Hello you two :o

Wasn't there some unpleasantness when Pat and Tony had decided to buy Bridge Farm (they were tenants for decades, this is only a few years ago) which meant taking on a huge mortgage. Helen and Tom were pushing them into it but it was a massive risk for P&T to take. I think Tony swallowed his pride and asked Jennifer and Brian for a loan, but they wouldn't help and I seem to recall that Jennifer was insufferably patronising to Tony (not for the first time). Or was that during the E Coli debacle? I do recall that Lilian came up trumps on that occasion and lent them something like £50k to keep them afloat while the diary was closed.

'but Jess was so charming' Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/01/2014 19:09

Ooooh, will Peggy now take the Lodge back from Helen and perhaps horse whip her too? Wink

Must say I was impressed at Jenny keeping her mouth shut about the unfairness of the will.

GypsyFloss · 26/01/2014 19:10

Oh Jennifer darling , once again your nosiness dressed up as concern comes to the fore.

Poor Tony , I actually feel a bit sorry for him.

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/01/2014 19:12

I do feel sorry for Tony too. Listening again this morning - her saying how like his father was just seemed so mean.

GypsyFloss · 26/01/2014 19:15

Crikey Peggy doesn't really like Pat does she?

Shallishanti · 26/01/2014 19:16

you'd think it was her farm!

GypsyFloss · 26/01/2014 19:16

I don't think Peggy will take back the Lodge . Creepy Rob will charm her. Blueurgh .

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/01/2014 19:17

Just to check Peggy's incredible business acumen comes from having been a pub landlady - is that right?

And yes I agree Gypsy. If she was worried about Tony's health why not leave him some money so he could enjoy his retirement and novel concept let Tom and Helen look after themselves.

GypsyFloss · 26/01/2014 19:51

Peggy is an absolute cow.

They'd hardly bump off Tony having only acquired a new one but now would be a good time for him to bite the dust. Then Tom can makes plans to take over the farmhouse and exile Pat ...

GypsyFloss · 26/01/2014 19:54

Yeah MrsCampbellBlack , running a pub and shagging a few GI's in the war I reckon Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/01/2014 19:56

And let's not forget the great commercial vision that Helen has. Or did I miss that bit.

At least there's Tom, he's done so well, we'll just gloss over him needing money from granny etc

And Pat going on about Tony being such a support re. the funeral - honestly you never hear Tony with Peggy ever.

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/01/2014 19:58

Loving thinking of Peggy keeping up the GI's spirits Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 26/01/2014 20:08

And Pat going on about Tony being such a support re. the funeral
but he was - didn't he go and see Alan about it, and he was helping with the practicalities like caskets (you can't have forgotten the conversation about the one with the Last Supper on the inside of the lid)

Lynda and Rob twitchers? Shock Good heavens no, they are honest bird watchers - twitchers are the strange men enthusiasts who drive hundreds of miles to see some poor lonely blown-off-course oddity to tick off their lists - train spotters in camo clothing and camera lenses which suggest they're, ah, compensating. Grin

GypsyFloss · 26/01/2014 20:13

I wondered that too about Tony and the funeral. In fairness Jenny darling and Fagash Lil do an awful lot for their mother and would have a right to be a lot more miffed than they appear to be.

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/01/2014 20:15

I had forgot! I guess he did some practical stuff, just always seems that its Jenny and Lillian who support Peggy so much more, eg, taking her to church and being gracious when the will was mentioned.

Sorry not will it was her 'legacy' wasn't it! Is she leaving millions - not sure if anyone has guessed how much her estate would be worth?

GypsyFloss · 26/01/2014 20:20

I'd laugh if Tom decides to build Pigditz on the strength of " the legacy" only to discover its 5 grand and a couple of suitcases of silk stockings that Peggy's been hoarding under the sofa that he is left.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/01/2014 20:37

Or that there's only enough money to cover the inheritance tax on HelRobs love nest. (depending on what Peggy makes of Rob ... the first Jeck may have made her a bit cannier than some)

WhatSheSaid · 26/01/2014 20:38

FGS Jennifer - "Poor Rob had to struggle on for MONTHS when Jess was in Hampshire!” so him shagging my niece was entirely acceptable

TallGiraffe · 26/01/2014 20:57

The actress that plays Peggy has been given a special award link contains pictures

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 26/01/2014 21:42

Has anyone linked to \link{http://www.gotoquiz.com/the_archers_alter_ego_quiz\this quiz?}

I got Clarrie Grin

Shallishanti · 26/01/2014 21:48

Pat

Panzee · 26/01/2014 21:50

Lillian darling! :o

PseudoBadger · 26/01/2014 21:59
