Just don't be so careless with your watch Helen

Halfwilding - congratulations, but when are you going to get to hear the wedding episode? Grin

lljkk · 25/02/2014 19:20

ps: are there really any villages in England like Ambridge? I know that's another thread... I just can't believe how much is going on in one village too small to even have its own school, this whole passion play thing relying on enthusiasm of some of the most rampant non-church attenders in the village. Confused

Halsall · 25/02/2014 19:21

Seems pretty suspicious though, no?.....grabbing the phone as soon as Hellin leaves the room...

ErrolTheDragon · 25/02/2014 19:21

'Did the SWs commit a howler the other night? Twice Tom & Tony they referred to the new beef herd as "cows". I thought cows were what you got milk from & cattle are beef animals; proper farmers never mix the terms... do they?'

I thought 'cows' was simply the female bovine and as its a suckler herd that's what they are.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 25/02/2014 19:22

halfwildling We did Michelin night on the previous thread - umm "Anyone for a fondant fancy". Take a look.

D'you know my heart always does a little skip when another person discovers this thread. I think my life took on a whole new dimension when I came upon "FFS Lil he's just a bit on the side..." ( Thanks again Pseudo.)

Benzalkonium · 25/02/2014 19:24

#archersletdown. Sad I was looking forward to that, and it was really tame.

PseudoBadger · 25/02/2014 19:24

DS is almost exactly the same age as Baby Cheesus. I can state that Henry is not 3 enough.

florencedombey · 25/02/2014 19:26

Benzalkonium, don't worry, I'm sure he's going to gradually ramp up the nastiness .

PseudoBadger · 25/02/2014 19:29

Thanks Zero, I didn't intend for that thread to be the beginning of something beautiful. But it so was.

OP posts:
guineapiglet · 25/02/2014 19:32

uuum, listening to Rob phoning Jess made me shiver.....what if they are colluding and it is about Henry......why on earth would putting up Henry's bed juxtapose with ringing Jess so aggressively?

horrible and increasingly creepy. was a bit surprised Hellin wasn't more miffed at her angel being shouted at Grin

CuttedUpPear · 25/02/2014 19:40

lljkk - Are there any villages really like this in England?

Yes. Mine.

We have:
A token academic British Asian (just the one)
A dipsomaniac Oxford don
A vicar called Janet (who appeared in the village at the same time as the Ambridge one disappeared)
A suicidal gamekeeper (who prompted a huge man hunt with choppers and swat teams when he went off to the woods with a gun)
Three farms
And almost the whole the row of houses where I live have been inhabited by generations of the same three families since they were built

GypsyFloss · 25/02/2014 19:48

Bloody hell CuttedUpPear . You should write a radio soap Wink

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 25/02/2014 20:05

Surely the real question is; exactly which Archers character is actually based on you CuttedUpPear?

(Are you Shula? Or Lynda?...... You're Ruth aren't you?)

CuttedUpPear · 25/02/2014 20:22

Oh yes and we have a Lynda. Well meaning snooty middle class late arrival to village who bosses everyone about to get them to join in with her good works.

For the last decade, when I've been listening regularly, I've been bemused by how many of the storylines are actually happening here as well.

I would be Kate in her younger years, before she went orf abroad. Erm without the rich family.

halfwildlingwoman · 25/02/2014 20:24

S'ok. My newly wedded husband will have to let me listen to the omnibus that weekend. instead of talking all the way though

stilllearnin · 25/02/2014 20:46

Rob's outburst was tame but it's too early for proper rages. The whole temper thing was a bit of a red herring, no? The real story was the ringing of jess- luckily my excitement at that overcame the fact that he had to say both his and her name. I came over all fuzzy when I heard the stolen line about the ladder! We're a public service, we are!

Iwantacampervan · 25/02/2014 21:24

What about Hellin's bit about Krusty along the lines of 'she should have what she wants.'
Is that what is happening to her ?

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 25/02/2014 21:32

Nice though it is to think this thread is pored over by the SWs, there are other Archers discussion fora Grin

PseudoBadger · 25/02/2014 21:34

Ah but they're not as intuitive as we are...

OP posts:
bigbadbarry · 25/02/2014 21:37

I thought we were promised a proper temper tantrum! That was just a bit snappy.
I live in one of the Chester villages and we also have a token Asian but no suicidal gamekeeper that I am aware of. Chester does, however, have a passion play joined in with enthusiasm by all sorts of non-churchgoers.

nennypops · 25/02/2014 22:59

Surely the answer to Tom's problem is to diversify into beef sausages?

BeaLola · 26/02/2014 00:23

I dont think Rob was that bad re Henry .... Assembling furniture is like putting lights on the christmas tree .... a marital argument always ensues and Henry is on the spoiled side .. all those adoring Grandparents.

I have in a flash tonight realised what was bothering me .... It was when Rob told Helen that they " had all the time in the world" apart from the cringeness of it , it reminded me of the song that they sing in the Bond film ... The one with the non proper Bond Lazenby and he marries Diana Rigg - dont they play that song as she gets shot ? Helen be careful.

But why was he ringing Jess ? To book a date for some extra shagging or did he send the old bed back to her ?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/02/2014 06:52

nenny, I was just about to exclaim "Of course! What a splendid idea..." when I remembered the organic hurdle. It would surely have led to more harmonious family life if the cows could have been a joint (...) enterprise, ending up in the ready-meals. But they're organic - so I imagine it would simply not be cost effective for Tom to use them, as the end product would be to expensive to fit in with his brand. On the other hand, given that they have everything in place - why shouldn't they also sell organic ready-meals. On the third hand.... Peggy has always made it clear that she disapproves of Bridge Farm's organic underpinnings.... Oh I hope Tony never finds he has to ask for Tom's help with his beef business.....

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/02/2014 06:53

"too expensive"...
