New thread for hopefully an exciting Sunday episode. Poor Hayley.

OP posts:
LillianGish · 08/09/2014 20:26

Helen needs someone to point out to her what an idiot she's being. Rob has isolated her from all her friends, sent her brother to Canada, so that just leaves Pat - who seems to have the measure of Knob. Except now she's going to have all her attention taken up with being granny to Johnny.

OddFodd · 08/09/2014 20:51

Please can we shoehorn Schrodinger's baby into the next thread title? :o

I'd thought the RJ predictions were all a bit premature but here he is, with his enthusiasm for muscles and manual labour.

I hope he turns out to be gay and Freddie falls in love with him :o

HumphreyCobbler · 08/09/2014 21:00

arf at Schrodinger's baby

looking forward to catching up with tonight's episode now.

Abra1d · 08/09/2014 21:18

Is [Rich] related to phoebe?

Yes, his father and Phoebe's mother are/were first cousins.

PetulaGordino · 08/09/2014 21:20

So they're second cousins I think?

I wasn't quite expecting John jr to turn up so soon! But nice to hear pat and tony cheerful for a change

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 08/09/2014 21:24

Do you think he'll just stick around forever then? What about the hilariously named Sharon and Kylie (is that right?) his family? But they only like watching "soooooerps" so I guess they're not worth worrying about.

Abra1d · 08/09/2014 21:25

I never know if that means they are first cousins once removed or second cousins, but something like that!

Rich's father John is Tony's son and Phoebe's mother Kate is Jennifer's daughter. Tony and Jennifer are both children of Peggoi and her first husband Jack, the drunkard.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 08/09/2014 21:30

That's second cousins (if your parents are cousins).

Once removed etc comes if you're in different generations (although that isn't always reflected in age of course). So my mum's cousin is my first cousin, once removed (because he's a generation up). His son is my second cousin, because our parents are cousins and so we're in the same generation. If your cousin has a granddaughter, she'd be your first cousin twice removed (two generations apart).

I'm not helping am I!

LillianGish · 08/09/2014 21:30

Second cousins are your cousins children, cousins once removed are your cousins cousins (I think!)

PetulaGordino · 08/09/2014 21:31

Iirc the "removed" part is if they are of different generations, the "first/second" part is how far up you have to go to get siblings. So it's two generations from John to Tony and from Kate to Jennifer, and John jr and phoebe are the same generation so are second cousins

I could easily have made this all up in my head!

PetulaGordino · 08/09/2014 21:32

I think I said what elephants said

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 08/09/2014 21:35

I wonder what Kylie is doing now. She did a degree at Lancaster a few years back. Sounds like she went back to Leeds afterwards.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 08/09/2014 21:52

& as someone pointed out on FB, Kylie is Clive Horrobin's daughter Shock

(I had forgotten)

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 08/09/2014 22:04

Kylie will make an appearance when a single lady is required. Maybe for Tom? Marrying your brothers sons mothers daughter is quite up there for soap relationships!

I think the new sw need to redo the lesson on subtlety.

PetulaGordino · 08/09/2014 22:06

I have cousins who are both cousins and half-siblings

yes I am from Norfolk

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 08/09/2014 22:06

Richjohn has already signalled that he loses it so can we expect a grandparents abuse storyline?

unitarian · 08/09/2014 23:57

At last! The Greek Chorus does its sums.

JessieMcJessie · 09/09/2014 02:13

Isn't Helen friendly with the motjer of Rowan, who used to share childcare? Ironic that she more or less has no friends, when her secondary excuse to P&T?after jewellery class, when she was shagging Knob was that she was "supporting a girlfriend who was having a hard time".

I liked "Johnny". Good acting. Is that the same accent as PC Plod?

Would be perfectly legal for Phoebe and Johnny to get it on, would it be viewed as scandalous I wonder?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 09/09/2014 08:35

I hope richjohn isn't the arsonist!

The actor was very good. Especially when compared to josh the night before (sounded like they weren't in the same room).

PetulaGordino · 09/09/2014 08:52

please let us hear rob and helen finding out that richjohn is around

trevortrevorslattery · 09/09/2014 09:26

jessie ooh no! Richjohn is yorkshire and PC Plod definitely Lancs.

Randy peas in a pod!! ----> Envy Envy

songbird · 09/09/2014 10:31

Blimey you lot are good! I like Johnnie, especially how saying the same seems so awkward to P&T.

Can we have 'cup of tea and a wazz' in the next thread title? Please?

On R&H, someone said Rob wouldn't bother with a strong-minded independent rational woman though, would he?

I once work with a guy who liked nothing more than getting into relationships with strong women and completely destroying them! He tried it with me (in a professional rather than personal level thankfully!) and landed on his arse. I did get into trouble over an email I sent to another colleague he was actually sexually harrassing, in which I cast aspersions on the size of his member - he logged into my email and found it Shock. He went crying to the boss and resigned in high dudgeon, clearly thinking we'd be sacked and he'd be welcomed back to the fold, but it didn't work. He was an incompetent arrogant arse and we'd been looking for a way to get rid!

I hope Jess and Hellin meet again, because I kind of wanted Jess to be more explicit:

'are you still working?' 'yes, but in a reduced capacity'
'do you still see family?' 'yes, but my brother has recently emigrated, actually that was Rob's idea'
'does he tell you what to wear?' 'well, he has good taste, so.....'
'does he critisise what you cook?' 'yes, I mean no, I mean, he makes suggestions.....'
'do you still see friends?' 'erm....'
and so on...

So glad the crones are on the case!

songbird · 09/09/2014 10:32

cor, that was longer than I meant it to be!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 09/09/2014 10:48

"Round Britain Quiz

Where might you find Schrodinger's baby, two randy peas in a pod, a cup of tea and a wazz and an academic failure made suddenly heir to the kingdom?"

Speaking of babies - did anyone else hold their breath when Today decided to reprise some announcements on the last royal pregnancy?

ppeatfruit · 09/09/2014 10:50

Oh yes I've missed the chorus Grin that was a brilliant episode. I loved Susan wondering whether the 'football cards were in a prominent enough position'. In her story to Clarrie about Jess, fabulous.
