How about we immortalise Schrodinger's Baby in the opening paragraph?

How long will this thread last DadDadDad?

Poor Ian!

Do we really need all these scandalous stories?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 02/10/2014 20:55

It feels like the sw are trying to erase Ian as he's not really mentioned.

See my post above about Anna tregorran preferring to be called Ann and when this was pointed out keri Davies replied with a 'we are going with Anna so we will change the bio'. That sounds like someone wishing they could erase the past and start again!

PetulaGordino · 02/10/2014 21:09

Elizabeth was totally self-absorbed (what's new?)

All about how difficult it was for her, no mention at all that Hayley had had to resign as a result of her and Roy's actions

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 02/10/2014 21:20

Carol totally invited her round to dig out the gossip!

BasketzatDawn · 02/10/2014 21:23

First thought on hearing of Carol's potions was: Did she kill her husband? And who will be next? Is that a use for raised flower beds? To conceal the corpse, I mean. They'd have to be fairly deep though - and a bit hopeless with Bert snooping around. He'll feel quite proprietorial I'd think if he puts in hours on her raised beds. I was surprised to hear him again - assumed the actor had retired already. Is Bert not older than Carol? - presumably he can do the heavy work cos he's all manly and she's just a witch.Smile

I recall the private school argument coming up again when Peep was going to sec school. It seems to be the sole point Phil and Jill disagreed on. His view was that the cath school would be right for her due to her piano playing prowess. Where ahs that detail gone then?

Where were Adam and the lecher drinking the beer he just happened to have in his car? I imagined them huddled together in the tractor cab. I'd think if A was going to give Charlie the brush off he'd not have been so keen to drink the beer. But wot do I know. I wonder if anything does happen to the marriage of A and Ian, if the gabs of the village will have a bigoted field day - Oh, well, I never held with people like them marrying. Or it wasn't like a real marriage, was it.

Lastly, there cannot be another dramatic birth in Ambridge. Most births /labours esp. first babies go on for days and are deeply boring affairs (if you are on the outside looking in). In Ambridge we've already had Phoebe arriving in a field, Ben on the kitchen floor, Henry the night Nigel was pushed. Any other dramatic ones? oh, the Irish one came inconveniently while Brine was at a doo. Abby came early. Emmur was an accidental doula-type for someone. Who was that? Please, Mimsy, do fill in the gaps for me. Grin

BasketzatDawn · 02/10/2014 21:26

Yes, x-posted while I was doing my essay (I could teach Phoebe a thing or two!!), Carol definitely wanted the gossip. She's been wanting the goss since the day of the funeral in fact. And I suspect she heard more than she lets on between Rota and E.

justiceofthePeas · 02/10/2014 21:30

Nikki wasn't it that Emmur helped hen e the slight defrosting of their relationship.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 02/10/2014 21:37

Maybe Jess will turn up in her hospital gown having been in labour for 4 days

'Its crowning and you're going to see it born Rob'

BasketzatDawn · 02/10/2014 21:38

Yes, I thought it was Nikki. Was that the birth of Poppy or Holly or whoever? I can't remember which flower. it feels much less recent but I suppose she must be 2 at least by now.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 02/10/2014 21:41

Poppy

BasketzatDawn · 02/10/2014 21:42

YY and Helen will not be in the least 'sisterly solidarity'. She'll be worrying about her upholstery, carpet, etc. getting a stain on.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/10/2014 21:43

Haven't heard Nic (or Will, or Poppy, or Mia & Thing) for ages

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/10/2014 21:44

After the initial frisson of 'oooh, it's Eleanor Bron' I am not liking Carol one bit Hmm

BasketzatDawn · 02/10/2014 21:44

Really? I thought it was Holly, but not at all sure. A friend has a Poppy and I was pretty this babe not the same. Only way I can remember things, or not as the case may be ....

justiceofthePeas · 02/10/2014 21:46

Poppy

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/10/2014 21:47

Definitely Poppy.

I don't think she's as old as 2 either

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/10/2014 21:49

Just googled - it was Poppy's 1st birthday this Tuesday - I can't believe that was allowed to pass unacknowledged!

BasketzatDawn · 02/10/2014 21:51

Thing = Jake. he and Abby and some others were playing together at weekend. I sit corrected on the name. Poppy. Poppy. Poppy. Smile

BasketzatDawn · 02/10/2014 21:54

Really, does that make her younger than Bethany then? Shock I need to go to bed.

BasketzatDawn · 02/10/2014 21:57

Remind me then, where was Will skulking when his Poppy was being born? I do recall Ed being quite happy for Emmur to go and be doula though. I've not forgotten everything. Yet.

BiscuitMillionaire · 02/10/2014 21:58

I loved the background music to the tractor-cab shenanigans - Rufus Wainwright. Subtle as a brick, Charlie.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/10/2014 22:17

Yes, Poppy is younger than Bethany - IIRC Nik was rather off about Beth when she was PG.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/10/2014 22:19

Other birth traumas - wasn't Susan very upset when Christifer was born because of his cleft palate? (which of course was quickly fixed but for once more like reality than an Ambridge Affliction)

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/10/2014 22:45

The background music they keep doing is obv very clever but it all goes right over my head (being an OAP) &, I'd bet, over the heads of at least 50% of Archers listeners

It's a bit quichey Hmm

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 02/10/2014 22:48

you're right, Errol, Susan didn't bond with him for ages (it wasn't fixed that quickly I don't think)

My DC3 was due shortly after Christopher was born, & I'd had those weird pg dreams about him/her having a cleft palate, so when Chris had one it seriously spooked me out Shock
