Will this thread make it to the wedding? Will it outlive Tony?

Pls help my aged memory - apart from Brenda and Kirsty (and the fling with supermarket manager - was that Lauren?) what other girl friends as the SausageKing had?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 20/04/2014 17:41

Didn't he go out with Fallon at one point? I could easily be making that up, though. I think early on his girlfriends were not allowed to speak on air, so they didn't leave much impression.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 20/04/2014 17:42

Oh, and Lauren was different from the supermarket buyer. She might have been called Tamsin. Lauren was brought in purely because she could sing and Lynda was doing a production of The Mikado. We heard Lauren singing something really beautiful from that whose name escapes me at the moment.

cheminotte · 20/04/2014 18:13

yes the supermarket buyer was Tamsin. Tom saw more future in that relationship than she did iirc.

BasketzatDawn · 20/04/2014 18:26

I think it was the fling with Tamsin that lead to K dumping him then? I only vaguely recall the Dramatic Lauren. Sad Did he have a 'thing' with Fallon? I remember her and Ed being a one-sided item but not Tom surely? TBH I find I get mixed up with Tom and his bro when it comes to women. It must be the cheating. Who did he cheat on with Lauren then?

Another qu. Sorry! When Brendur had her fling with the unlovely James, was she cheating on someone? if so, who?

GypsyFloss · 20/04/2014 19:13

This all sounds very ominous.

Bluestocking · 20/04/2014 19:26

What on earth was Kenton up to, twitting Tom about the flowery spotty wedding list? I agree, the whole epi was extremely ominous, especially the Jill and Dead Phil bit.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 20/04/2014 19:30

Brenda was single when she took up with James, I think, but the big issue there was that some time previously she had gone off with Lilian's toy boy Scott (pre-Matt days) and now she was involved with Lilian's son.

Tom cheated on Kirsty with Lauren.

Yes, all very ominous. But they may be toying with us.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 20/04/2014 20:04

Evening all. I can't decide whether Kirsty's weepy gratitude is ominous or simply a normal reaction to being on the cusp of getting ones heart's desire. As soaps go nothing bad can happen to Tom - and it would be ridiculously melodramatic for Kirsty to cease breathing in the next few days. So.....

BasketzatDawn · 20/04/2014 20:07

Ominous indeed. I hope they aren't toying with us, even if it's sad.
Did anyone else wonder during tonight's epi if it's Kirsty having 2nd thoughts? I'd forgotten about Brendur and ToyBoyScott.

BasketzatDawn · 20/04/2014 20:11

x-post with Zero. Yes, they can't kill off Tom. But will Kirsty have a dreadful accident in the rain forest?

I'd forgotten the SausageKIng had cheated on K twice. That would make me even more cautious about marrying him. Blimey, what does she see in him?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 20/04/2014 20:13

Perhaps she's desperate? She's been given had no luck with men to date. Biological clock ticking? Tom will be a good provider, if they don't go bankrupt because of the wedding/new house.

BasketzatDawn · 20/04/2014 20:24

Yep, maybe that's it, Mimsy. There's certainly been enough talk of babies. Another possible scenario is that Kirsty gets swept off her feet by someone she meets in the rain forest, and Tom comes back alone and in debt.

GypsyFloss · 20/04/2014 21:16

She certainly sounds desperate.

Tommy · 21/04/2014 11:02

it certainly doesn't sound like they're both really excited about it does it? I think Krusty's chat with Jill was quite realistic but Tom....? Hmm

Selks · 21/04/2014 11:03

Interesting to hear about Brenda and James and ToyboyScott....that could explain Lillian's awful treatment of her as an employee?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 21/04/2014 11:28

Yes Selks - it's a long time ago but certainly set the tone of their relationship until the denouement of the (AmEx) Russia episode. The much youger boyfriend was such an "I've still got it" statement on Lillian's part during her brief return to Ambridge. The awful thing was that she was humiliated not just in front of the whole village but very much in front of her own family - it took years and years for Lillian to rebuild any credit in the eyes of Jenny and Brian.

So of course when, later, James toyed with and then dumped Brenda Lillian was hardly likely to be sympathetic.

Selks · 21/04/2014 15:05

Interesting, Zero! This is what makes the Archers good I think; the layers of relationship and plot history that influence current goings-on.

BitOutOfPractice · 21/04/2014 15:12

Oh lord they are really laying on the doom-mongering about the wedding with a trowel aren't they?

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/04/2014 15:40

I think Tom is going to jilt Kirsty at the altar. The archers haven't done that before have they although it got close with Will and Emma.

I think that's why there was the bit about the music they'll walk out too - because [dramatic pause] - they won't!

BasketzatDawn · 21/04/2014 16:03

MrsCB, you've been right before I think, and that is the most likely scenario. I just wish it could be Kirsty doing the jilting as it would be good to see her talking some control of her life, and I don't know why Tom needs to be any more horrid. Still, maybe she'll go foo on the holiday - she could take Hellen and Henry and they could both, at risk of sounding like my great aunt, find naice men and live happily ever after.

I am ridiculously excited - ds1, ages 23 1/2, has just texted to say
he's coming for a visit - tonight or tomorrow. He hasn't been back since Christmas - though we did all have a meal out together in Glasgow in Feb. Telling you lot means I won't blab to the resident sons - ds4 adores big bruv and will be so excited too. It'll be wonderful surprise when he just rrives. I must go andclear the junk from his room so he can reach the bed. Grin

BasketzatDawn · 21/04/2014 16:05

That should say taking not talking - in 2nd line. No idea what the 'go foo' is. Easter Confused

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 21/04/2014 16:07

That's lovely, Basketz! My son goes back to university tomorrow. He seems remarkably chipper today, I wonder why? I'm resigned to it now.

I do hope Mrs CB is wrong about Tom and the jilting! I can imagine very few things more humiliating than being jilted at the altar. I will continue to assume we are being toyed with.

Also, Sean O'Connor, the new Editor, is on Feedback this week.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 21/04/2014 16:08

... by which I mean Friday 25th, repeated Sunday 27th, available on i-player for a few days into May, I suppose.

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/04/2014 16:09

I hope I'm wrong too - honestly, I am already dreading Thursday's episode.
