New thread for hopefully an exciting Sunday episode. Poor Hayley.

OP posts:
BuildYourOwnSnowman · 12/09/2014 20:35

Just read he synopsis

Do you think the sinkhole will make route be too expensive?

Can't believe lizzie blamed being drunk. I can't stand people who do that! Take responsibility for your actions.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 12/09/2014 20:38

I would think that's what the sinkhole is for, yes.

I almost applauded Hayley out loud for protecting Freddie....

PetulaGordino · 12/09/2014 20:48

"a little heart... that she didn't want"

unitarian · 12/09/2014 20:49

Hayley gave the drunk excuse short shrift, as she did with Elizabeth's apologies.
I thought she handled both conversations with dignity but where do they go from here? Brum?

I was pleased she protected Freddie's part in the locket transference or maybe she was leaving Roy to squirm on that one because his first thought was that Lizzie had given it to her. He sounded thunderstruck at that.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 12/09/2014 20:54

What kind of due diligence do they do when considering routes?

Susan will brand lizzie a home wrecker surely. Her reputation such as it is will be in tatters.

If Hayley was feeling vindictive she could go on some of those wedding forums and mention the owner of ll likes to shag married men

Carol has gone quiet hasn't she? Hopefully they've dropped the storyline. I don't think I could bear the whole Jennifer being suspicious and potentially finding something incriminating only for it to be innocent malarky

CuttedUpPear · 12/09/2014 20:58

DS (17) and I were listening in the car on our way home tonight. I knew we'd lose the signal as we descended in the the valley ahead so I stopped at the brow of the hill in front of a lovely sunset.

He was rapt with attention - lately he has been commenting on all of the characters (although somewhat misguidedly had Rooth and Deevid as his faves). We were cheering Hayley on.

Years of indoctrination have paid off!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 12/09/2014 21:00

Do you think lizzie is sorry she slept with someone else's husband or sorry that she's found herself in this shitstorm?

cheminotte · 12/09/2014 21:31

Well done Pear - - you must be proud.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 12/09/2014 21:50

\link{http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mung_bean\mung beans} BYOS Grin

Hayley was bloody magnificent tonight & Elizabeth & Roy were craven. I'm beginning to think they really deserve each other Hmm

Veritata · 12/09/2014 21:57

It bloody annoyed me listening to Roy bleating on about how he didn't want to hurt Hayley. Only two days ago he was blithely planning to dump her and the kids because he was "meant to be" with Elizabeth. Flaming hypocrite.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 12/09/2014 22:09

I didn't hear it but was he implying he wants to stay with Hayley?

I also didn't realise that he broke up with Kate and took up with Hayley so quickly. I always thought he seemed very devoted to Hayle when they married/had Abbie

On the relationship threads there always seems to be a script that cheating partners follow. Roy doesn't seem to be following any script (except that written by someone who hasn't quite got human interactions down to a fine art)

Also, if they make Freddie's rebellious run fizzle out now that will be really shite

GypsyFloss · 12/09/2014 22:14

I thought it was excellently done, both in writing and delivery. I hope Roy is left with nothing.

BYOS the latter most definitely!

ErrolTheDragon · 12/09/2014 22:31

I do hope that if all the rest of the Tuckers do disappear to Brum they take Roy but Hayley stays. One of the best female characters (esp after tonight) - and we want Feebs to stay, dont we, to do her A levels (surely she must have just started those, uprooting her now would be bad) and then go on to be a properly educated woman with a proper job.

What's going to happen re Hayley's job though? Lizzie surely can't fire her; H doesn't have the luxury of throwing away her salary esp now.

Only slight quibble with tonight's episode is that I can't believe Jim of all people hasn't come across the term 'guideparent' as a secular alternative to 'godparent'.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/09/2014 22:35

Oh, Freddie - I'm sure he's destinied for lots of scrapes of various sorts, being Nigel's son but lacking parental guidance (that he will respect, now). Lily will be the sensible one....for now at least.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 12/09/2014 22:43

Jim won't have had much to do with anybody with babies, surely? I have, a bit, & I'd never heard of guideparents before this either!

The parents I've known have either had proper christenings or nothing. Naming ceremonies aren't very common.

BiscuitMillionaire · 12/09/2014 22:47

Mungo

nauticant · 12/09/2014 22:51

I'd never heard of guideparents before this either!

It's a new one to me too. And I know all kinds of useless shit.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/09/2014 22:53

Or Mary Mungo and Midge .... not sure he looks like a Border Terrier though

CuttedUpPear · 12/09/2014 23:01

BYOS it sounds as if Roy will happily chuck his executive suitcase back under the marital bed if Hayley would just get over herself. Clearly since Lisbeth has dumped him there is now no reason not to.

Hayley was MAGNIFICENT btw.

OddFodd · 12/09/2014 23:19

I've never heard of guideparent either. Godlessparent, yes.

Go Hayley. I hope she shames the pair of them out of the village.

Mungo Jerry = Fred West :(

ErrolTheDragon · 12/09/2014 23:22

I reckon that tonight, plus the previous bit with Roy when he was not admitting what had gone on, was something of a masterclass in how to deal with your DH having an affair with your boss in a dignified manner.

Esp versus elizabeth who kept saying sorry but really doesnt sound it.

PetulaGordino · 12/09/2014 23:37

my mum was a guideparent/godlessparent equivalent. they called her the child's "special person"

unitarian · 13/09/2014 01:52

Hayley's in a tough position. She works for the woman who's wrecked her marriage and she lives cheek by jowl with her in-laws.
Elizabeth's sitting pretty.

LillianGish · 13/09/2014 07:32

Well put Unitarian.

stilllearnin · 13/09/2014 07:41

Elizabeth's 'sorry' was horrendous. It sounded like she was talking to one of the children 'sorry, but you can't go to that party'. Hayley was ace and Roy a slimeball. I wonder if Hayley would negotiate a pay off but as LL is a family thing I don't think she'd have the heart to take from Freddie and lily. I also cannot see her telling mike and vicki.
