This is too much for me now. I need to meditate.

Re Knob/Hellin/Jess: If you are married, isn't there a presumption that any child born is the child of the husband? So it is up to Rob to prove he isn't the Daddy! Looks as though he'll have to falsify a few documents including bank statements for the next 18 years to keep Hellin sweet.

TheMShip · 16/01/2015 21:18

Oh wow, my first thread title suggestion actually made it! Blush

Matt was pretty sinister and manipulative during the Paul saga, but he and Lillian are just such great characters together I had to forgive him. What on earth could he be up to now? Got to hope Lillian's been sensible enough to have kept some money in her name only, but she's sometimes a bit blind where Matt's concerned.

Thought Fallon and Plot rather sweet but utterly daft writing to force them to avoid saying nutella!

stilllearnin · 16/01/2015 21:26

Absolutely refusing to discuss tiger and pusscat unnecessary nonsense

But thanking you kindly for the invite

PhaedraIsMyName · 16/01/2015 21:37

I felt actively scared listening to Rob and Helen. He's going to start hitting her isn't he? Me too. Yes

And I can't believe Pat buys into Jess as a 'nut job' tale She didn't. She was struggling for a way to express incredulity without actually telling Helen she's deluded. BOOP point to Pat.

I would say "chocolate spread". Whilst chocolate spread on toast would be disgusting Nutella is vile. If I wanted chocolate spread it wouldn't have nuts in it.

Fallon and PC Plot are going to be an oasis of calm and tranquillity whilst all around them implodes. Just wait until the Brookfield sale falls through to add to what's going on.

TopazRocks · 16/01/2015 21:40

Phew! Found you all. Lovely thread title. Thanks, Pseudo - and theMShip for suggesting it. I was in a rush earlier - was being beckoned for some eating-related activity - and saw the linkie and didn't realise it was a new thread. Just thought 'I'll read it later'. Blush

I always think Lillian sounds like she's got a bottomless pit of money, as she married well years ago, but I suppose even a bottomless pit has a bottom eventually. Hmm I actually missed the bit tonight when she was talking to PC Plot so I don't know how much she knows she's lost. I'll try to catch the film on Sunday. Like I said before, I am intrigued to see what happens with them. But I AM Sad too.

TopazRocks · 16/01/2015 21:43

Yes, Phaedra, I suppose Pat was trying hard to be tactful. The joys of disliking your child's partner and trying not to say so in so many words. Shock

PhaedraIsMyName · 16/01/2015 21:50

Pat and Tony have been brilliant really since RichJohn arrived. There was a tremendous episode a while back when Pat was having a rant about Helen rejecting all Pat's feminist views by becoming Knob's little wifie.

And Tony made it very clear he was anti-hunting.

Maybe with all this going on the Brookfield sale won't fall through? It's almost too much to handle (and it's not as if anyone would miss David, Ruth, Pip and the other sibling whose name I can't remember)

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 16/01/2015 21:51

Josh and Ben.

PseudoBadger · 16/01/2015 21:52

There's two other siblings Shock
Get thee to the back of the class

PhaedraIsMyName · 16/01/2015 22:00

Well , just shows how little I'd miss them !

ZeroFunDame · 16/01/2015 22:01

Oh! Another BOOP - tonight was the very first time Plod sounded like an adult human being and not just a joke. His conversation with Lillian was much more natural than any scene he's been in before

His acting was so wooden when he first appeared at Jill's cottage and the Fallon interludes don't show him at his best. But maybe, just maybe the actor is beginning to get an idea of how to be in TA.

LillianGish · 16/01/2015 22:04

Marks place. Too distraught by Matt's possible disappearance to make any further comment.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 16/01/2015 22:15

here's my BOOP point - I've started listening again thanks to you lot!!!

