This glossary is not exhaustive but is provided to clarify the use of abbreviations, nicknames, and slang.
The Basics
TA = The Archers
SL = storylines
SW = scriptwriters
SOC = Sean O'Connor, current Editor of TA (since about Nov 13)
VW = Vanessa Whitburn, former Editor of TA for 20+ years previous to SOC
The Film = the omnibus on Sunday mornings
The People
Dopeys = David (Deeavid) and Ruth (Roof) (ohh-ah-noooo)
Heatherpet (Ruth's mother, is expected shortly to SOTMC)
Peep = Dopeys' daughter (recently replaced by an unconvincing replicant)
Lizard = Elizabeth (Lizzie)
Frilly = Freddie and Lily (Elizabeth's children)
Moany = Tony
HellRob = Helen (The Thin Controller) and Rob (Knob/Control Knob)
The sausage king = Tom (another unconvincing replicant)
Piggoi = Peggy
JD = Jenny Darling, a.k.a. Jenny Aldridge
Brine = Brian Aldridge
Pusscat and Tiger = Lilian and Matt (RIP) (their own pet names for each other)
Fagash = Lillian
Radio Carter = Susan
Moike and Vickoi = Mike and Vicky
Rotaboy = Roy
PC Plot = PC Harrison Burns
HHMNBN = He who must not be named, aka (whispers) Darrell
When the SWs get bored of a character or need to use one up to create an unconvincing SL they send them to Costa Rica, or perhaps to St Petersburg
Special Terms
SATTC = shake Ambridge to the core (Nigel's death was supposed to do that, according to the BBC PR department)
SOTMC = shuffle off this mortal coil
BOOP point = a good thing about an episode, to please BitOutOfPractice, who thought we were all getting too negative
WAL point = Whiny Ardent Listeners - another poster labelled us that for being unduly critical
overinfested = overinvested
spreadshit (the use of "spreadsheet" is frowned upon)
damp squid (the use of "squib" is also frowned upon)
