This is too much for me now. I need to meditate.

OP posts:

Yes I'd never really processed that! I guess I had assumed David was older as he acts older and was heir to the farm.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/01/2015 23:08

It does always feel like the birth order should be Shula, David, then Elizabeth and Kenton considerably younger.

enochroot · 22/01/2015 00:43

BLzebub Grin

stilllearnin · 22/01/2015 07:19

JE and Carol arriving at roughly the same time seems a bit contrived if it is a Blimmin love child SL- but you know, why not?

I missed an episode last week. My ds immediately piped up - its ok i listened for you. The bull turned into a major music venue. It was up and running inside a week. They needed some plumbing doing and the plumber turned out to be Ed Sheeran. Every one loved it including Jenny darling.

He was taking the piss but I think my work here is done, people!

LillianGish · 22/01/2015 08:11

Justin Elliot can't possibly be the lovechild of anyone - you might just as well say that Emma is the lovechild of Justin Elliot (after all Susan seems keen enough on him) as a way out of her and Ed's financial difficulties. JE's 'local roots' are a reference to his plans to move into Brookfield and demolish it (which we all know won't happen so I don't see why we have to go through this ridiculous charade).
The Ambridge health fairy has definitely been in to see Tony.
BOOP point (if I must) - mention of Burns' Night at the Bull - could this herald an appearance by Jazzer?

CuttedUpPear · 22/01/2015 08:35

stillearnin that's a fantastic synopsis!
I reckon we should all get our DCs to 'listen' and report back. It would certainly cheer up this thread.

R4 · 22/01/2015 08:44

That's brilliant stillearnin. I think someone should report it to Feedback along the lines of "you know all this sexing-up that SOC is doing to entice the yoof audience, this shows their contempt for the nonsense that it is. It's not gaining any new listeners and is only alienating the existing ones."

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 22/01/2015 08:56

Totally believable still. If that happens in the next three months we will know the sw read this thread

My kids are too young to listen. Most episodes are fine but some I wouldn't want them to hear so I don't have it on when they are around. I'm thinking of the jolene perv, the way rob talks to Helen and using the word bitch, the squelch noises I don't want to have to explain, I think ds would have found the tony gore scene distressing as it was so unclear what was happening and no conclusion until the next day

enochroot · 22/01/2015 11:16

Does Jazzer still do the milk round for Mike?

songbird · 22/01/2015 12:12

I've just listened to last night's on iplayer and came on to laugh at BLzebub, but see enoch beat me to it.

Lillian it might just be blind hope saying 'Justin Elliot can't possibly be the lovechild of anyone...' with SOC around!

songbird · 22/01/2015 12:16

And I felt a bit sorry for Neil last night. I think he's one of life's gooduns, but does he generally get taken advantage of? I thought NewTom was a bit insensitive with him, but does he know how much Neil has been doing since he done a bunk? He obviously knows how much work is involved with the pigs, but does he appreciate the nature of the agreement Neil has with Tony?

Or does Susan just feel hard-done-by, not having a go-getting husband?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 22/01/2015 12:21

Mixture of both, I'd say, songbird. Tom has never been renowned for his tact and sensitivity. Neil isn't pushy. Susan is. Recipe for disaster.

guineapiglet · 22/01/2015 14:23

I think Tom and Neil have always had a love/hate master/servant relationship and several spats have broken out over the years, usually resulting in one of them having to apologise to the other and then realising they are pretty codependent in terms of land, understanding of pigs etc. Tom has always assumed higher rank over Zneil, who is a genuinely decent guy. Tom usually comes across as a bit of an entitled plonker when it comes to Neil.... And lilian I am with you, let's hope Burns night means a return of the irreplaceable Jazzer... - Oops now replaced by a 'posh' scots voice. It's not the same without himSad

dairyfarmerswife · 22/01/2015 14:31

I thought it was a BOOP point that Tom proved he hasn't had a character transplant to go with the voice transplant while he was in Canada.

Poor Susan, she is a lot more ambitious for Neil than he is for himself. She just ends up by upsetting him though.

Icimoi · 22/01/2015 15:14

I suppose though Tom may not know precisely what the arrangement is with Neil given that when he came back Tony was in no fit state to discuss it, and it wouldn't have been at the forefront of Pat's mind.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 22/01/2015 16:46

I'm a bit late but my BOOP point for Monday was a reminder that Phoebs actually has a life at school, friends (frenemies), feelings etc and isn't just a plot point for her parents to push around.

ZeroFunDame · 22/01/2015 17:42

I missed one evening, one, and now I feel a bit disconnected. (Even though caught up.)

Several threads ago I was optimistic about the sudden churn and upheaval. "Oh, wow" I said, "It's exciting - he's making the programme his own... " All these shiny new SLs - we'll have so much fun watching them develop and seeing how they're resolved.

Stupid me.

Who was it who said that maybe he's just way out of his depth?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 22/01/2015 18:29

Me!

It's like he's studying it full of plot because he can't do character.

cheminotte · 22/01/2015 18:31

Yes dfw - Tom's behaviour with Neil was totally in character.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 22/01/2015 18:36

That should say stuffing it full of plot!

ZeroFunDame · 22/01/2015 18:53

Nah - probably studying it full. I wonder if it really is harder to hit the right note with radio drama.

songbird's list of SLs has rather shaken me. Perhaps all this stuff would work on TV - but on radio some of the characters need to be just pottering about, getting on with their day, not constantly in crisis.

And I wouldn't even mind the constant crises if I still had any confidence that they would be seen through to a proper resolution. Not just dropped and forgotten. Now I'm just repeating what everyone's already said ...

egnahc · 22/01/2015 19:05

Mike and Vickeee mentioned again- so still with us even if absent. They might become those non speaking characters.

Shallishanti · 22/01/2015 19:09

wow Shock Kate, role reversal !

nauticant · 22/01/2015 19:11

I love the new Kate. She is simply ghastly.

And they're promising Jazzer in the near future.

Ohh-a-noahh! I've said nice things about TA.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 22/01/2015 19:12

Kate is such a bitch

Guess the family heirloom toys will be donated
