A big showdown tonight I hope.

Thanks to Zero (I think?) for the great title.

OP posts:

I guess Pavel has been locked in the same box of shame as the gangster vendetta against David and all the Paul nonsense. (With the key crushed and ground to powder...)

Speaking of which - I hope Charlie has been gentle with Adam's poorly head. (Because he really can't be doing with too much excitement.)

LillianGish · 04/10/2014 14:40

Totally unrealistic suggestion from Ruth - I just don't believe she or anyone else in her position for that matter would have made it. I just can't believe her conversation with Jill at the party would have prompted her to think along those lines either. V disappointed. Lots of good stuff going on in the plot - why do the SW have to put forward such a ridiculous proposition?

CuttedUpPear · 04/10/2014 18:00

I haven't heard it yet but surely Ruth's suggestion was just to get the argument seesawing a bit - we all know that it would never happen but something is needed to illustrate Ruth's current trauma?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 04/10/2014 18:44

It was the way she was so adamant and added 'its the only option' or words to that effect. It wasn't thrown in as a suggestion but almost a done deal.

Rainy afternoon in front of the TV. Watched The Thick Of It on Netflix, first series with David Archer being bawled at by Malcolm Tucker!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 04/10/2014 19:36

How very dare you mention Malcolm Tucker when I have no reasonable access to Dr Who until tomorrow morning? (Unless I want to iPlay on my phone. Which I don't.) I must try The Thick of It - one day. Was David any good?

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 04/10/2014 20:05

Marking place, must have snoozed thru some of the Ruth bit when listening agin last night.
Will have to Listen Again again.

Eastpoint · 04/10/2014 20:21

Olivia I often find when reading the threads on here that I have fallen asleep in the middle of an episode only to wake up for the last scene & so not realise. I use the Archers podcast to block out DH's snoring as I go to sleep.

PetulaGordino · 04/10/2014 20:33

Zero it is weird hearing david swear! He is only in the first ten minutes of the first episode and is good, but it is strange

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 04/10/2014 20:44

So no urgent need to watch then?

I've just wandered over to the Wenching thread, out of curiosity (54 threads.Shock ) Those people are rude and use words Mimsy wouldn't like. How do we attract more new posters without displaying naked pictures of Matt or Kenton???

RocknRollNerd · 04/10/2014 22:00

Oooo sorry for hijack but Olivia, have you seen this www.empireonline.com/westwing/. I'm planning to waste a good few hours of my life reading it all!

The Thick of It is excellent we've just finished watching the whole thing through on Amazon. Very odd having David Archer in it, at least Douglas from Cabin Pressure was still playing a middle aged smoothie so less of a jump in some respects!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 04/10/2014 22:02

Well by all accounts Roy is such a hunk a nudey photo of him will attract te hordes.

Sorry, feeling a bit ill now

RocknRollNerd · 04/10/2014 22:08

I just remembered something from the Carol scenes, is she going to utterly destroy Jill's garden at Glebe and there will be a massive falling out? She was making huge plans for somewhere she's only just started renting off a friend isn't she?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 04/10/2014 22:09

We are not having Tolkein porn on this lovely thread. Or anywhere. Not whole I'm alive...

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 04/10/2014 22:13

Gandalf with only his beard to protect his modesty?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 04/10/2014 22:14

(Or even "while" I'm alive..)

More likely she'll bewitch Bert into putting in a thousand hours and Freda will begin to ask when he's ever getting paid.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 04/10/2014 22:16

BYOS Brilliant! Guaranteed to get us up to 54 threads in double quick time.

You go first.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 04/10/2014 22:20

Oooh, Freda and carol have a showdown! Maybe bert and Freda will be the surprise divorce!

Or Freda and carol will have a cat fight in the raised bed!

I don't think we need any fanfic about that trio mind you

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 04/10/2014 22:21

Also - isn't Carole only renting Glebe?
Blardy cheek to be pulling out Phil's roses etc? non?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 04/10/2014 22:35

Jill did say she should think of it has hers though.

Maybe she'll find another sink hole.

Bluestocking · 04/10/2014 22:42

I bet Carol goes too far with the garden makeover. When Jill sees it, the actress can really let rip with her amazing repertoire of "oh" and "ooh" sounds, leaving us in no doubt that she is in a serious mardy huff.

Icimoi · 04/10/2014 22:55

So is Brookfield still mortgaged? If so, given that the price would be affected by Route B, surely there'do be peanuts left after paying off the mortgage and the other shareholders?

Icimoi · 04/10/2014 23:04

Perhaps what will happen with Chadam is that Charlie will make it clear they can wave goodbye to the contract renewal if he doesn't get his wicked way with Adam. Adam will pretend to go along with it but will switch his phone on to record, then take the recording round to PC Plot, there'll be a horrendous scandal which will bring down the dreadful Justin, end of Route B, end of new anaerobic digester, Brine takes over Berrow Farm and sacks Knob in order to install Adam as manager, Knob strops off blaming Hellin's dreadful relatives, all live happily ever after.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 04/10/2014 23:09

Gosh you're an optimist icimoi!

Given the ed likes to think he is the reincarnation of Shakespeare I hope he will start on the comedies soon as I'm getting a bit fed up with the tragedies
