those Oedipal Flapjacks sound well rude. I imagine Fallon will be keeping them under the counter - for special customers only?

enochroot · 27/02/2015 01:22

Is there any way we can weave Oedipal Flapjacks into the next thread title?

ZeroFunDame · 27/02/2015 01:32

I have a vision of Plod feeding said foodstuff to Jolene. Just before he seeks out a copy of his birth certificate and discovers that she's his actual biological ...

Bluestocking · 27/02/2015 08:44

Jill's Oedipal Flapjacks.
Rob's Steak Diane Cooked by Gaslight.
Charlie's Canapes a la Closet.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 27/02/2015 09:13

Ed sold the cows to pay the rent (and other costs) so they wouldn't evict him

He then shortly after decide to sell the whole herd

choccyp1g · 27/02/2015 09:20

He would have done better to be evicted and pay the rent that was owing, rather than being stuck with two years rent, (or two years hedging. the TFA weren't much help were they?

minkGrundy · 27/02/2015 09:28

As Ed is still tenant he should make some money out of that field. First I thought rent it out to horses. But now I am thinking great big field of maryjane and Jill can put it in the oedipal flapjacks and he can supply Carol for her special tea.

Seriously though, I do hope he realises it is still his field for next 2 years.

And I detest Charlie. I thought the way David dismissed him with a weary g'bye Charlie was perfect. I don't know why anyone gives him the time of day

ppeatfruit · 27/02/2015 09:37

Yaay one in the eye for Rob (Tom really hates him, good Grin)
and Hell's finally grown a pair.

Usha's name mentioned twice in one ep.we might even hear her tonight.

trevortrevorslattery · 27/02/2015 09:41

Phew that's a relief enoch. And topaz I am loving your work with the Jings. I may try and introduce it into my everyday speech.

Grin at “the wee scunner” too. Does anyone remember the TV show Supergran? The main villain was The Scunner Campbell .

WRT retro-swearing, I actually say jeepers and crikey quite a lot in real life. Mainly because I am very very sweary by nature and it saves me from disgracing myself in front of colleagues and friends’ children. And I get the benefit of sounding like the fat owl of the remove in the process.

Ugh the iplayer on demand function has cut off the endings of the last two episodes grr. So I didn’t get to hear the closing exchanges between Rob and Hellin. It sounded like she was standing up to him about Piggoi though. I didn’t hear her final comment though- please could someone enlighten me?

bluestocking haha to the Copper Kettle! Brilliant! I also think FF is doing a brilliant job.
I hate the way Deevid has been speaking to Ruth recently. IMO he is being a colossal bellend and I don’t know how she is keeping from bashing him!. He’s like an awful middle-manager who’s trying to performance-manage / remotivate one of his employees after having ripped away a guaranteed promotion from them.

On last night’s episode I was so confused about why Tom was being such an arsehole to Ed. Until David came along and said “hello Charlie”!

I like the way the actual Tom (not to be confused with Charlie) has the measure of Rob and hope that this will be a lifeline for Hellin when she needs to get away.

Actually why does Piggoi need to tell everyone about the change of will? My family’s not one where a will would contain anything of value, but surely she could just change the will and leave them to find out afterwards. In fact she could have just written a will without telling everyone in the first place and avoided all the upset!
is it usual to tell everyone what they stand to inherit?

florentina1 · 27/02/2015 09:47

If Fallon's combines her up-cycling business with her tea shoppe, and if she reads this thread I bet she will call it:

THE UP-CUTTED PEAR

BitOutOfPractice · 27/02/2015 09:50

Ooo Jim is in a rather lack lustre comedy called The Cavity Within about dentists on 4extra now!
