Hello you two :o

OP posts:
ComposHat · 23/01/2014 18:09

polly that was my first thought, but now I am leaning towards domestic abuse. I have an inkling it will be psychological rather than physical.

NorthernLurker · 23/01/2014 18:25

It would be very 'helpful' if they did cover financial abuse and emotional abuse. Far too many women sitting out there thinking everything is their fault.

WhatSheSaid · 23/01/2014 19:12

Prolonged bird watching combined with mild bitching about the expensive tat mementoes Jack left. Love it Grin.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 23/01/2014 19:27

oh I actually laughed out loud at Jim's parting shot Grin

Robert is such a sweetie. No wonder he's been able to manage Lyndypops so well

BasketzatDawn · 23/01/2014 20:28

Just been musing over this all - what age is Peggy? over 90, I think. Tom seemed to suggest a few days ago it could be years till he gets 'his' dosh. How many folk get to years over 90? - so it could all happen quite soon.

Also, Rob is renting at present. Why won't he and Helen and the Wunderkind not just move into the Lodge when the moment comes?

I was thinking the same as someone above about Helen's super-fertility - one flash of a turkey baster and she was preggers before, so why isn't she already pg again? I can't imagine that pair are diligent with contraception.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 23/01/2014 20:34

Peggy will be 90 this year according to TA page on the BBC - DOB 13 November 1924

She is pretty sprightly so far, with no significant health issues, so it could still be years (but otoh my MIL turned 90 last year & has suddenly lost a lot of her previous sprightliness & marbles...)

GypsyFloss · 23/01/2014 20:42

I agree NorthernLurker , it's so much more than being thumped. Rob certainly seems to be to indicating it might head that way.

polyhymnia · 23/01/2014 22:44

Just finished the latest Cazalets book - much enjoyed it . Sad to think there really won't be any more now.

WillieWaggledagger · 24/01/2014 06:33

June Spencer is 94 though I think, so she may well retire soon. That will be a sad day

mrsjavierbardem · 24/01/2014 09:50

Yes I think Rob is an uber bastard controlling head case like that awful husband in that very scary Julia Roberts film. And she knows he 's in the house because he's straightened the hand towels! Was it called 'when you were sleeping'?

LondonMother · 24/01/2014 10:11

Now here's an interesting interview. David Troughton is the new Tony, as we all know now, but what I hadn't realised was that his dad wasn't the only other actor in the family. His son Sam is currently in King Lear in the National Theatre and his nephew was Dudley Dursley in Harry Potter.

MissMilliment · 24/01/2014 10:14

Haven't heard yesterday's episode yet - was giving teen DS a cookery lesson last night and he can only concentrate if 'his' music is playing, so I had to sacrifice The Archers to the greater good of a (hopefully, one day) self-sufficient future man Grin

Will catch up today some time. I'm pleasantly surprised by all the current good storylines after the endless turgid Darrell awfulness, and all Lillian's soggy sobbing over the dreadful Paul (which she seems to have got over pretty quickly).

WillieWaggledagger · 24/01/2014 10:17

sleeping with the enemy?

LondonMother · 24/01/2014 10:33

MissM, it did start to feel by the end of last year that we'd had a whole year of 'Oh Paul! Oh Lilian! [moan, slurp] DARRELL!!! I'm really sorry, Shula...'

Long may this new lease of life continue.

ppeatfruit · 24/01/2014 12:46

Yes I think so Curlew because hellin's so desperate to have a partner IMO it'll all settle down (after the showdown with jess though Grin).

ErrolTheDragon · 24/01/2014 14:24

Scriptwriters with extended plotting capabilities and an appreciation of birdwatching. Differentating between a snipe and a Jack snipe by its flight pattern is damn good radio (you know - because 'the pictures are better). Grin

TheSparklyPussycat · 24/01/2014 14:41

And Tom thinking he had 'got it' when he really hadn't (though he had made some progress, but until he is Tony's age he won't realy understand). Subtle stuff, I thought.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/01/2014 14:55

Yes - but probably good that Tom fixed on something potentially helpful rather than Tony's actual distress.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 24/01/2014 16:13

LM I got very excited a couple of days ago when there was all the fuss over lost voices in Lear. "Surely it can't be the same Troughton??" I spent Front Row looking up family trees....

But yes, clearly a talented family.

How I cringed for Tom - he really is a tactless oaf.

TheSparklyPussycat · 24/01/2014 17:18

I have just googled "jack snipe", I never even knew such a bird existed.

Isn't Robert just lovely?

WillieWaggledagger · 24/01/2014 17:23

i LOVED that birdwatching scene. it was like overhearing my grandparents

LondonMother · 24/01/2014 18:22

Me too, Zero! That was what set me off.

It's been a lovely week on The Archers. Hope we get something decent tonight to round it off.

BitOutOfPractice · 24/01/2014 19:06

Oh lord above - the implication of Neil and Susan getting jiggy just put me off my dinner

GypsyFloss · 24/01/2014 19:17

Loved the Susan / Neil / Jazzer stuff.

Pat is on the warpath. Is Peggy a rebound target as she can't tell Helen how she really feels? Trying to control at least one of the situations?

ErrolTheDragon · 24/01/2014 19:26

Peggy may have done it to avoid double dose of inheritance tax, given that Tony has had a heart attack. (don't know how tax works if money is put into a business but surely the cottage would be hit ... oh, how will they fund that, you can't just leave a house tax free)
