How about we immortalise Schrodinger's Baby in the opening paragraph?

How long will this thread last DadDadDad?

Ooh yes - now Hayley is likely to bump into the fruits of John's infidelity around the village, will that tip the scales for her?

Even though it was obvs a looooong time ago.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 14/09/2014 22:45

Marking place xx

Nusalembongan · 14/09/2014 22:47

Sorry I don't think she's quit but how can she go back to work there after what's happened?

R is visibly looking for another job or propping up the bar, I don't think it will take long for the locals to work it out.

BiscuitMillionaire · 14/09/2014 22:54

I think Hayley will say OK let's try to work things out, but then Freddie will let the cat out of the bag that he saw Roy and E shagging on another occasion, and that will be that. The question is, who will leave Ambridge, R or H?

Panzee · 14/09/2014 22:59

Maybe Hayley will leave with Vicky and Bethany...

BasketzatDawn · 14/09/2014 23:05

Did Hayley really think that's what Roy meant, that it was only one DTD as it were? I understood it as only one affair. Bully for him, not.

Before tonight, I was thinking Hayley may well go back to work and hold her head high, at least till she finds another job. Be polite and do her job, in a sense being the more mature person in all this. Which she is obvs. But she is quite broken. Lots of women in the same circs would need a sick line in fact. Which would mean Lizard needing to employ someone to cover H's duties. This could cause huge financial hardship to LL as a business. Yay! Thank goodness they got the roof done before Nigel fell off it. Smile

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 14/09/2014 23:51

Just checking in before I listen to tonight's.

Eastpoint · 15/09/2014 04:07

Hayley was so good - mentioning the girls to bring him back to the reality of life as a family (marking place).

PetulaGordino · 15/09/2014 05:43

He is definitely following the script of only admitting to as much as he knows she knows

She's trying to keep things normal for the girls, including still sharing a bed with him although it is more uncomfortable for her Sad

cheminotte · 15/09/2014 06:28

Good idea Basketz - Hayley - phone in sick today love, give yourself some breathing space.

stealthsquiggle · 15/09/2014 09:27

Marking my place so that I can find it from the app...

I managed to listen to almost all of the film this Sunday, thanks to waiting for DD while she did her Brownie stuff in a civic parade Grin

PrincessFiorimonde · 15/09/2014 09:59

Thanks for the new thread, Pseudo.

I hadn't thought about how Hayley may react at seeing Johnnie about the place till someone mentioned it upthread.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 15/09/2014 10:13

Yes... We don't know the conclusion of the Bridge Farm summit meeting yesterday - but if RJ does end up staying there then I imagine Sharon will be in Ambridge rather more often.

(And Sharon's accent seemed decidedly uncertain on Sunday. At the beginning of some sentences she sounded like Jess, or even Elizabeth, and then morphed into something obviously unsouthern and unlandowner-y.)

PetulaGordino · 15/09/2014 10:15

i thought she was jess at first from her tone. i was cooking so the extractor fan was on and i couldn't really hear anything properly Grin

listened again later obv

Veritata · 15/09/2014 10:31

I'm puzzled about where the SWs are going with RoynHayley. Yesterday's episode sounded as if we were meant to assume that Roy was sincere in declaring his everlasting love for Hayley and his declarations that the whole thing was a moment of madness, but really would anyone do that much of a U turn within days of declaring to the OW that they were meant for each other and that he was absolutely prepared to ditch his family? I can see that reality may have dawned when Lizzabeff told him to sling his hook but surely he has to evaluate a bit more what his feelings for Hayley really are if he was so ready to hurt her?

ppeatfruit · 15/09/2014 10:45

Veritata IMO and E most men (and some women too) don't THINK at all about affairs, they don't mean to hurt anyone just to scratch the itch IFYSWIM. It's biology ain't it? ( i know that's an unpopular view ) but it doesn't make it any less true Grin.

trevortrevorslattery · 15/09/2014 10:49

Ugh despicable Roy. It's all about him isn't it. I so so so hope Hayley tells someone Vicky

PetulaGordino · 15/09/2014 10:49

i think it's realistic - he wouldn't have left hayley without another bed to go to. he's following the script of only admitting what she already knows, he knows what side his bread is buttered. he had a nice life with hayley before he messed it up, now that elizabeth has rejected him his options have narrowed (stay with hayley or get himself a bedsit/live with his dad/find a live-in hospitality job) he knows what he would rather. we don't really know what roy is feeling really - but whether he loves hayley or not as he declares we know what owuld be the most comfortable solution for him so he's gunning for that

songbird · 15/09/2014 12:21

VERY disappointed 'cup of tea and a wazz' isn't in the new thread title Angry

Oh I love Hayley, she was so dignified wasn't she? And her scorn at him saying 'fantasy' - not being able to find the swimming cossie, still needing to buy a cagoule... Just brilliant.

I agree that she will talk to either Lizbeff of Freddie (aka "son" - seriously, what is Roy on?!) and the truth will out, and she'll kick him out. And I think she should will sue for constructive dismissal. I don't think Roy would have the nerve, but Hayley should will.

So effing bored of Route B - ffs we know the sink hole will scupper it so just get on with it!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 15/09/2014 12:25

I'm sure he does still love Hayley and I think for a lot of men that dawning realisation of what they are about to lose brings them back down with a bump.

In this case they haven't written Roy very well if hats what they want to portray

I think affairs can happen because people sleepwalk into it and don't fully consider the consequences. In most cases it's very quickly realised that its boy love with the ow at all

Again, this isn't how they are portraying it but its almost like that's what Hayley is responding to iyswim. The writing is a bit off for me

I wish they would stop gettibg rid of the old blood and bringing in new blood

I have a terrible feeling that in 40 years time Kirsty is going to reappear as a bitter old crone intent on revenge on Tom and Helen a la Carole/jenny

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 15/09/2014 12:31

When I say gettibg rid of the old blood I mean the existing new blood!

How many old new blood are we hearing from these days? Jolene and fallon and jazzer and obv Hayley. Ian, usha and Alan have gone quiet and they got rid of Kirsty, Alan's daughter, Geraldine, Maurice have they?

IrianofWay · 15/09/2014 12:48

Ooh the lying snivelling little turd! Angry

Sorry.... just caught up. Why why why does he want to stay with her anyway when he was quite happy to tell Hayley ('I owe her that much' were he words I beleive) a few days ago. WHere is the logic?

mummytime · 15/09/2014 12:51

Jolene has been around for quite a long time - silent to start with, but I still remember Clarrie worrying about Jolene and Eddy. She comes from one of the local villages doesn't she?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 15/09/2014 13:05

Yes! And then she went for Sid!

She's still new blood though - I mean not long established families with archers blood or grundys or carters (or tuckers!).

ppeatfruit · 15/09/2014 13:07

songbird These things take time you know Grin

Yes agree Sharon's accent was a bit Hmm That nonsense that Tony was spouting about LOVE. IMO A parent who really cares for their child tries to find something that they 're happiest doing not pushing a non - academic dc into an academic college where he'll be very fed up.
