New thread for hopefully an exciting Sunday episode. Poor Hayley.

Not too long songbird! It really brings home what a long slow burn this storyline has been. I'd forgotten about his comment about her make up ages ago

songbird · 09/09/2014 10:53

Oh yes I loved her rambling. Thousands (millions?) of people the world over screeching 'just bloody get on with it!'

songbird · 09/09/2014 10:56

The best was the oh-so-subtle 'this better?' when she'd obviously just 'had to' go and get changed when they were going out.

I was disappointed Tony didn't gently (or not so!) remind her that Jess is the wounded party, until I remembered only Kirsty and Tom (and Ian and Adam?) know about him cheating.

She really has rewritten history hasn't she?

unitarian · 09/09/2014 11:18

Songbird. You're right about some men wanting to pull strong women down and Helen would no doubt have thought herself to be one.
He's systematically destroyed any independence she ever had however intermittent it was.

Now what we need is a convo in the shop involving Jim recalling how vicious Rob was after the digester tour. Maybe Jolene or Kenton recalling that it was Rob who sent Kenton off on a train to wherever on Stag Night.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/09/2014 11:30

I actually don't agree that Brian and Rob are 'two peas' - their motivations are entirely different. Brian is just a regular serial adulterer because he enjoys relationships with different women - he's in it for (at the time mutual) pleasure. Rob ITOH is in it for power.

mummytime · 09/09/2014 11:41

Actually agree. Brian seems okay as long as you aren't married to him, he's not married or having an affair with your friend/sister/daughter. Even then he does treat the other parties okay, as long as they ignore infidelity. He even doesn't seem much bothered by Jenny's possible slip.
Rob though seems unpleasant and can be cruel to anyone who gets in his way.

I'd happily have lunch with Brian; wouldn't want to spend more time with Rob than I could help.

MrsCampbellBlack · 09/09/2014 11:47

I would possibly do more than lunch with Brian Wink

unitarian · 09/09/2014 11:47

I'm worried about Mike's van because it's the type of crime that happens around He Who Will Not Be Named.

songbird · 09/09/2014 11:48

I'm worried about Mike's van because it's the type of crime that happens around He Who Will Not Be Named.

Good God don't say that!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/09/2014 11:56

Who is HWMNBN?!

PetulaGordino · 09/09/2014 11:59

darrell

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 09/09/2014 12:08

Oh don't say that unitarian! He's turned a corner and, I imagine, been quietly dumped.

Though I am quite vexed that my plans for Rosa's career as the future Mrs Dan seem to have been shelved. (For now...)

Elephants he's a carpenter and handyman of ill-repute. Previously married to Elona and DF of Rosa and ?. I rather liked his appearances because his helplessness made other people feel awkward - and thus showed who actually had any backbone in Ambridge. Answer: the Grundys and Neil Carter.

Everyone else here hates him and Pseudo will not allow mention of his name...

Veritata · 09/09/2014 12:17

His main crime was being UNBELIEVABLY IRRITATING.

Re the van, normally you'd look around for the nearest Horrobin, but as they haven't been mentioned lately I'm assuming the SWs have someone else in mind.

trevortrevorslattery · 09/09/2014 12:27

ppeatfruit yes the football cards comment! I was thinking Susan's ramble monologue was a bit Alan Bennett-ish Grin

PseudoBadger · 09/09/2014 12:34

Stop it. Do not mention that name again. Thank you.

OP posts:
PseudoBadger · 09/09/2014 12:35

I don't think we will know who took the van, it's a mechanism to force Mike out.

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/09/2014 12:37

Ah yes - didn't he spend Christmas in the Grundys' shed, or something?

Thanks for the explanation :)

TypicaLibra · 09/09/2014 12:37

We were given an indication at Tom's stag do that Rob would pull if given the opportunity, in a much less subtle way even than Brian. He was the only one who wanted to go to that strip club wasn't he? I can't remember the details, but he was pretty persistent about going. And Tom's not around now to put two and two together.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 09/09/2014 13:05

apparently Mowgli-Montezuma is going to be Mungo - that's much too sensible!

(isn't it Scottish? Topical!)

cryhavoc · 09/09/2014 13:14

Just caught up with yesterday's episode, which I thought was a cracker. I am not usually a fan of Pat and Moany, but I thought the scenes with RichJohn were lovely. I hope he's staying - any character who can make the horrible Bridge Farm duo appealing has great promise.

And it was wonderful to here some proper Radio Carter/Clarrie gossiping.

stilllearnin · 09/09/2014 13:22

MrsCampbellBlack that comment cannot go unobserved! Shock

stilllearnin · 09/09/2014 13:26

Oh I have just googled your nn. A veil has been lifted Grin

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 09/09/2014 13:30

I only think the van thief is known to us because mike kept going on and on about 'what kind of person' etc etc

I would have thought him pulling out of the milk round will be imminent and whatever family heirloom ed pawned is lost forever.

I really hope they don't get ed back on the drugs (and then eventually get him off them ridiculously easily once they've had enough)

There is a lot of misery in ambridge at the moment (I can't see richjohn bringing joy for long) and its turning a bit eastenders. Thank god thy haven't moved a Mitchell in

ppeatfruit · 09/09/2014 14:00

BYOS I can't see rich john bringing joy for more than a day actually ; did ou notice how EXTREMELY keen he seemed to get to know the farm"where's gran going?" He wants to get his feet under the table there fast I reckon.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/09/2014 14:08

Would RichJohn have heard about Tom's exile?
