Roll up roll up for The Wedding special from Catheter Hall. Is the lark flying high? Will Krusty jam that ring on the porky finger?

This is the BBC page where you can get the podcast. Tonight's is there.

My word, that was gripping. I shall have to listen again to get the full effect. Poor, poor Kirsty. Loved the Grundy commentary!

WillieWaggledagger · 24/04/2014 21:42

Kirsty is one of the few I genuinely like. It was so heartbreaking - 15 years!

I've always thought she could do better than tom, but that was just so painful

GypsyFloss · 24/04/2014 21:43

Thankyou AllMimsy , that's fab. Off to listen now Smile

Thanks mimsy - you've pointed out that link before and I wonder why that gets updated earlier than anywhere else?

GypsyFloss · 24/04/2014 22:02

Well that was excellent. Kirsty played a blinder but I would have been quite happy with hysterical sobbing rather than the 'arghhh' .
Loved the running commentary from Messrs. Grundy too.

As an aside , ' Jesu' Joy of Man's Desiring ' is one of my Dad's staple twiddly organ playing bits before a service starts. Hearing it there was weird...I felt like I was listening to my Dad!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 24/04/2014 22:03

I'm watching Masterchef on iPlayer - but find myself worrying about Kirsty....

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 24/04/2014 22:03

Beats me, Willie, especially as it's a right bugger to find on the BBC website! You'd think they'd want to draw attention to it, given how slow they are at updating i-player.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 24/04/2014 22:19

Oh that was really sad :(

Bastard Tom for leaving it so late. Peggoi will be fuming... will the Will remain...?

I did feel sorry for him too though. He sounded kind of broken.

Oh dear.

CuttedUpPear · 24/04/2014 22:35

I really want a happy ending for Krusty too (one that doesn't involve Tom).

PrincessFiorimonde · 24/04/2014 22:49

Shock Shock Shock

Songbird · 24/04/2014 22:49

Oh my! Have spent the past 2 days catching up on 2 weeks worth and finished perfectly in time for tonight's episode.

So glad Kirsty gave him what for, though she forgot to mention that he proposed to her in the first place (totes on the rebound). Agree the keening was a bit much.

Songbird · 24/04/2014 22:50

Oh, and R4? I knew you'd be back!

R4 · 24/04/2014 23:16

Thanks for the welcome back guys. I was following events via the medium of MN even if I wasn't actually listening live.Smile

Funny how the sympathy of the last few days for Tom has evaporated. He's a sniveling, spineless coward and she's better off without him!

Songbird · 24/04/2014 23:32

We're nothing if not fickle!

goldface · 24/04/2014 23:38

just caught up with the episode and the thread, still laughing at the opening 'hello you one!'

poor Kirsty, but also I think a bit poor Tom? He did sound broken. But too late Tom, way too late. He should have done what Peggoi told him, she will be fuming I think?

JessieMcJessie · 25/04/2014 01:29

I thought it was terrible. Roy would never have been so stupid as to have organised a vintage tractor. And Tom would have actually articulated his feelings to Kirsty instead of just saying "I can't"ï¼? It's wrong" "I'm sorry" over and over again. He had missed his chance the night before and even in his stupid little brain would have known that jilting her at the altar was worse than going through with it and getting divorced later. Alan would have stepped in to counsel.

The wailing was cartoonish. I used to like the Archers as it was lifelike. That was just soapy shite.

Disclaimer: I got engaged at Christmas. I am getting married in about 7 weeks. I had my dress fitting the same day as Kirsty. I am riding to church in a haycart.

OK, the last one's not true but the rest may or may not have influenced my response to this episode.

Have you got a fiddler Jessie and a bridesmaid with a complex personality and an odd 3 year old? If so, I advise keeping him well away from dilutable drinks.

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding. Can we become over-invested in yours now instead please? Grin

They jumped the shark with the Fergie. Figuratively speaking.

Gypsy yes, it's a ceilidh so I DO have a fiddler! And my maid of honour has a boisterous 4 year old. And I have spent over 2 grand on a dress, after first buying a high street one. (Don't flame me, I am 40, had a long time to save up, and I've already returned the first one).

I am not however having a balloon arch constructed by an aeronautical engineer and I live in Hong Kong where moribund pheasants are thin on the ground.

Oh, and I'm not marrying a mentally unstable sausage baron. You might actually get a return on your over-investment Grin.

GypsyFloss · 25/04/2014 07:07

Excellent. A ceilidh in Hong Kong sounds like a grand kind of wedding. I look forward to hearing all about it...do you have anyone who can do us a running commentary from the event? I suspect Joe Grundy would go if you promised to feed him and parked him near enough to the Gents.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/04/2014 07:46

Re the tractor - they needed a PD that would push Tom over the edge in a John-related way. As such it was perfect.

I think Tom will have fled to Granny's house, she'll be furious for all of two minutes and then they'll start working out an alternative to the sausage empire using her dosh.

TallGiraffe · 25/04/2014 07:51

I can totally see how Roy booked the Fergie - it would be exactly the kind of thing I'd do Blush Google wedding transport, get onto a vintage car site, then oh look vintage tractors perfect for a farmer. At no point thinking through the implications.