I really enjoyed it tonight (although tbf there were no new characters. I also listened on Wed & did find NewPip a bit strange but Kate was as appealingly infuriating as ever! Looking forward to a nice Phoebe/Roy/Hayley reconciliation)

Loved the scenes with Helen/Pat & Helen/Rob & it was great to hear Lilian again after so long though I wish the circs were different

PC Plot sounded to me exactly the same as he always has (but now he's not 'potential loony stalker' he's less threatening? Grin )

dairyfarmerswife · 16/01/2015 22:19

Popping in to say I haven't listened yet but I love chocolate spread on toast. Specially Sainsbos chocolate orange one...

and placemarking

Icimoi · 16/01/2015 22:52

I can just see Knob persuading Hellin that it would be sucks to Jess if he pretends to go along with the blood test but actually swaps someone else's blood, and Hellin accepting it blindly to avoid facing the truth about Knob. Only I assume the Child Maintenance people are wise to that and have appropriate safeguards in place. Plus it would be a tad difficult to find someone prepared to pretend to impersonate Knob for the purpose.

simbacatlivesgain · 16/01/2015 22:58

For a paternity test that is legally accepted you have to go to an approved centre and have it done. the child also goes to a centre. You cant just do the standard on line thing- so he cant swap anything.

Shallishanti · 16/01/2015 23:04

mmm, but do the sws know that?

choccyp1g · 16/01/2015 23:33

Did I hear Pat say Jess must be unhinged. She's been on MN reading AIBU.

Bluestocking · 17/01/2015 00:01

I do hope Tiger reappears, he's one of my favourite characters. Bit odd that no-one noticed him leaving Ambridge in a pantechnicon full of fine wines.

enochroot · 17/01/2015 02:33

The big question is where's Anthea. If she's left because she didn't like what was going on and saw the writing on the wall then that chimes with the Anthea she seemed to be to me - a very upright, twin-set & tweed wearer who seemed to have little liking for Lillian but wouldn't actually do anything dishonest or underhand.

If she's left town with Matt then that's a whole different matter and it would take a very good piece of scriptwriting to make it plausible.

I prefer to think the actor playing Matt has a nice little number going elsewhere or is ill and that Tiger will return in due course and make it right with Pusscat. In the meantime we hear much more of Lillian at her very best - fighting for her man.

(I don't mean I hope the actor is ill but an illness could explain him being written out for a while until he recovers.)

My BOOP point is Helen getting a little more backbone and Pat taking the reins again.

enochroot · 17/01/2015 02:36

Does anyone know what proportion of his income Rob will have to pay?
Also, if he is living in the cottage as a perk will that be taken into account?

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 17/01/2015 06:41

What's a BOOP point?

Now that Tony is making a recovery, Pat isn't as focussed on him and is giving some attention to Hellin. She won't be able to stop herself from pointing out the bleeding obvious if knob continues to refuse a test. His reasons for refusal are just sounding weaker and weaker.

Eastpoint · 17/01/2015 07:06

Rob's excuses (can't use the word 'reason' as he is not using any logic etc) are so ridiculous, anyone who could not be the father would be jumping at the chance to have a DNA test. Helen open your eyes!

KatieKaye · 17/01/2015 07:16

AAAARRRGGGG.

They cannot get rid of Tiger.
I absolutely refuse to allow it.
He's always entertaining and a welcome antidote to "normal for Ambridge".

Chuck RichJohn back to his mum and Eamon (obviously neglectful, as it only took the Archers about 6 weeks to spot his dyslexia whereas they'd missed it for flipping years - amazing or what?), let Justin Elliott come to his just desserts (creepy pantomime villain) and forget about the chap Adam is flirting with. All this "new blood" is at the expense of established and popular characters, or by rewriting/recasting established ones. Tom, Tony and Pip have voice and personality transplants, Hayley, Mike and Vicki are despatched to Brum, Dan to the Army, Kirsty to wherever and Spencer is ditched off air.

After minimal agricultural content for years we now have overload on various types of robotic milking. God, it's boring and could be dealt with in a quick summary "went to X where they do Y - gave us a lot to think about."

On the plus side. welcome return of Kate and don't mind Carol. Psycho Rob is waring up nicely again after almost lulling me into a false sense of security. The conversation with Pat and Helen was so badly scripted though - you could hear poor Pat Gallimore trying her very best with the pregnant pauses, but it was dire.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 17/01/2015 07:30

I don't think Honeysuckle Cottage is a Berrow Farm perk. I think I recall Usha showing Rob round before he decided to rent it.
