This is too much for me now. I need to meditate.

Exactly Elephants! Rob is SO scary but "appears" not to be doing anything you could object to. It's all in the little things like when Pat left saying, to Helen, "Do think about what I said" (or similar) about the shop and instead of Helen answering, Rob answers for her saying, "We'll give it some serious thought." And you know that Helen won't be permitted to decide what to do.

I'm enjoying the acting and writing so much that I want this storyline to progress as slowly as possible as once it comes to a head and Helen either comes to her senses or her family and friends "rescue" her, surely Rob as a character would be written out?

Unless Helen escapes his clutches but is too ashamed to say what happened and Rob circles the village like a shark looking for his next victim?

OddFodd · 02/02/2015 16:24

It is the best piece of emotional abuse drama I've ever seen/heard I have to say. And it stands out even more when compared to the rest of the shoddy plotlines.

I wonder if we could get pigs flying into the thread title somehow? Would be nice to incorporate bees too. No pressure Pseudo ... Wink

ppeatfruit · 02/02/2015 17:03

Yes OddFodd And whoever writes it knows about EA. Also how 'normal' people like Pat behave around it; IMO she is now fully aware of Knob's unpleasantness and must feel awful for Hell because she understands her totally.

50 Shades of Grey opens on Valentine's Day - perfect night out for Rob and Helen.

nauticant · 02/02/2015 17:51

Rob was chosen very well for his voice. Even at rest it has a menace in it that puts me in mind of James Mason.

ZeroFunDame · 02/02/2015 18:11

The sooner Rob disappears from Ambridge the better. I was scared last night.

Pseudo I like your suggestion. With such an over abundance of competing SLs we're never going to fit everything in to one title. Could she dump him in the equine pool?

RocknRollNerd · 02/02/2015 18:14

50 Shades of Grey opens on Valentine's Day - perfect night out for Rob and Helen.

That actually made me shudder Shock.

Also - really? they've made a film of 50SoG and it's opening on Valentine's Day. I shall now go an loosen my bra-straps purely so I can hoick my bosom!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 02/02/2015 18:30

Agree with everyone else about the Helen/Rob storyline. All the writers deserve credit for it - the way TA is written is, as I understand it, that each writer does a whole week's episodes at a time - occasionally two consecutive weeks. So they all have to carry on all the storylines.

dairyfarmerswife · 02/02/2015 18:51

Haven't had chance to comment since last night. Won't David need planning permission for his new shed to house the robots?

And Shula and the racehorses.... I can only assume she meant point to pointers - you have to go on all sorts of courses to get a full trainers licence. And she talked of buying land for gallops... Is the payout from Brookfield going to be that big?

nauticant · 02/02/2015 19:10

Let's kick Ed in the teeth again! Yay! (Not.)

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 02/02/2015 19:15

Good point re planning permission

And yay Jennifer (for the whole episode). Love Kate suddenly trying to act motherly strict!

Nice to hear mike but probably not for much longer. And poor ed losing out to the silly mike/vicky culling.

Poor Roy! I can't imagine how hard it must be to be estranged from your child. But love the counterpoint to Kate where he is most interested in hearing about phoebe whereas Kate just wants to tell her stuff. Maybe this is the start of a rapprochement. Especially with Kate saying what she did.

Gosh, that was toecurling stuff from Kate. Big BOOP point to Jennifer! Smile

'You know I'm your mother and I love you, but really, Kate, sometimes I wonder if you can hear the words coming out of your mouth...'

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/02/2015 19:19

So... now we know why the Brookfield milk bottle has suddenly surfaced. After the sale falls through and the Dopeys have to reassess hopefully Ed will be joining forces with Brookfield Dairy (fingers crossed).

And oh, how my hand itches to slap Kate!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 02/02/2015 19:19

I thought ed was going to crash the car then

More stormy weather.

I'm not 100% sure but I think Ed owns the cows and is responsible for their welfare. He sells the milk to Mike who pasteurises it, bottles it and delivers it locally. It's not organic but it's Guernsey milk (is that right?) which is very creamy and distinctive. In more affluent times there were enough people in the Ambridge area who would pay a premium for that to make it just about viable as a business (or rather, two businesses), but these days there really aren't.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 02/02/2015 19:58

An amoeba would be 100 times the parent to Phoebe that Kate is! She is a nightmare, isn't she?

mummytime · 02/02/2015 19:59

Jenny was fabulous!

The Ed/Mike business has three parts: the cows (Eds), the processing/bottling and the milk round. It seems that people are interested in the rounds - maybe just buying the customer lists. But not so much in the processing and delivery local milk.

Although SW if you are listening, if I was buying milk from Ed and Mike, I might cancel my order if the round was sold to Dairy Crest etc.

R4 · 02/02/2015 20:00

You know I'm your mother and I love you, but really, Kate, sometimes I wonder if you can hear the words coming out of your mouth...

I thought thread title: We love you but really, TA, sometimes wonder if you can hear the words coming out of the radio.

I too thought that Ed was going to crash the van but decided that they couldn't repeat that storyline. It's still not raining in RL Borsetshire btw, it's very dry and very cold. Poor SW always get the weather wrong.Grin

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 02/02/2015 20:03

they keep getting the weather wrong because it is essential to the SL to have a lot of rain I guess. bit crap to be so reliant on something like that though

ZeroFunDame · 02/02/2015 20:35

Snap R4! Was going to suggest a similar upcycling of Jenny's phrase:

You know we're your listeners and we love you, but really SO'C, sometimes we wonder if you can hear the words coming out of our mouths. Or threads ... Will there be any feedback on our feedback?

Needs work.

PseudoBadger · 02/02/2015 20:54

I like that idea R4 but worry that threadees might complain that it's too negative? We may need to create another BOOP type thing.
