This is too much for me now. I need to meditate.

De lurking to suggest that Mat could have known that they were going bankrupt and were going to lose everything. He's perhaps made it seem like he's run off in order to protect Lilian and their assets and will get in touch once he's stashed it all off shore somewhere

LillianGish · 17/01/2015 09:04

I thought Anthea was on holiday. Otherwise Matt would never have got away with it - and wouldn't have dared. Though rather strange and convenient that she and Lillian were away at the same time - surely someone would have been holding the fort?
Re agricultural content, I don't think there has been enough. No discussion of falling milk prices or of whether the Dopey's can take their milk quota with them. For me, agricultural content is at the heart of The Archers and it is amazing how much drama comes from that alone without resort to inventing unlikely scenarios to spice up the plot.

Pipbin · 17/01/2015 09:10

I've not been listening for a week or so due to life being a cunt and when I come back I've got no idea what's going on.

PetulaGordino · 17/01/2015 09:21

Blossom Hill cottage I think? Honeysuckle is Adam and Ian I thought

Thanks for the new thread

Rob saying "I can't believe they would take the word of a deranged woman over mine" = "i can't believe they would take the word of a WOMAN over mine"

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan - BOOP points came about because a poster whose name can be abbreviated as such felt we can be too negative. So we are trying to find positive BOOP points in each episode.
We can apparently also be Whiny Ardent Listeners, so feel free to find some inconsistencies, discrepancies or just plain old rubbish and use the abbreviation WAL.

Hi all, lovely new thread moving at full speed!
My head is spinning with so much going on, am trying hard to recall slow paced plots, such as Joe and Bartelby etc, episodes where not much happened, and if and when they do, we might now feel they are boring, as the SoC has Eastendered every episode to end on a dramatic cliffhanger.
The milk price debate is EVERYWHERE so surely Ed and Mike are long overdue an appearance to comment (and be the victims) of this.
I've never lived anywhere where people disappear so frequently, feel I am missing out. Lil was at her best with PCPlot, fresh from between the sheets with Fallon , I confess that I do love his voiceBlush

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 17/01/2015 09:50

Blossom Hill Cottage, of course! Thanks, Petula.

Icimoi · 17/01/2015 10:46

Lil said Anthea was off for a week, though that's pretty odd when Lil also was away. I suppose one of those investments could have gone tits up - wasn't there some suggestion ages ago that they could have been overreaching themselves on something? Though it seems a little unlikely given that property prices are recovering.

If they're reviving the Russian gangster nonsense I really will have to stop listening.

ZeroFunDame · 17/01/2015 11:00

Lil was at her best with PCPlot, fresh from between the sheets with Fallon ...

  • My, how I mis-read that.
enochroot · 17/01/2015 12:06

I admire the verb 'To Eastender' when applied to a plot, guineapiglet

And DeiselSpillage's theory is comforting -

Mat could have known that they were going bankrupt and were going to lose everything. He's perhaps made it seem like he's run off in order to protect Lilian and their assets and will get in touch once he's stashed it all off shore somewhere

guineapiglet · 17/01/2015 12:17

Memo to self:
Do not post threads on mumsnet without first imbibing copious amounts of caffeine....

However the verb to Eastender something should be added to Urban Dictionary!

stilllearnin · 17/01/2015 12:32

My self imposed ban has not lasted. Instead of re-run of Amex story, could the Tiger be fleeing from the repercussions of the Russian (bad) business?

Knob is making me chuckle! Henry could see through his reasons for not taking the test!

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 17/01/2015 14:55

eurgh, missed last night's, so will have to omnibus tomorrow - not looking forward to HellRob.

Thank you Pseudo, I was trying to work out what it could stand for! (Took me about 12 months of reading AIBU to realise that "LTB" didn't mean "Learn to breathe" Blush)

There was an article in today's Guardian about the drop in milk prices and the impact on dairy farmers. I'm sure TA used to have lots more of that sort of detail/debate.

LillianGish · 17/01/2015 17:23

Sock appears to have sacked the agricultural story editor along with all the regulars we no longer hear from.

minkGrundy · 17/01/2015 17:35

Rob Hellin Jess and the cottage. As I recall, J turned up, met folks in Ambridge, decided she wanted to live there. Rob tried to no avail to persuade her to live elsewhere. So presumably she picked the cottage?
There was the whole cringey business with her hiring Organics to cater the party.
Before that there was R's menacing outburst to H in the shop.

Anthea is supposed to be on holiday.

And I think Matt has run up debts on some scheme and is lying low.

minkGrundy · 17/01/2015 17:39

I also think once R is shown to be the father he will go for custody.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/01/2015 17:53

Even if things were exactly as Rob pretends says they are, calling the baby 'that wretched child' in that tone of voice shows his nastiness. I mean if the poor thing actually did have a deranged mother, a shred of compassion would be in order.

TeenyfTroon · 17/01/2015 18:04

I used to get my milk delivered by a local dairy, but after several 'foreign bodies' in the milk I cancelled. Now there is a choice of 3 supermarkets - Lidl, Co-op and Waitrose. Is there one of these which is fairer to the supplier that the others, can anyone tell me?

And I'm still sulking about Matt. Just in case Sock is listening. And a lot of other things.

Whilst it would be nice to get matt back having flitted for virtuous reasons that wouldn't be in his character!! I hope pusscat will track him down and they will resolve everything and come back so he can be there to make droll comments at opportune moments.

I don't like pc plot and even less so since finding out he ha a criminal conviction for assault!! Sometimes best not to find out too much about the actors!!! The fallon plot relationship is so cringeworthy!!

R4 · 17/01/2015 18:30

General article, not just milk, on supermarkets here.

KatieKaye · 17/01/2015 19:12

mink- Rob was already living in the cottage when Jess arrived. He rented it from Usha off his own bat. he was in Ambridge for quite a while before Jess finally turned up.

The party was her way of trying to get to know people. WHen Rob first arrived he went around introducing himself but seemed to know a worrying amount about the folk of Ambridge already, so it was as if he was putting faces to names he already knew a good deal about. it was very, very strange. Jess didn't turn up for ages and people were wondering if a) she existed or b) was a man.
