This is too much for me now. I need to meditate.

There was mention in the last fortnight of their sale falling through I think.
There just isn't time though to mention the silents with all the tangled storylines going on.

R4 · 21/01/2015 08:03

It's funny how SOC made a grand hurrah of the friendship between the older ladies - Jill, Peggy, Cardboard, Carol - but totally forgot about Pat/Kathy, Ruth/Usha, Shula/Caroline, Jim/Jazzer. Roy/Tom haven't fared much better. The only other friendships we hear much about is Susan/Clarrie - but that's only because they work together and are related - and sundry teenagers.

LillianGish · 21/01/2015 08:41

Maybe Sock is planning to get rid of all the dairy herds/milkmen (Bridge Farm's is gone, Mike is leaving so he is well on the way) so he won't have to get his head round the real life agricultural storyline of plunging milk prices and the dairy farmers' plight thus leaving him free to focus on EastEnder style attempts to sex up the plot.

RocknRollNerd · 21/01/2015 09:17

BOOP point yesterday for the use of Lillian as a counterpoint to Kate - both of them could in theory be very similar in terms of enjoying a good time, not letting on that their relationship has broken down etc but Lillian was lovely to Phoebe as soon as she saw her. It's those little gems of properly constructed drama that keep me hanging on in there and we need more of.

Someone posted this in the Summer which explained all Ed's commitments - basically he's paying Oliver back on a loan, rent (below market) to Oliver for the land, Mike & Vicky for some cows and then BL for land - it's blindingly obvious he's got no money given how tight the margins are. He absolutely needs to get out of dairy surely - it just can't be a viable business for him with all his overheads...

WipsGlitter · 21/01/2015 10:27

I'm loving the scenes with Kate and Pip. She is such a self-absorbed person. What is the age difference between them?

What's BOOP?

Lilymaid · 21/01/2015 10:30

Kate and Phoebe?
Definitely a case of Edina and Saffron there although age difference is less (21 years??)

BringYourOwnSnowman · 21/01/2015 11:21

I'm sure ed and Emma would be in a better situation if they claimed benefits. I'm sure they would be entitled to quite a bit.

I'm getting really fed up with the long list of dramas being dumped on us though. The Emma/ed wedding is clearly going to have drama when I think they could have got away with a big standard simple wedding story.

I can't even be bothered to write to feedback because I can't see soc being anything being defensive and 'I'm clearly cleverer than you because you just don't get it'

cheminotte · 21/01/2015 13:12

Boop point for Kate being such a cliche - 'she thought we were sisters'

nauticant · 21/01/2015 13:26

I foresee the development of Brookfield housing estate which will have some terraced houses, a cul-de-sac, and a square.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 21/01/2015 13:36

Don't forget a shiny new pub and some faux arches for businesses to locate in

Swannykazoo · 21/01/2015 19:12

This
In the past, if Pat so much as broke a fingernail, Kathy would be round straight away to sympathise, have a little whinge about her own travails, and eat up Tony’s portion of the supper that was being kept warm in the oven. Kathy and Pat are bezzie mates, aren’t they? BFFs. So FFS, where IS she?

I have not laughed so much in ages. Not since John Finnimore did the Archers - here's one of the tired sounding men etc

GypsyFloss · 21/01/2015 19:15

Ohhh no-one puts Neilly is the corner.

guineapiglet · 21/01/2015 19:23

Loved the bit of deep irony where Jill was reminiscing with Carol about the importance of old memories and history and how important it all is that nothing is forgottenShock
Er, ....yes Sock... All this history and continuity going down the panSad

What do we suppose the relevance of Dans old milk round is then?
And where is Oliver Foxbreath when Ed needs him?????

GypsyFloss · 21/01/2015 19:28

Maybe Dan the milkman shagged someone who then gave birth to baby Justin? Or Justin's Dad?

guineapiglet · 21/01/2015 19:49

Pooh yes, good theory some history being dragged out of the Brookfield attic to be relevant to JEs claim then...all very Catherine Cookson!!

Icimoi · 21/01/2015 19:50

Which Archer does Carol think might take over the milk round? It'a hardly likely to appeal to any of the younger generation, nor are Kenton, Shula, or Helen likely to be keen; it's slightly more in Tom's line of business, but I can't honestly see why he would ever be interested.

guineapiglet · 21/01/2015 19:50

Pooh????
Ooh????

Why don't we notice massive typos and auto correct things until after they are published...Blush

Icimoi · 21/01/2015 19:51

Rocknroll, I suspect Lil's interest in Phoebe wasn't entirely selfless. I thought it had a fair amount to do with trying to head Pat off from probing where Matt is.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/01/2015 21:26

just caught up after a few days. My main BOOP point recently is that at last I know how the heck staid Phil and Jill came up with 'Shula' and 'Kenton', when clearly bog-standard names like David and Elizabeth are more their style.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 21/01/2015 21:30

What happened to the building blocks when elizabeth was born?

Talk of someone else taking over the milk round - does that mean we are definitely seeing mike leave ambridge?

ErrolTheDragon · 21/01/2015 21:50

BYOS - I expect Jill had got fed up with people asking how to spell Shula (it sounds like it should have an Irish spelling, maybe Sulagh?, though apparently its derivation is Arabic and means 'flame') and decided on common names thereafter - at the time, David and Elizabeth would have been about as vanilla as they come.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 21/01/2015 21:52

are the twins older than david?

PhaedraIsMyName · 21/01/2015 21:53

What do we suppose the relevance of Dans old milk round is then?

Yes, what was all that about?

Bluestocking · 21/01/2015 21:55

Carol's probing questions about the milkround are vv weird. Is JE the spawn of gymslip mum Carol and Dan in his milkman incarnation? Is Carol testing the water to see if Jill has any inkling of this?

ErrolTheDragon · 21/01/2015 22:05

BYOS - yes, haven't you noticed Kenton calling David his little brother sometimes? (by only just over a year though - hadn't realised that.)
