As tribute to the best SL at the moment...

Blimmin' eck - Jim and Robert could have a series all to themselves!

Grin
BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/02/2015 19:16

I wouldn't listen. Sound like their scenes were written by the person who thought the kitchen saga was funny

ErrolTheDragon · 05/02/2015 19:17

Rob and Jim bird-watching is brilliant birdwatching - oooh, a water rail!

yeah · 05/02/2015 19:21

Like making a condemned man tie his own noose Grin

Love Brian.

But agree with PP - please don't turn Lil into an alcoholic storyline.

LillianGish · 05/02/2015 20:01

Great to hear Robert and Jim. Loved their birdwatching - just like the Archers of old with nothing much happening, but life going on. More torrential rain though - drama brewing in the background!

CuttedUpPear · 05/02/2015 20:26

The birdwatching scene was a most welcome return to the halycon days of TA where whole episodes could be spent rearranging the biscuits in the shop.
I did enjoy that. And the denouement.
And Brine and Lil. Classic.

Here, have my first ever BOOP.

TopazRocks · 05/02/2015 21:25

Ah, swinging, that's a theme we've not had in TA. Yet.Grin I was clanking in the kitchen during part of it tonight, so just came on here to see what happened. I did like hearing Robert and Jim back. Maybe R's actor's been away saving the NHS? Single-handedly.

and Brine's annoyance was good. BTW how old is Lillian meant to be? For new starts and all. I don't want her been sozzled over this either.

ZeroFunDame · 05/02/2015 21:31

Born 8th July 1947.

(Archers blog.)

EBearhug · 05/02/2015 21:31

She's 67.

TopazRocks · 05/02/2015 21:39

Right, she sounds older than that. Maybe she needs a naice cuddle with Mungo to cheer her up. It's weird how they've just disappeared again back to wherever.? London town.

stilllearnin · 05/02/2015 21:56

"riddled with women"Grin

I dont think Jenny darling will let Lil go to ruin. She is pretty forthright with her. I also think JD will get her back home perhaps with the help of Lindy and the children. (living with James and leonie may send you to seek solace in the bottle)

DownyEmerald · 05/02/2015 22:11

Delurking.

It was so lovely to hear Hayley at lunchtime today. Her voice so warm and wise, and portraying the easy relationship with her child.

nauticant · 06/02/2015 09:54

The bird watching scene was super, as others said a lovely bit of old-school Archers. I'm invested in the characters and so welcome parts where they are just being rather than being the instigators or the victims of some hideous drama.

florentina1 · 06/02/2015 10:13

Can't wait for a kitchen showdown between Brine, Kate and pusscat . Jennifer better hide the knives methinks.

enochroot · 06/02/2015 10:29

Is anyone going to tell Peggy any time soon that Matt's left, that her daughter is no longer secure and that the 'logic' she used to explain her will is now redundant?

JessieMcJessie · 06/02/2015 10:32

I actually wish I hadn't read the comments on here before listening today as I denied myself the incremental pleasure of this thought process:

Good, Jim's in it. Wonder who he's talking to?
Fab it's Robert! Great to hear him after such a long time
Oh marvellous, now we've got Brian. And it's a pub scene, I do love a pub scene.

If only Jazzer had joined them, that would have been the cherry on top.

I liked that Robert reminded us of Lynda's previous under wing-taking of Kate.

Funny how we all love Jim since he's actually a bit of a blow-in, only been around for 6 years or so I think? He needs more friction with Shula though. If she and Alastair really are heading for the big D I do hope we get to hear what Jim thinks of it. Do we know his opinion on Dan joining the army?

ErrolTheDragon · 06/02/2015 10:41

Jim's an example of how we don't hate all new characters - if they arrive for a good reason (which he did) and then develop via character rather than mere plot. He got better after a slightly shaky start - at first he was too much the token stereotype 'militant atheist' apparently just there to wind up Shula.

Yes, would have been good if Jazzer had been in the pub too - is he still living with Jim?

Surely the discovery of Brookfield Dairy is the prelude to the revelation that Justin Elliot's Dad was actually the milkman..

LillianGish · 06/02/2015 14:32

Dan Archer was the milkman.

nauticant · 06/02/2015 14:51

doof doof doof doof d-d-doof

Minimammoth · 06/02/2015 17:51

Oh no seem to have lost my post

ZeroFunDame · 06/02/2015 17:58

What is the grammatical term for the logical connection between Marion's and Lillian's posts?

LillianGish · 06/02/2015 18:31

How old is Justin Elliot? To be the son of Dan Archer when he had the milk round (which was presumably pre Phil and Jack otherwise it's existence would be more widely known by immediate family - because they would have said on at least one occasion something about remembering when dad had the milk round) he would have to be at least 80 wouldn't he? Actually Zero I wasn't really thinking about the significance of my post when I typed it - I just meant the milkman is not a mystery, he's been identified as Dan Archer (who I don't think for a minute could be JE's dad). But now your post has got me thinking. Surely it's not going to be a Last Tango in Halifax type one-off dalliance resulting in a loaded mystery son?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 06/02/2015 18:35

Maybe it will turn out that dan archer was the stereotypical randy milkman and he had to give the milk round up because of too many irate husbands. About 30 illegitimate kids will turn up staking a claim on Brookfield.
