Will this thread make it to the wedding? Will it outlive Tony?

Unitarian, can't you call one of them 'Toolkit'? Grin

I found the whole Fallon scenario quite frustratingly contrived. I agree it would be a NONo for someone in the trade to be drunk and disorderly. I did laugh though at the very tame hen night. Poor Kirsty, all a bit of a damp squib.

nauticant · 28/03/2014 17:33

Don't you think that the new actor playing Tony has a really whiny whingy voice?

It's almost like his using this as a template:

debska · 28/03/2014 17:33

Love this thread. All my children have archers names . Been listening for 30 years. Makes me feel v old. I am hoping that Rob tries it on with Fallon too

unitarian · 28/03/2014 17:47

I do like Toolkit!
Feckless and Aimless would suit the pair we have now so I might name change them.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 28/03/2014 18:03

Ds1 is a month younger than Chris Carter & Ds2 is 2 months younger than Pip & they both have TA character names (but not Archers)

Never thought of that before!

Congratulations, TG Smile

WillieWaggledagger · 28/03/2014 18:09

i know a couple called helen and rob, so it can be weird seeing the names together

but my H+R are LOVELY and couldn't be further from the characters

Iwantacampervan · 28/03/2014 19:07

The questions - he's not letting Helen know about himself and their night is he?

PseudoBadger · 28/03/2014 19:09

"I have the Archers name du jour and it's very odd seeing it all over this thread"

Hi Rob!

Oh dear.... Mc?

GypsyFloss · 28/03/2014 19:12

Jill is being very creepy over Ruth. And there's mega signposts about Ruth's future...as the bee keeper ...or not.

FIFIBEBE · 28/03/2014 19:15

Oh noooooooooo. Sobs

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 28/03/2014 19:15

I bet it's twins & one's still there

BitOutOfPractice · 28/03/2014 19:15

Oh no! Hmm That made me cry

Jenijena · 28/03/2014 19:16

Poor Ruth.

BitOutOfPractice · 28/03/2014 19:16

Hi pseudo!

CarolineKnappShappey · 28/03/2014 19:16

Oh for God's sake.
No caution about telling people, no caution about waiting for 12 weeks, or the lambing thing.
It was all so bloody happy.
Sledgehammer of a plot device.

GypsyFloss · 28/03/2014 19:20

I'm not surprised to be honest. But the mention upthread of twins and one surviving sounds a possibility?

CarolineKnappShappey · 28/03/2014 19:50

I hope there is a surviving twin. But I doubt it.

It's just been so stupidly positive. Just so they could wring this out for dramatic effect. She's what? 46? And been lambing?

It makes me cross. Women are not that blindly in denial about things. It's just so bloody clunky.

HumphreyCobbler · 28/03/2014 20:01

I agree. Just like poor Nigel banging on about what a wonderful life he had for WEEKS before he fell off the roof.

and in a pointless aside,- did anyone hear that wonderful More or Less discussion of how accurate the length of his falling cry was, given the height of Lower Loxley's roof?

BasketzatDawn · 28/03/2014 20:02

In a sense getting it/the miscarriage over with in one episode was quite tactful - much less stressful than going on for days of wondering and discussing - esp for listeners who may feel emotionally affected. They've been giving us clear hints for weeks that it wasn't going to go well anyway. At least it's felt like weeks. I don't think there's a twin either.

Another contrived scene with PC Plot? Does he have no other work to do? And Tom, doesn't he work all hours so what was he doing gadding about in the daytime? I found Tit a creep too - I think he'll use the info Helen gave him against Fallon, start taunting her about it, and Helen will get stick for not keeping it all in the sisterhood. He's such a nasty bugger, why can't H see that. aargh! But then I was able to only half-listen tonight.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 28/03/2014 20:04

'What happens in Brum.... stays in Brum!'

But:

'What happens in Felpersham..... must be reported in intricate detail over the breakfast detail to your male partner.'

ErrolTheDragon · 28/03/2014 20:06

No caution about telling people, no caution about waiting for 12 weeks

They did mean to keep it to themselves till later (R, D and J) - they got outed by Lily's mistaken gossip.

So it's a public service (complete with helpline) - well, for those grieving for miscarried babies, if it helps other people understand the pain (even if it was unplanned and you've got a 'complete' family') then good.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/03/2014 20:11

Allmimsy - yes and 'what sort of place is this Tropics' in disapproving tones...says the man who wanted to go to a 'gentlemens club'. Hmm

Sauce for the gander isn't sauce for the goose, evidently.

Oooh I know what - I really want the subject of 'men being head of the house' to come up in a discussion with Rob and Alan.

CarolineKnappShappey · 28/03/2014 20:19

Fair enough about not telling anybody. But it feels so like A Plot Device that it is unrealistic that there was not even the smallest glimpse that a woman in that situation would think about a real risk of MC.

Lomaamina · 28/03/2014 20:25

humphrey another fan of more or less here. Yes I heard it and it was weirdly satisfying to get that appalling episode taken apart analytically. It somehow took out some of the trauma about listening to it.

As for Ruth. That was some good acting by both actresses, don't you think? Though I agree Jill was being much too creepy. When Ruth mentioned her mum had given her the same advice, I shouted "exactly" at the radio.
