Just don't be so careless with your watch Helen

OP posts:

That woman in the wedding dress shop is ghastly! I wouldn't buy from her on principle..

SomethingOnce · 22/02/2014 11:46

And no photos of her exclusive designs?

Sod that! On principle I'd be snapping away in the changing room and Facebooking like a fiend!

Songbird · 22/02/2014 11:56

composhat I punched the air and shouted 'booooom!!' at Tony - I loved it!! DH didn't love it as he was watching the rugby and I was listening with headphones on Grin

ComposHat · 22/02/2014 12:22

blue yes a lifetime of tom filling the gap in your market with his piddly sausage isn't worth all the dresses in the world.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 22/02/2014 12:58

somebody referred to Tom (the piddly sausage king) as the chipolata on the FB page

I think he should be referred to thus forever now Grin

WillieWaggledagger · 22/02/2014 14:16

Yes pat sounded approving. Probably relieved to see tiny looking enthusiastic about something

Tom is just such a dick

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 22/02/2014 14:57

Willie, was tiny a typo or deliberate? Grin

Either way I think they should be known as Tiny & the Chipolata Kid

SomewhereBeyondTheSea · 22/02/2014 16:54

Loving the thread title ! A very belated marking-place - need the omnibus tomorrow to catch up ...

cheminotte · 22/02/2014 17:03

Songbird just listened to last 5 minutes of Friday's episode which I'd missed. I can see why you were punching the air. Tony really told Tom! And how petty of Tom to cancel the marquee. What will Kirsty say?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 22/02/2014 18:18

So where are we with the wedding finances?

Peggy has offered £18 thousand (?) for a house deposit.

Tony has withdrawn part of whatever (smaller) amount P & T had offered towards the wedding.

Roy was insisting on a mega-stag (?)

Kirstie has paid a deposit for the £2,400 wedding dress.

Super-Posh Towers has phoned Tom because they have a cancellation. Tom has cancelled the marquee.

Can't quite work out whether the happy couple are heading for trouble or not....

(But the way things are going Tony will probably be spending the wedding day with his new cows.)

Songbird · 22/02/2014 18:54

Has Peggy actually offered £18k though? All I remember is her saying 'I'm open to the idea, let's not settle on an amount yet'. When I first heard that I thought she meant she'd offer more, but now I'm wondering. And has kirsty only agreed to the (out of character) mega bucks dress because they were having a relatively cheap marquee wedding?

More good stuff coming our way methinks!

ErrolTheDragon · 22/02/2014 19:06

Just caught up ... have a few days 'holiday' and come back to well over 200 messages! A sort of index of how much fun TA is at the moment.

Who ever heard of a man choosing the conjugal bedlinen?

Yay Tony - although he'd been thinking about the suckler herd (had he discussed it with anyone other than David?) for a while it was a bit of a quick decision borne out of his renewed sense of being able to do something following the Ambridge Ark, I thought. But he knows about cows so I do hope it works out beautifully for him.

Oh dear... T thinks kirsty might be blowing as much as a grand on her frock, he'll be stunned by how much it is ... and she'll be upset he's cancelled the marquee and gone for wherever it is £££...

TypicaLibra · 22/02/2014 19:09

Excellent episode!

For years it has felt like the scriptwriters thought we should like Tom (and Helen) more than we do. I'm so pleased they've finally given him his just desserts and oh in what a way - what better than to have Tony put him in his place so brilliantly?

TypicaLibra · 22/02/2014 19:11

Oh and another thing .... for once I was pleased with the Ambridge Fairy, how wonderful that someone selling an organic suckler herd was conjured out of thin air this week!!!

GypsyFloss · 22/02/2014 19:22

Just catching up now.

GypsyFloss · 22/02/2014 19:25

What a spoilt brat you are Tom.

Panzee · 22/02/2014 20:18

Just listened to it, am loving it! Agree that Pat seems quietly pleased and Tom is so petty. :o

I have so many questions. What will Kirsty say to the expensive reception venue change? What will Tom say to the millionaire dress? Have either of them actually sat down and costed any of this? They just seem to be planning independently of each other. Do you remember when Lower Loxley did weddings? Or was that just for Kenton and Jolene?

I'm starting to wonder if this wedding will ever go ahead

Bluestocking · 22/02/2014 20:37

TypicaLibra, you've hit the nail on the head. I think The Previous Editor was convinced that The Cheese Queen and Chipolata were much more sympathetic and popular characters than they actually are, and staunchly resisted the mega-flock of chickens which are now coming home to roost in a most satisfactory way.
I hope Tom really overplays his hand with Piggoi, and she ends up withdrawing her (reluctant) offer of financial support for the wedding in that quavery but imperiously Thatcherite way of hers, citing some sort of homily about cutting your coat according to your cloth.

CarolineKnappShappey · 22/02/2014 20:50

And what about Rich, Peggoi's other grandson? Nothing for him?

It's a bit of a power trip for Peggoi. My Granny used to spend many a happy afternoon sticking people's names on the bottom of hideous ornaments, and if you annoyed her she would peel your name off, and stick someone else's on.

stilllearnin · 22/02/2014 21:03

We have a long running joke of putting a sticker on or pulling it off things we want - Cannot believe it actually happens!

The Tony Archer Brand - oh brilliant!

SomethingOnce · 22/02/2014 21:25

that quavery but imperiously Thatcherite way of hers, citing some sort of homily about cutting your coat according to your cloth.

Ah, everything that grates about Peggy in a sentence. Beautifully put, Blue!

Halsall · 22/02/2014 23:14

Hear, hear! Grin

Selks · 23/02/2014 00:31

Grin @ your Granny and her name stickers, Caroline!

campion · 23/02/2014 00:45

Don't think Peggoi knows about Rich, CarolineK.

FunLovinBunster · 23/02/2014 07:24

I've looked at the radio listings for this week, and

ROB LOSES HIS TEMPER.
I am so looking forward to this. My mum thinks Rob is menacing too.
