How about we immortalise Schrodinger's Baby in the opening paragraph?

How long will this thread last DadDadDad?

The localised deluge must be a specific act of God, punishing Leonie for naming her child after a saint in a secular ceremony.

It will presumably also do something to the sinkhole.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 17/09/2014 19:41

I thought the ed/johnny scene was the only one that didn't feel contrived and liked seeing the hard labour of farming (it isn't all list and shagging!!)

ErrolTheDragon · 17/09/2014 19:42

TheOne - you've totally missed the point of TA then. All the scandals are mere window dressing on its vital function of educating all and sundry on matters agricultural.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 17/09/2014 19:44

Maybe locusts will descend on the village tomorrow

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 17/09/2014 19:52

TOWtNS Fortunately there were not enough of you to keep AMEX afloat... But how can you tolerate TA if you're bored by the farming???

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 17/09/2014 19:54

Oh I never listened to Amex Shock

& I do like the farming bits, honest. I think I went downstairs for some wine or something...

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 17/09/2014 19:54

(I wasn't entirely serious about the lust)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 17/09/2014 19:55

unitarian · 17/09/2014 23:42

The thunderclaps and deluge were a bit over-portentious. I thought the landrover was going to go down a sinkhole, maybe even Brookfield itself would!
Perhaps the sound effects person wanted to have some fun so the writers indulged this urge.

I don't mind a bit of lust. Depends who's lusting I suppose!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 18/09/2014 00:47

OMG, it's TODAY!

A little something for you JazzerWineWineWine - though you've probably cast your vote already.

(Pretend it's whisky.)

(Will there be "Yes" and "No" emoticons in the morning?)

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 18/09/2014 08:43

Jazzer doesn't get a vote! Will be interesting if its mentioned as an independent Scotland would have an impact on agricultural policy.

I didn't find Lynda very plausible and in not looking forward to te next few days with her like this

Also, why have they saddled us with pc plot and Wayne and ditched Robert and matt. If we don't hear some amusing quip from matt at the naming ceremony I will be very annoyed!!

BitOutOfPractice · 18/09/2014 08:44

There haven't been aby spoilers R4!

vixsatis · 18/09/2014 08:51

I haven't listened since Sunday; but will the spring at Brookfields and floods/sinkholes save Brookfield from the new road? The road story is clearly an airing of a "rural issue" but SW can't let the road happen because that would be the End of Ambridge As We Know It

R4 · 18/09/2014 08:55

If someone starts a post with "Right, the RT spoiler is on FB again ..." then I am not going to continue reading it. Therefore I don't know what the rest of the sentence says, whether it contains a spoiler or not. I also don't dare read the next few responses because they may contain more on the spoiler.

So my reading of the thread is messed up because of something that isn't even there? [grump] Are we straying into Schrodinger territory again?

ppeatfruit · 18/09/2014 08:56

This thread moves sooo fast that I was going to say Tallgiraffe The SWs must 've been influenced telepathically by your near flood Grin

There was a big thunderstorm here last night and rain this morning too, in mid west Fr. Grin. There was I thinking that they seemed to be getting better with the weather related plots.

Leonie is going to be devastated like her marquee Grin. Oh dear Grin I feel sorry for the EmmFall business though Sad

R4 · 18/09/2014 09:06

The road story is clearly an airing of a "rural issue" but SW can't let the road happen because that would be the End of Ambridge As We Know It

I know some people are saying that they are bored by the road issue but that is missing the point. We had a similar issue round here: the debate went on for at least ten years (and I don' believe it's dead yet, the plans are probably still lurking in someone's filing cabinet even now) and caused huge blight - the uncertainty killed the property market. We have seen what the uncertainty is doing to David's business and state of mind.
This is the sort of long-term story that TA ought to be doing.

PetulaGordino · 18/09/2014 09:08

i sort of assumed the road story (which i do find boring, sorry) was to reflect some of the HS2 issues

R4 · 18/09/2014 09:19

Oh. what happened to empathy? How would you feel if your part of the green&pleasant was under threat so that other people could rush past it at speed. There may be economic benefit - those who complained about the M40 eventually saw huge gains as their area became more accessible to London commuting - but there could equally be losses - farms cut in half, people now more able to commute for work and therefore killing the village. But, above all, there is uncertainty.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 18/09/2014 09:24

It ought to be a long term, slow burn story - but given that PM patiently explained to us the effects of rain on sink holes, just before Ambridge suffered rain on a sink hole, I suspect it might all be wrapped up pretty damn quick.

Although what Brookfield will do with half the farm disappearing into the earth.....

vixsatis · 18/09/2014 09:32

I'm with Brookfield on the road; and with the poor people blighted by the vanity project that is HS2 but TA stories never play out at a realistic speed

ppeatfruit · 18/09/2014 09:37

I agree R4 I love the buyers on the property programmes on telly who never want to buy house by a busy road - how did they get there I wonder? We're all hypocrites in a way though aren't we?

ppeatfruit · 18/09/2014 09:37

Speaking for myself of course Grin

PetulaGordino · 18/09/2014 09:42

um, i do feel empathy for the real people who are facing these issues. i actually live very near and know very well members of communities that will be heavily affected by the HS2 plans if they go ahead in their current form. i find the way the story is being played out on the archers unrealistic, which is mainly what makes it boring. done another way i'm sure i would feel differently.

mummytime · 18/09/2014 09:46

R4 there are no actual spoilers (unless the number of words in the RT snippet itself is a spoiler).

Roads etc. do rumble on for years. Opposite my house is somewhere that is long overdue for redevelopment, and a site next to it that they would like to develop with it. I thought it had died after the technical report came back saying it would be hard to develop both together, but I've seen rumours again. And our by-pass is well past its expected life span, and is positively dangerous - but as someone said at a public consultation I was at recently "Do you think we should still be building by passes". I'd didn't quite have the gumption to say "Of course we should if safety is a real issue".

BitOutOfPractice · 18/09/2014 09:57

R4 there weren't any spoilers. I think the excitement of Ed's milk quality talk may have over excited you. Maybe a lie down.

Besides, and I mean this gently, it's not really up to one poster to come in and tell others what they can and cannot post. Especially when they had been sensitive anyway.
