Will this thread make it to the wedding? Will it outlive Tony?

OP posts:

Tallgiraffe- a new baby how brilliant. I hope Ruth's storyline is full of squishy joy too. Reckon it'll be a leonie pfb counterpoint. Was distracted by fallon's brush with the pc and had not thought through the ramifications of her staying at Rob's. She'll overhear a conversation with Jess but H will say its misconstrued. What do you lot make of Jazzer's reaction to Plot when he heard that he is a pc - general distrust or a guilty secret? I think there'll be a fight for Fallon as J let her go too easily last time

CuttedUpPear · 28/03/2014 08:27

I thought it was weird that Rhys and Fallon had such an understated relationship (or did I miss something? I couldn't listen for a while last summer).
And how contrived that he didn't even get a speaking part yesterday.

Cretaceous · 28/03/2014 08:29

I'm 51, so have been listening for 40 yrs - barring breaks when the plots were at a low ebb...

TG many congrats Grin. So you won't be calling DC2 Kenton, Walter or Nelson, then???

WillieWaggledagger · 28/03/2014 08:56

i thought it was a bit off that it sounded like fallon slapped rhys and later pc burns said 'he got what he deserved'

i know the two things weren't directly linked like that, and it wasn't part of a longterm pattern of abuse (and fallon got a night in the cells and a caution in any case, though i think that might have been for her behaviour outside the club), but i'm not keen on the implication that it's ok for women to go around slapping men and assaulting the women they kiss, if that's what i heard

ErrolTheDragon · 28/03/2014 09:54

I think the point of Fallon going home with Helen is that this will mean that Rob, who will be seething that she's home so late leaving him with Henry (he is there not with P&T isn't he?), will have to refrain from venting till F has gone. (the fact he was out all night for Tom's stag do is of course completely irrelevant.) The resulting explosion from the built-up pressure (or time to cool down to something more coolly devastating) will lead to a further tightening of his screws on Helen.

Swannykazoo · 28/03/2014 09:58

Admittedly I had DH failing to obey the house rule of silence at 7:04 but I thought it was utterly unbelievable that Fallon was the drunk and disorderly one - she's grown up in a pub FFS, surely she can hold a few Magners or whatever cider young people not in the Grundy cider club drink?

No1 Signpost to - tug of love between Fallon and PC Burns and Jazzer

No2 Signpost to - "oops Fallon we really must get a lock on this shower door" from Rob on Sunday...I'm guessing

ErrolTheDragon · 28/03/2014 10:29

Yes, it did seem unlikely that Fallon would do that - apart from the drink issue, even if she was pissed that Rhys turned out to be a lying two-timer, she'd been so relaxed about their breakup ... I thought their relationship was more of a friends-with-benefits than a deep one.

trufflehunterthebadger · 28/03/2014 10:32

I hardly listen these days but OMG ! Ruth is pregnant ??? Blimey, last time i listened properly she was about to run off with that stockman.

I have a confession. I sound just like Helen Archer

unitarian · 28/03/2014 10:40

Rob's going to show his true colours now.
a) He's going to be annoyed that Helen brought someone back to 'our's'.
b) He's going to be disapproving of Fallon's behaviour.
c) He's going to try to hit on Fallon (DH's opinion).

trufflehunterthebadger · 28/03/2014 10:41

Missed the start of last night's as DD1 selfishly had a friend round for tea and it was a boy!! so I'm agog at 2

BasketzatDawn · 28/03/2014 16:17

We have 2 Archers/Brookfield names here. One was named in 1961, the other was 'post-TA' but is such a very common name and has nuffink to do with it at all. Congrats, TallG.

BasketzatDawn · 28/03/2014 16:23

In fact, at risk of outing myself entirely, I was signed into ML/the BBC site for a while as 'therealrutharcher' so close is my real name to RA's. But I changed it when DH rumbled me ....

ErrolTheDragon · 28/03/2014 16:24

We've all got TA names come to think. It slightly entered my thinking with choosing DD - I wanted a classless name, one which didn't label her and TA provided an example of her name in a particular social context. Only DH has a nice character's name - the blameless dog has the worst one!

ErrolTheDragon · 28/03/2014 16:25

(well, maybe not the worst, he's not called Clive or Hazel)

BitOutOfPractice · 28/03/2014 16:27

I have the Archers name du jour and it's very odd seeing it all over this thread

frostyfingers · 28/03/2014 16:28

Don't you think that the new actor playing Tony has a really whiny whingy voice? Can't bear it/him/the character.

BitOutOfPractice · 28/03/2014 16:31

I am permanently cross with Tony frosty. He's getting right on my pip

stilllearnin · 28/03/2014 16:32

The other unlikely factor in fighty Fallon is that she's in the trade! It's a big no no to be a angry drunk when your career is in the pub

stilllearnin · 28/03/2014 16:33

An angry drunk, sorry!

Iwantacampervan · 28/03/2014 16:42

My nephew shares a birthday with Pip (he is a few years younger) and has the same name as one of the charactersbut not an Archer.

If we get another pet maybe I'll name it after a character - not sure which one I'll choose.

BasketzatDawn · 28/03/2014 17:22

I think Darrell would be a lovely pet's name .... Grin

I agree having a nom du jour is decidedly weird esp when everyone is slagging her off. I assume you can't be a Fallon then, BitOutof. Has anyone ever? I haven't.

unitarian · 28/03/2014 17:24

I'm definitely calling our future cats Feckless and Aimless.

BasketzatDawn · 28/03/2014 17:25

I mean - ever heard of a Fallon IRL.
