Basketz I think Borsetshire is supposed to be in the rural West Midlands (sandwiched between Warwickshire and Worcestershire I think) so would be immune from the West Country floods)

WillieWaggledagger · 31/01/2014 08:59

i can't stand either ed or will

Syllabubble · 31/01/2014 09:56

Sorry, but I really don't see what's so wrong with Will. His brother and his wife had an affair, then they were going to run off with Will's son. I understand perfectly why Will hates his brother so much. I understand why he didn't want to give Ed any of the inheritance money he received.

Does anyone remember how lovely he was to Emma on their wedding day when she was dithering outside the church, thinking she was pregnant with Ed's baby. Will was really gentle with her and reassuring and prepared to call the wedding off if Emma wasn't sure.

Ed is a flake who is unable to cope with problems without going off the deep end. Emma does not help the situation by continually being bitchy about Nic.

Clarrie needs to stop trying to broker a reconciliation between her two sons. It's not going to happen.

Will should perhaps have a few counselling sessions to get rid of the last vestiges of bitterness over Ed 'n' Em, and set about enjoying life with Nic, the kids, the dogs.

Panzee · 31/01/2014 10:11

I agree - and maybe he'd be less bitter if he wasn't constantly being pressured to let it go!

WillieWaggledagger · 31/01/2014 10:43

realistically they can never be pals any time soon (and i don't think they ever were??). it will affect them all for the rest of their lives and the children too

still find them both extremely irritating, and emma too

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 31/01/2014 11:31

Will was completely in the wrong, morally, over the inheritance; & still is, in the way he flaunts his own financial security.

MrsCampbellBlack · 31/01/2014 11:51

But come on, Ed was completely wrong to have an affair with his sil. I doubt I'd have felt like sharing my inheritance if I was Will either after that little bombshell.

I'm with Willie - I can't stand either of them but the bias towards Ed annoys me.

WillieWaggledagger · 31/01/2014 12:04

did will 'steal' emma originally from ed (i forget)? not that that excuses ednem's behaviour at all

i'm amazed either of them are still talking to her. kudos really to will for maintaining a more or less civil relationship with her, even if only for george

i find her so annoying that i can't imagine why two brothers would be willing to completely destroy their relationship over her

WillieWaggledagger · 31/01/2014 12:05

mind you i don't know what she sees in them either, so they are all welcome to each other

barbarianoftheuniverse · 31/01/2014 12:12

I am a bit out of touch. The one who spoke Latin and lives with Jazza (v odd) was hobnobbing with boring Christine when I was last in Ambridge. What happened there?
Has Jazza recovered from taking too much horse dope?
That moaning one who was living in the cider shed- where is he now?
Is Old Joe better?
(And, horrible question, pleasant people turn away)
What happened after Nigel fell off the roof? Did they just scrub down the flagstones and try not to think about it?

WillieWaggledagger · 31/01/2014 14:48

ooh is it peggy/helen showdown tonight?

MrsCampbellBlack · 31/01/2014 14:56

I reckon that at some pointe Emma will have her head turned by some handsome gent from the big city, you know, Birmingham Wink

But seriously, she really could have done with seeing a bit more of life and realising there was more to life than a Grundy. Although at least she left Joe and Eddie alone.

ErrolTheDragon · 31/01/2014 15:09

Borsetshire is definitely somewhere between Birmingham and Cheltenham. Given that Ambridge has featured at the Three Counties show I think of it as being tucked between Gloucester, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, rather than the latter and Warwickshire. Sort of like a large scale version of Sirius Black's house.

I didn't recognise Eddie's voice when he confronted his sons - I don't believe I've ever heard him really angry before. About time!

ppeatfruit · 31/01/2014 15:30

yes Errol he should 've banged their heads together. But I'm glad that wee George is 'friends' with his stepdad\uncle again Grin.

To answer barbarian's questions
!. Jim (dad of Alastair and eruditer of Ambridge) has only ever been 'friends' with Christine. But he might fancy Jill who's not biting IYSWIM.

  1. Of course Jazzer totally recovered from his doping days and has even contributed to cultural events in Ambridge. He's living with Jim so has a good role model.
  1. "That moaning one' Darryl I think you mean, has got over his depression and is doing up a van that Eddie got hold of for him to live in which is parked at the Stables thus letting St shules polish her halo without too many problems.
  1. Joe has of course made a complete recovery with Eddie's help (fitting handles on Bartleby's cart so that he can drive it (as long as Jill doesn't drive into it Grin.
  1. Unpleasant answer to unpleasant question; I don't remember them painting the terrace to blend in with the blood stains I think a veil was drawn over said subject to protect our sensibilities!.
HumphreyCobbler · 31/01/2014 15:36

I didn't recognise Eddie's voice either, I wasted time trying to work out who it was. He was quite right in what he said.

I am usually team Ed as I find Will and his boasting about his finacial security well nigh unbearable, but Ed is really getting on my nerves now!

Lomaamina · 31/01/2014 17:07

I've just done the quiz. I'm a Jenny darling. Oh gawd. At least I'm not a Pat (second closest) and third ranked is Lynda - I suppose I lost points on not being happy to do enough stuff for the village.

ho hum

BasketzatDawn · 31/01/2014 18:37

Thanks for all the guidance on geographical lay out of England. Blush I should have understood the difference between West Midlands and West Country, possibly a case of engaging fingers before brain. Smile I reckon, for a Scottish person (albeit one married to an Englishman) I have a good knowledge of England. I have even driven in the area around Brum/Coventry with only a map and DH for navigation - though was disappointed not to see the signs to Ambridge. Hmm

I AM looking forward to tonight's episode. Peggy has Rob in a head lock perhaps? Has the script writer changed recently? It all seems to have improved. I had this convo with DH earlier this week, but I've forgotten the answer. Blush In my defence, I am having problems concentrating at moment due to meds I am taking. My excuse and I am sticking to it ....

BasketzatDawn · 31/01/2014 18:40

BTW, barbarian, I think a local cleaning firm was brought in to hose the flagstones down. All paid for on LL insurance. Grin Everyone in the family too traumatised to do to themselves. Poor Nige.

BasketzatDawn · 31/01/2014 18:42

I've driven in the West Country too. I didn't need a map or DH though both were still there. Grin

winterkills · 31/01/2014 18:42

I was Clarrie in the quiz. Knew I shouldn't have said I would walk back from the pub...

Emmur sounds more and more like Susan - it's very unattractive but quite true to life.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 31/01/2014 18:45

New editor, Basketz! We all know how hard people usually try in the first weeks of a new job to make a good impression. Let's hope he can keep the team up to this standard for years and years to come.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 31/01/2014 18:54

Seems we're not the only ones loving life under the new regime...
