Hello you two :o

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 25/01/2014 14:55

Have been pondering this some more and I think Pat is not helping by focusing on 'poor tony to Brian.

As Brian pointed out, Peggy has totally cut out her other grandchildren and they're not likely to get their inheritance for another what 30plus years where as Tom & Helens will be fairly imminent.

What had Susan bought - a swimming costume with matching sarong?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 25/01/2014 15:08

Hello, all. LM here with a slightly more interesting user name. The other one was possibly the dullest on MN.

I dread to think what Susan was wearing. That anguished 'put your sarong round you!' from Neil made it sound as if she had run into the kitchen in the nude.

I agree Pat is not helping. That's Pat's default mode, of course.

Panzee · 25/01/2014 15:30

Love that Principled Pat is getting uppity over the will. And completely forgetting that her own children were benefitting from the entire legacy.

mummytime · 25/01/2014 16:11

Well I thought it was just a "normal" family will thing; but I do find the fact that Peggy gave Tony that racing car makes it sound as though she is more of a bitch than I ever thought.
In relationships we might be advising him to go NC, but that's a bit hard in Ambridge.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 25/01/2014 22:56

LM, I don't think you had the most boring name on mn. I think I did (or certainly, mine was extremely "outable" if you thought you had worked out who I was).

So, hello from gbee with a slightly quirkier username. Also, I think I tried "Mimsyborogroves" for a username a while back but was told it was unavailable. Which would have been odd had it worked and had we both ended up here.

I ramble.

I missed the Susan/Neil shenanigans. Was it cringy?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 25/01/2014 23:11

Oh dear, pasbeaucoupdegendarme, I'm now utterly foxed as to what your name was, either on MN or in another place we might both have frequented in the past. Can you give me a hint? Apologies for my appalling memory! Clogged with Archers trivia at the expense of more important things, sadly.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 25/01/2014 23:11

... oh, and yes, cringy but it made me laugh. Susan was magnificent.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 25/01/2014 23:13

I have just re-read my last post and realised it sounded rather like I was accusing you of having outed me!! Not at all - I meant it was outable if "someone" had worked out who I was, not that you had.... I was gwenniebee and I think we had only met on mn :)

Too much Burns' night whisky for me, I think...

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 25/01/2014 23:18

Ah! No problem, I was assuming I'd completely forgotten a long conversation in the past, which I'm more than capable of doing. Good luck with your new name! I'm rather pleased with mine. I also tried for MimsyBorogroves and couldn't have it.

mrsjavierbardem · 26/01/2014 07:23

Neil, Susan & JAzzer reminds me of episodes when characters kiss and I can't hit the off button quickly enough ! The archers always does this awful panto sex , and when you can hear them squelchy face sucking I feel a bit nauseous! She must have been in her new cozzie, no? But that's hardly a terribly shameful thing? Oh dear why am I thinking about this now?!

ppeatfruit · 26/01/2014 08:42

Errol I was just trying to remember if Linda and Robert are twitchers if so I don't remember it much in TA .They are ,of course, the most obvious couples to be so!!Grin

I wonder if there'll be a head on battle between Pat n' Peg tonight!

ppeatfruit · 26/01/2014 08:45

I just remembered Linda's love for the bird of prey by the church she is a twitcher of course.

What has Peggoi's will got to do with Pat? She isn't Peggoi's daughter.

TheSparklyPussycat · 26/01/2014 11:15

Well, she is her DIL. And has always bristled on behalf of Tony, who is more inclined to just whine about things without doing anything about them.

ppeatfruit · 26/01/2014 11:26

Whoever is the new broom (I never thought I'd say this) they're doing something right because I'm listening more carefully than before and I'm looking forward to tonight's; there IS going to be a P & P confrontation!

SomewhereBeyondTheSea · 26/01/2014 11:29

Can any of the longer term listeners tell us whether Tony's childhood or young adulthood really gave him cause to have this inferiority complex he seems to be wrestling with now?
Would like to know more about why he is so sensitive on this.

lljkk · 26/01/2014 11:42

I suppose his Bio Dad was a terrible role model of how to be a man, so he may have had no confident alternative.

ppeatfruit · 26/01/2014 11:43

Somewhere I DO remember him having to borrow money from Lilian and maybe Jenny and Brian and also peggy ??(I'm not sure about that though). He's got the older man's weird sensibility about money and hates having to ask for help etc.

IMO Peggy also remembers or she SHOULD remember he's got a dicky heart so he may not last as long as her!!

TheSparklyPussycat · 26/01/2014 11:44

Hard to say, as kids did not use to feature on the Archers except off stage. Only when they reached adolescence did we start to hear their voices. (And Judy Bennett (Shula) was one of several actresses who used to portray kids of both sexes in radio drama)

I do, however, have a v clear memory of Lillian at ~14 wanting a pony so so much (rather like Tony and the car) - we were all led to believe she wouldn't get one, and so was she - and then on ?Christmas morning she was led outside and there was A Pony! (can't remember his name). As Lillian is a couple of years older than me and her name rhymes with mine I kind of identified with her.

Hmm - how old would Tony have been then?

SomewhereBeyondTheSea · 26/01/2014 12:29

I was a bit surprised when Peggy said Tony was 'so like your father' - that's not a compliment, surely !

ppeatfruit · 26/01/2014 12:41

Yes I noticed that unpleasant remark too Somewhere IMO Peg's judgement is more than a little skewed. Perhaps she just doesn't want to face the reality of the first 'Jeck'.

Our DM tends to 'make up' the past because she can't stand the fact she stayed with a compulsive womaniser for far too long Sad

Panzee · 26/01/2014 13:53

Loved Lilian this morning completely getting the wrong end of the stick, at least where Pat is concerned. :o They're all right, Pat should be pleased their children are being provided for.
