Hello you two :o

OP posts:
TheSparklyPussycat · 26/01/2014 22:23

Jenny - but then I am a published author (twas a teeny guidebook years and years ago, got £100 and no copyright! - so quiz scarily accurate when you come to think of it)

However, I am nothing like Brian's description of Jenny: "slender as a bluebell"

RhinestoneCowgirl · 26/01/2014 22:24

Pat too

mummytime · 26/01/2014 22:33

Oh dear I'm Pat!

TallGiraffe · 26/01/2014 22:34

Clarrie Grin

Although v cross that Pip came out 2nd Angry

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/01/2014 23:12

Lillian - 91%. (Jenny and Jim following.)

Rather accurate. I am very pleased.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/01/2014 23:15

.....But also horrified at the revelation of Peggy's toxic MIL tendencies.

Poor Pat.

WhatSheSaid · 26/01/2014 23:30

I'm Pat too

StarJumpAlertTakeCover · 27/01/2014 02:34

Oh! Cooooooeeeeeeee only meeeeeeeeeee
Oh!I'm Jenny!
Oh! Isn't it marvelous!

ComposHat · 27/01/2014 02:45

I got Jim. I am delighted, we share a name and a career path.

I hope to spend my retirement doing the scoring at village cricket matches, bombing round in an idiosyncratic car, flirting with widows and getting pissed in a pole barn, pissing off any sanctimonious in-laws I may have and befriending the local village n'er do wells like Joe and Eddie.

JessieMcJessie · 27/01/2014 04:29

I find thr storyline re Peggy's opinions on the running of Bridge Farm total nonsense. Yes, fair enough that she might feel generally that P&T have not made enough money to give Helen and Tom total financial security but what the bleep does an east end girl turned pub lady turned hotel admin assistant know about running a farm? All this about her disagreeing with Pat's "vision". It's as stupid as if Pat and Tony ran, say, an IT consultancy and she was expressing an opinion about that. The problem with the storyline is that it would work if Bridge farm had been passed down from Peggy to Tony first (eg if she was to Bridge Farm what Jill is to Brookfield), but this is just an old bat being opinionated about her son's job. I am surprised Pat did not slap her.

Also, I think the SWs have erred in giving most of Jack's money to Hazel then starting this Peggy storyline because, as pointed out upthread, Peggy's estate is probably not worth much. Yes she has the "minor interest" in Jack's investments but those investments were not worth as much as Hazel expected them to be, so Peggy's share can't be that much. I see that they want Hazel tto have some power over the village, but why not just give her the shop and have most of the money stay with Peggy, lending more credibility to the whole Peggy's will drama.

In other news though, I did love Peggy's outrage at the idea of Rob and really do hope she tears a strip off them. Such a shame we have to wait until Friday!

I also would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Rob "told Brian about the situation" as reported by Jennydarling.

ComposHat · 27/01/2014 04:43

I still think Pat was in the wrong, trying to stir up a lynch mob to confront Peggoi about the will.

But yes, Peggoi is presented as a sympathetic character but has some very unappealing character traits.

Perhaps that is going to be the sting in the tail, when Peggoi snuffs it, there will be two halves of fuck all left to inherit and all of the sausage king's expansion plans will come to naught.

Iwantacampervan · 27/01/2014 06:56

I've completed the quiz - help, I'm Pat with Lynda second (and I didn't sniff loudly once!)
I had better get organised sorting out my daughters' inheritance and consider my organic principles.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 27/01/2014 08:50

Perhaps we are supposed to infer that Peggy has spent half a lifetime observing the farming fortunes of her FIL and BIL (Dan and Phil) at Brookfields and her daughter and SIL at Home Farm, as well as the vicissitudes that have visited Mike, Neil and the Grundys - so she at least believes she has some farming expertise. (And that would be quite a meaningful "compliment" from the SWs; rounding off her life by showing how interconnected and knowledgeable this East End girl had become.)

By contrast to the first two poor Tony and Pat "endured" years and years of tenant farming which must have been painful to watch from Peggy's pov. And she's right of course - they probably could have bought and expanded Bridge Farm decades ago if they hadn't ploughed on with their organic dream.

I still think she's nasty....

ppeatfruit · 27/01/2014 09:01

Oh I'm Jenny darling too!! "how lovely" I'm Lynda 2nd and I sniffed more than once!!!

longtallsally2 · 27/01/2014 09:14

I'm Clarrie too, but Lillian in close second. What a combination! Dh is right - I am a one-off!

GypsyFloss · 27/01/2014 09:41

I'm Spartacus I mean Jenny Darling

CuttedUpPear · 27/01/2014 09:47

June Spencer (Peggy) is on Woman's Hour this morning.

I hope it's not all sweetness and light Grin

TheSparklyPussycat · 27/01/2014 09:51

The principles of business capital and investment are actually not rocket science, and yes, age does bring a huge amount of info about how the world works, as zero suggests.

Peggy is quite a sympathetic character (and IIRC the problems the First Jack had with alcohol were quite realistically portrayed, although I was too young to fully appreciate what was going on, so sympathy for P has been a long term theme). But she does have her foibles - like Jill.

If Hazel sticks around, then I woud like other sides of her character to be revealed. I actually now have some hope now that the SWs might be allowed to do their job.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/01/2014 11:11

I came out as a Pat but with same score for Clarrie. Somewhat tempted to redo as a male.

Minimammoth · 27/01/2014 11:17

I have only just caught up with the thread after it disappeared off my 'I'm On'.
So have done the quiz, I am Pat too. Oh well. I wanted to be Lillian.
I still have to catch up on last weeks episodes as my DH insisted on giving me something urgent to do Sunday morning.
Should we put out an identikit picture of Jess, ' has anybody seen this woman'.
< especially as we have no clue what she looks like>

WillieWaggledagger · 27/01/2014 11:20

pat followed by lynda

gawd

WillieWaggledagger · 27/01/2014 11:21

jennifer was jess's best pal in the village. why hasn't she texted or something to get the gossip check how she is?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 27/01/2014 12:00

True.... It would have been impossible for the cucumber / wasabi negotiations to have taken place without an exchange of emails and phone numbers. Of course Jenny would (in rl) at least have phoned Jess to ask how shes's doing and find out if she's still starting the new job. I don't think that could be interpreted as disloyalty to Brian and the Estate.

I do hope the SWs haven't forgotten to tie up this loose end.

GypsyFloss · 27/01/2014 12:26

We need Jess back to cause chaos and shake Helen' s firmly held belief in love ever after for her and Rob. I fact I'd like the police to rock up with night and arrest him...for having killed a man in Canada if not for burying Jess under the patio.

Gigondas · 27/01/2014 13:43

I was Jenny then Lynda. I am enjoying pat going off on one about the inheritance.
