Just don't be so careless with your watch Helen

And the first pinch, all in jest of course, from Rob.

Shallishanti · 02/03/2014 19:21

yes, sinister
plus 'keeping you all to myself'

ErrolTheDragon · 02/03/2014 19:25

Manipulative bastard. Secret engagement because anyone sane would be very Hmm at the rapid turnaround and he can manage Jess better that way.

Glad Kirsty has his measure at least.

cheminotte · 02/03/2014 19:29

How can he possibly expect her to keep the secret??

Halsall · 02/03/2014 19:32

Agree absolutely ppeat, a family on tap to help out is a blessing...but Hellin chooses to control her family to suit her own whims and knows exactly how to wound them, eg moving out with Henry and telling Pat they can't see him for weeks. Any comment that she perceives as being remotely in opposition to what SHE wants cannot be tolerated.

Reckon she's met her match in Rob, though I'm getting rather weary of these furtive phone calls to Jess the moment H leaves the room. Why the heck can't he ring her when he's on his own and doesn't have to be so cloak-and-dagger?

BasketzatDawn · 02/03/2014 19:52

I know many don't agree, and I'll say it only once - probably! I feel almost sorry for Helen.

And what can a person do when the brain bleach fails to work? Slurp, slurpGrin

Shallishanti · 02/03/2014 19:55

no, I feel sorry for her- if all our guesses are correct even she doesn't deserve what's coming- nobody does

boobashka · 02/03/2014 20:37

GypsyFloss Love "Titchy Nob". Grin

Did not enjoy the slurping tonight.

Thoroughly hooked tho.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/03/2014 21:02

How can he possibly expect her to keep the secret??

Because he's told her to. And if she doesn't and there's unpleasantness she'll be in the wrong so that increases his hold

GypsyFloss · 02/03/2014 21:16

boobashka it's a great name isn't it? I can't lay claim to it though, it's the name bestowed up him by another Archers forum. I just nicked it Grin

I too feel sorry for Helen. Although I think she's an awful cow to her family she is naive and in for an awful shock. She's my favourite character by a country mile and beautifully played by the actress.

Panzee · 02/03/2014 21:52

I love Tom, he's so irritating. I bet the actor has loads of fun playing him. :o

GrendelsMum · 02/03/2014 22:05

I love Jennifer's increasing hysteria over the kitchen. Is she on the way to a nervous breakdown?

And does anyone else think that The SWs have been taking inspiration from certain MNers for Jennifer?

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 02/03/2014 22:16

If Jennyfur was real and on MN, she'd have mentioned farrow and ball by name by now!

GrendelsMum · 02/03/2014 22:20

Oh, she already has - she's referred to paint colours which are clearly piss takes of F&B when Darrell was painting her study.

nennypops · 02/03/2014 23:14

If Jennydear had to cope with my kitchen she'd have the screaming abdabs. Sadly there's no point in trying to bully dh into paying for a spiffy new one, no amount of bullying will magic up the money for it.

unitarian · 03/03/2014 01:17

Another interesting contrast. Jennifer has her philandering husband well under control while Helen is being controlled.

JessieMcJessie · 03/03/2014 02:24

It was nice to hear Alice back, and ribbing her mother but nonetheless supporting her in front of Brian.

Thought they laboured the whereabouts of Chris a bit too much though- it's as if they're afraid that any failure to mention that someone is in the next room will have listeners suspecting illness/marriage on rocks/insert speculative absence-driven plot line here.

PseudoBadger · 03/03/2014 08:15

I was happy to hear Alice back - I remarked as she spoke for Chris that the SWs couldn't afford him this week!

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 03/03/2014 10:08

Yes, making Christopher arrive after Alice and do the washing up was a bit transparent.

ComposHat · 03/03/2014 10:12

Yes JennyDahling must be delighted to gave one of the lower orders about the place for general skivvying duties.

boobashka · 03/03/2014 12:28

Yes - I enjoyed hearing Alice back too. One of the few characters I actually like Grin

Enjoying hating Hellin at the mo - that patronising tone in her voice whenever she speaks to anyone - be it Henry, PatnTone, even Rob - really gets my goat (in a good way!!). Urggh!

WillieWaggledagger · 03/03/2014 12:59

i know boobashka, making out like she knows what a functional relationship looks like!

ComposHat · 03/03/2014 17:17

boobashka someone here commented that Hellin's voice is an absolute dead ringer for Sally Phillips in Clare in the Community. I now can't hear one without thinking of the other.

GypsyFloss · 03/03/2014 17:33

Absolutely Compo, moreso in previous episodes when Clare would be having a go at her poor henpecked husband/ partner Brian.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/03/2014 17:39

Oh Compos you are right - damn you for pointing that out! Grin
